I'd heard we were not going to have dinner with the local family (we as in me, my dad, sister, brother and his wife). I thought perhaps people had other plans, but i didn't know the reason for sure. I just read a post my dad put on FB saying that we were told there would be 'too many people' and that's why we were not invited. This is my dads sister, her kids and their kids. Such a Christian way to act. My dad and I have done Thanksgiving every year for six years with these people. My dad longer, since he was here before i was. My brother and his wife were apart of it last year, being new to the state. And my sister just came up recently, so it's her first time. And this is the welcome she gets. And people wonder why i think family means so little.
That's pretty crummy. :( Are you and your family (dad and siblings) going to have your own Thanksgiving dinner instead? I hope so. Don't let their lack of hospitality ruin the day for you.

What is the difference between "turkey hugs" and "bear hugs"?

"Turkey hugs" - Gobble.. Gobble.. Gobble... *HUGS* Gobble.. Gobble.. Gobble...

"Bear hugs" - *HUGS* Nomnomnomnom...
Hahahaa... Somehow the bear hug sounds more painful...

On this thanksgiving day I'd like to say I'm thankful for my family. My father's side at least... my mother's side of the family is all a bit distant, but my father's side is really tight. We like to get together for family dinners, family breakfast, whatever.

Dad came down from Kentucky last night and he will be here until Sunday! :D :D :D

Of course we don't really need an excuse like thanksgiving to get together. Sometimes uncle Fred or uncle Brent or someone will just call their siblings up and say "Hey I've got (insert food here) cooking, come on over."

Well my family's table is shrinking so you'd probably be welcome to join them. Just might have to play a game of catch the turkey, talk about books, and endure the short lived debate on whether football or pumpkin chunking is the more appropriate TV program to watch.

Seriously though, that's a crappy way to find out you were uninvited for thanksgiving. Especially when it sounds like you weren't consulted to see if you were willing to come up with any alternatives for helping manage a larger group. You don't like hugs so…friendly pokes.
Football talk? Eww..

And pokes? How rude... where do you learn such behavior? =P

Yeah, we're doing things here. Though my brothers wife went out of town for the holiday, so she won't even be here haha. Which stinks as my dad and brother always talk about their own stuff so i usually chat with his wife. Now who knows what will happen =P

Glad you're going to have your own family thing.

My family used to get together as in sibilings but this year, my Brother is at Disney world, my Sister wanted to go out to dinner, my Mom and Step Dad were supposed to go to Boston to visit my Sister but the weather's going to get bad so instead of coming to us, I invited them, they're going to stay home. I am making dinner at my Mother in laws for five people. It's sad, Thanksgiving used to be such a big family day.

This isn't the first holiday i've been set aside by people who you thought would want to be with you. Likely won't be the last time.
One time, when i lived in CA, and my only friend was my girlfriend of 8 years and she just disappeared that day, 'busy' doing who knows what. Didn't even hear from her til evening and she still didn't want to get together. I was living in my car then, so i spent the day sitting in my car in a grocery store parking lot because there was no where else to go. So yeah... i've had worse.

I'm spending today alone..just me and the cat.. while my parents and sister go out to dinner for Thanksgiving..my mom's excuse for not asking me to go also: "I know you don't like going out to eat so I didn't ask you." :/... fortunately I prefer to be alone anyway so it's all good, but STILL, it would've been nice to be asked to go, even if i did turn down the invite.. oh well, such is life.. #NOT the end of the world :)

Happy Thanksgiving (to those who celebrate.. and the rest).

Daniel, who learned a law was just decreed in the nation that praying to God will have him thrown in a lion's den, went into his upper floor, opened windows, facing Jerusalem, knelt down, prayed and gave THANKS to God just like he's been doing it, three times a day.

There's something about giving thanks to God - not only acknowledging and reminding us that He is our SOURCE, not one's ability to make living, etc - but also allows us to put our trust and rely on Him in situation where it seems there's nothing to be thankful for, seeing beyond the situation, acknowledging it is God who's in control, not the situation.

Whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, I wanna take this day to thank God, reminding myself again that I need to be thankful. I am really thankful for my parents (I realized very recently they are the biggest blessing in my life), for having a wonderful job, working for and with wonderful people, and for my Dad who cares about me, providing all my needs in His glorious riches. Amazing God. Simply amazing.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Well, I just got a call from my sister. My dad's on his way to the hospital, having trouble breathing. Apparently he went outside to shovel snow and when he went inside the house, couldnt breathe so my mom called 911.. now I get to sit here and worry until i get an update.. :( I put this in prayer requests also, but please pray for my dad. He has previously had a heart attack.. thanks.

Update: I just got word that my dad has some pulmonary edema, and will be at CVH definitely overnight, and may be moved to Burlington to Fletcher Allen hospital. He may end up needing heart stents. For now, he is comfortable and wearing oxy to help him breathe..

Online shopping. LOVE IT. Bath and Body Works has a huge sale going on today, and I was able to shop online and get free shipping and wow I saved a ton of money. Like, 35 dollars worth of savings.

also, Ladybug...that is AWFUL news to hear, especially on a day like today. Hoping and praying for some good news. <3

Very happy to have my mom, dad, and Nana together for thanksgiving. And my dad made breakfast while we watch the Macy's Day parade. :D

Just had Thanksgiving meal with my parents. It was good. Then I soon have to get ready for work until late, then tomorrow evening (God help me on that one), and Saturday. I'll survive, somehow.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
