Is this how your 'church' operates on sunday morning?

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

From what I have seen in the majority of cases usually one rules the roost and everyone else sits around and waits for everything at his lips, bringing things similar to their attention (in question form) usually yeilds so blah answer that doesnt answer anything.

even if they do,

even if they observe yahweh's sabbath on the day yahweh appointed, and all the feasts if any,

but they aren't extravagantly generous and healing with the poor and the outcast, the widow and the orphan, the downtrodden and the passer-through,

then they have nothing.

As a starting point, your whole premise is off.

There is no place in scripture that says all of these things are supposed to be happening together on Sunday morning, or separately on Sunday morning, or even on Sunday at all.

You're making a huge assumption.

If you want to make an argument against cessationism...
you just say so, instead of setting up a silly premise that isn't in scripture.

The only way anyone in our church would speak in tongues is at gunpoint. Even then, it would ust be gibberish -- probably because they're at gunpoint!

This happen every Pentecost for you?

Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

You haven't grasped this yet...

1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
1Co 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

God doesn't expect the church today to do exactly as they did in 31AD anymore than He expects the church to do exactly as they did 3500 years ago...

Act 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

Sounds to me like most people here "speak in tongue in cheek"...

Anyhow, Yet, there was nothing wrong with your opening post, but rather something terribly wrong with the church at large today.

correct, awkwardly. there are multitudes speaking in tongues today, every day, every week,

and most never doing what the heavenly father says to do; since they're not pure in heart;

so they will never see the kingdom of heaven (unless like the lesson from the tower falling on the people and killing them for an example to use in TORAH, they repent, turn to Yahweh, and start living HIS WAY).

Just an encouragement...as this thread is borderlining a practice which is not good.

2 Corinthians 10:11-13Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

11*Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

12*For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 13*But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

Didn't mean to be a tongue thread. Read the whole deal. Different functions are to be manifest, not just tongues. Oh and I'm sorry that I use scripture for a wrong premise as someone accused me of. Hold it. Wait a minute. Since when is using sound scripture is pushing a false premise? Gee I better not say folks need to get saved...might be a false premise.

There is little doubt that the predominant clergy laity system is prevailing in main stream christianity today and is even embraced. There is also little doubt that having one big charismatic speaker that has spent the week preparing an entertaining message for the pew sitters, more or less nullifies the function of the many members of His body. People have a difficult time giving up this system even thought it could be argued scripturally that it is to be avoided.

lol.

I hear you and feel for you.

Don't sweat it.

Many people around here think that their own opinions usurp the very Word of God, so the problem is with them and not with your OP.

Have a good night.

The Holy Spirit moves amidst the seven churches, and manifests himself in perfection. Those who are deceived can not see the manifestation of the Spirit.

Faith, hope and love are the three manifestations of the Holy Sirit which produce the fruit of the Spirit.

if you are joined to a sect that does not teach this truth, then you dwell with the wicked.

just a thought.

Just a humble servant stirring the pot again. But is it really so amazing when you point to clear cut scripture on this matter you risk getting your caboose kicked some? Welcome to the land of Oz where truth and reality is in short supply, aka...the 'church'!

Seems many today want to all hold hands and sing kum bye ya, creating a nice cloak for wolves to hide in so they can lay waste to the flock. Who cares about judgement and truth when people have itchy ears and little to no integrity right? Have fun in you love feasts.......
