By the logic of Romans chapter 14 I should not argue with you folks that you should celebrate Christmas. By the same logic, seeing nobody in all the "Christmas is EVIL!" threads has ever posted one real reason we should not celebrate Christmas, you people should not keep hounding us about this topic.

Go your way in peace and do not celebrate Christmas. Also go get a life and find something better to do than starting more of these threads every flipping year.

Sorry... that was going to be a nice post but my irritation got the better of me at the end of it.

How about this instead:

Grow up.

People can start as many threads and as many conversations as they want to on the topic of "Christ Mass" AND YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THEM NOR ARE YOU OBLIGATED TO READ EVEN A SINGLE POST CONTAINED THEREIN.

As such, nobody is "hounding" you, so, again, just grow up.

No, Lynx has a point. We can be polite as all get out to begin with, but there comes a point where even the mild-mannered members have had too much of this anti-Christmas jibe (it's all over CC) and we become irritated to the endth degree. So, let's just kill this thread and be done with it.

...and I could have been a bit more graceful in my response.

Look, I have nothing personal against you or anybody else here (or elsewhere), but we really all ought to be able to have discussions in relation to a whole host of different and even potentially divisive topics CIVILLY.

Anyhow, I apologize for being so direct, but we really all do need to handle ourselves as adults here...myself included.

Have a blessed day in the Lord.

Again, you're not under any obligation whatsoever to participate in any of these types of threads, so isn't any "irritation" self-inflicted?

I mean, c'mon...THE WORLD IS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH US on a host of different topics...should we go around being "irritated" with them, too? Last I read, "temperance" or "self control" was a fruit of the Spirit...as is "longsuffering" or "patience". As such, perhaps such "irritations" ought to get us to take a good, long look AT OURSELVES instead of seeking to place the blame for the same ON OTHERS.

Anyhow, like it or not, there are those Christians who don't celebrate "Christ Mass" and they don't celebrate "as unto the Lord" and there are also those who do celebrate "Christ Mass" and they do celebrate "as unto the Lord". Neither group is going to necessarily make the other group go away or convert, but, again, we ought to be able to CIVILLY explain and discuss the reasons behind our respective choices. For those who are "irritated" by the same, well, again, nobody is forcing any of you to even look at any of these threads, let alone to participate in the same. IOW, just take responsibility for your own actions and your own choices and stop pointing the finger at others.

But you gotta admit, it can be kind of fun to see how long you can get someone to keep arguing just by telling them reworded variations of "you're wrong."

No no, not overkill yet. We still need two more "Christmas is eeeeeeeeevil!" threads to reach this year's quota. Last year we had a bumper crop, y'see, and it set the bar a bit high for this year.

Hi, blue_ladybug.

I recognize the "lol" at the end of your post and I therefore consider that your "horrific gasp" might have been a bit facetious. In any case, here's what I recommend FOR ALL OF US (MYSELF INCLUDED):

How about WE ALL "gasp in horror" at the realization that there are countless souls who are presently perishing and we combine our efforts to best reach them?

It couldn't hurt.

I mean, Jesus said that "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matthew 12:25) and on this thread, as well as on a host of others, we have people who all claim to belong to the same kingdom basically going at each other's throats. What good can possibly come of the same? Are not either the aforementioned "desolation" or "inability to stand" the inevitable outcomes of the same? Again, CIVIL discussion isn't a bad thing. Even the early church had councils and the like to iron out their own differences, but I don't see the type of infighting taking place there as I regularly see taking place here on this forum. Again, "temperance" and "longsuffering", as well as several others, are "fruits of the Spirit" and if they're not being manifested in our own personas, then we really ought to just leave everybody else alone and go and spend some quality time before God to set our own selves right.

Anyhow, that's how I see it.

Have a blessed day in the Lord.

Nothing wrong with civil discussion. But reinventing the wheel six times every holiday season, complete with all the arguments, counter-arguments, counter-counter-arguments, etc. that we see many times every year... yeah, it gets a little old.

And blue_ladybug I am not delirious. Feline body temperatures are different from human, and much different from ladybug. A lynx can be expected to have a higher body heat. How do you think we survive all the stuff that keeps getting humans sick? =^.^=

Hi, Lynx.

For whatever it's worth, even though I don't celebrate "Christ Mass" myself, I do sympathize, to a fairly large degree, with those of you who do in relation to certain specific things. For example, I'm personally tired of seeing people present the same old misinformation as alleged "truth" which, in their minds, somehow denounces certain practices surrounding "Christ Mass". One such piece of misinformation is that Jeremiah chapter 10 is somehow speaking of the forerunner of "Christmas trees" and that's a bunch of hooey. Rather, as I've personally sought to document both here on this forum and elsewhere, Jeremiah chapter 10 is CONTEXTUALLY speaking of idols which were regularly overlaid with such things as silver and gold back in that day. Another such piece of misinformation is this whole "Santa" equals "Satan" thing which has come about solely in relation to the similarities in their spellings. If anybody paused to even think for a moment, then they would realize that the title "Santa" is given in relation to "Saint" (not that I believe that "Santa" is a "Saint", mind you) and nothing else.

Anyhow, everybody should really check their sources before embracing anything and then seeking to pass it off to others as alleged "truth". Quite frankly, with all of the discussions that I've personally read in relation to "Christ Mass" on this forum, it pains me to realize how little SCRIPTURE which actually pertains to the topic at hand has been cited.

Well, I'm going to go and eat some breakfast...

I think the bottom line is if your goal in celebrating christmas or not celebrating will please the Lord. God knows your heart so it doesnt matter what you do. If your goal is to celebrate the savior's birth then I think God will be pleased. And if your goal is to avoid the pagan traditions associated with christmas or avoid blasphemy if you think it is, then I think God will be pleased also. There are other ways to celebrate christmas, such as explaining to the young ones or the carollers the meaning of the christmas song hark the herald or sharing luke chapter 2, or gift giving to the less fortunate...if satan can twist the essence christmas, then we can also overcome his evil plans and turn it against him

actually I was being completely serious..NOT facetious.. I am truly appalled at how many dozens of holiday threads there are on here. We DO NOT need twenty million threads to debate the evils or goods of Christmas.. truth, yo.. :)

Well I think the problem for me is that I feel that those who dont celebrate are calling people who do sinners and not real Christians. And that those who dont are more Christlike. That would upset anyone.

you speak as if christmas is ordained by God as some spiritual command...satan's plan is to ensnare people in the myth of christmas celebration as being an ordinance of God....Christmas is a time when pseudo christian unite(have fellowship) with the ungodly of the world..(a thing that God forbids)...in celebration..and they think they are doing god service....

Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
