[h=4]1 Corinthians 1:10[/h]I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.
[h=4]Ephesians 4:11-13[/h]It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

[h=4]Colossians 3:13-14[/h]Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

[h=4]John 17:23[/h]I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

[h=4]Psalm 133:1[/h]How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!

[h=4]1 Peter 3:8[/h]Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.

[h=4]1 John 4:12[/h]No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

[h=4]Ephesians 4:3[/h]Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

[h=4]Ephesians 1:10[/h]to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

[h=4]Galatians 3:26-28[/h]You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

[h=4]1 Corinthians 12:12-13[/h]The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

hi,

i can t answer the questions but when i chosed my pofession i decided not to become a pastor because i don t wanted to work for a christian organisation or church because they are imho dividing the one body. i think if we want to we can be as one as the early church was. i think when the church became a church (the roman-catholic) in that embodiement i 1st century that was one fall of mankind for christianity.

Something telling is that the Holy Spirit would not lead many to their errant views on clear scripture, scripture which must be spiritually discerned, and there is no unity with the unregenerate.
Then don't you think the united ones should be praying for them to have their eyes opened to be able to come to the knowledge and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ?

Two cannot walk together unless they be agreed period! And there is one central truth concerning everything found in the bible and as long as opinion, conjecture, supposition, religion and ignorance of the truth permeates society there will be no unity amongst Christian religions (so-called)!

I am not talking about unity in religions I am talking about unity in Christ's followers - people. I am seeing unity in spirit and with some of my brothers and sisters in Christ. It is exhibited in their fruits, nonjudgmental, loving, kind, serving the Lord, spreading the gospel, walking in the spirit. God does not call it a remnant for nothing.

Would you like to join us in love and unity? Sharing something positive to encourage unity?

I will joined in the unity. I will pray that God reveals something positive that I may share. I love what you wrote about unity in spirit. You do not have to agree with each and every little thing only just enjoy being with the other person. Sharing a love with the Lord is a solid foundation for the formation of unity in a relationship.

There was a Thread called Regarding Bible Discussion Forum that was recently closed down where gripes were shared about this very forum.

But what about Christian Unity? Are we able to have Unity? Just What Can We Agree On?

I thought it would be an interesting thread with a possibility of some positive posts? Do you think we are able to do that? I am willing to find out....I'll go first.

Just What Can We Christians Agree On?

Salvation only through Jesus Christ......You are saved by grace and not of yourselves it is a Gift From God.

I think we can all agree that only through Jesus's blood that we are saved.

Please can we as Christians list things we can agree on........Go......and argue no more....be at peace and in love Unite...
(Luk 1:54)
He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
(Luk 1:55)
As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

EPH.4:3.
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

the purpose of the scriptures stated above EPH.4:14 is saying, we all receive varying 'Spiritual Gifts,' therefore we will not be
carried away by every wind of doctrine. it says that when we receive this , that
we are striving to come into the 'unity of the Faith' and to reach the ideal of the fullness of the stature of
of Christ.
the scripture after speaks of the Body-working-together, that is, every - finger-nose-joint, All WORKS
TOGETHER, like a 'finely crafted swiss-watch, in other-words, every part works together in conjunction
with each other, and when the Body of Christ reaches this point, it is self-protecting,-self-preserving,
with Jesus Christ being the Head, = it is impossible to be defeated, we will ALWAYS HOLD VICTORY
IN THAT Proverbial BAG, that is, THE FRUIT OF UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST.

The prayer of Jesus at the Last Supper has much petition to the Father for unity among Believers.

John 17:
9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.
---
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

My comments

Truth should never be compromised for unity

For example the ambitions of ecumenical movements of the current day are horribly deceiving and will produce nothing but a look-alike "Christianity" at its worst

Did the Lord ever predict that the professing church would be unified? [Revelation 2; 3]

He did not .... there is a road that leads to life .... but few will find it .... there is the narrow gate, but not many will enter there in

Would He prefer a unified assembly? .... yes, but only will those who are truly His Ecclesia are united in truth, but not by a visible religious movement

..... a very small minority today among the "church" .... a mystery kingdom .... waiting to be revealed [Romans 8]

The Church certainly is united, as one body with many parts.

I am often the pessimist/realist, but our attitude must be optimist when dealing with the Church.
Surely there will be deceivers, fools, false prophets, and persecutions,
but we who are in Christ must encourage each other in love, and seek unity in Christ.

I have a question. Just what is unity? How is it achieved and by what spiritual entity is it achieved? Is it by knowledge? Or by patience, Love, ect. To me unity is because of the Holy Spirit dwelling in a child of the father.Unity is achieved by being members of Christs body through the indwelling Spirit. We are made one family, regardless of knowledge or maturity, even differance of non heretical doctrine. All can be covered by love if we are children of god , brother and sisters. This is one thing. The other is,are we different by our nature? Not born of God. Come out from among them and touch not an unclean thing. Or what agreement has light and darkness? It is the Holy Spirit that gives us unity.Regardless of our maturity or understanding. Whether you are a babe or aged in the lord. If we look to the Spirit and keep our eyes single, we will see the Spirit in others of our kind and automatically feel the deep down connection of family and unity.Debate and searching the scripture together will not cause disunity, But edification, learning, and spiritual progress.Sometimes the lord will correct us or chastise us because he loves us. And sometimes this will come by way of a bro or sister, if that is their calling. But many prideful will assume this is their mission from God and cause devilish division. WE should always remember the admonition to be Quick to here ,slow to speak, and slow to wrath. And remember the fallen work of the enemy concerning Pride.

Amen.
We can be unified in Christ even when we have a disagreement, or a dispute. That is exactly why we must teach in LOVE, because the outcome is not to prove ourselves right, but to help one another.
None of us have perfect theology, but if we have the Spirit within us, then we are to treat each other as members of the same body.

Statistically speaking, I don't think we can assume the majority of people visiting a Christian website are born-again believers... and therefore, there can't possibly be "Christian unity" with a lot of people who aren't Christians.

I think expecting unity here is a VERY nice idea,
but it's an unrealistic expectation.
: )

(I think a room full of "born again" believers would still disagree on things... but we aren't anywhere near even discussing THAT dilemma. On a site like this we are probably way way below half.)
There is also unity in DisneyLand. Many are subscribing to a DisneyLand Salvation. I accepted Christ, now everything is great, and your life should be like mine. Actually this is what America has been doing and subscribing to for years. Also, carrying the cross will come to divide many people, the chaff from the wheat. The NWO and a false sense of peace are very dangerous.
