The Rock
Several Catholics have pointed out to me the NUMBER of New Testament passages that mention Peter shows that Peter was unique among all the other apostles.

I would point out that the NUMBER of passages that mention Abraham is far greater than the combined number of those that mention both Peter and Jesus!

Consider –
Is Peter the rock in the Old Testament? No. Christ is the Rock, as taught by the New Testament

Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Psalms 118:22

Matthew 21:42
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

1 Peter 2:4-8
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

The Keys
What door do the keys unlock? The door of the Kingdom of Heaven. How does Peter unlock the door to the Kingdom? Same way the Pharisees are said to have locked the door. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Matthew 23:13.
They shut it up with false claims about Jesus, with customs and doctrines of men. It comes down to words. Pharisees locked or shut up the kingdom by their words

Read Acts 2. You will find Peter stood and raised his voice and by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, preached the gospel for the first time.
Read Acts 10. You will find Peter opening the door to the Gentiles.

Catholics claim that Peter handed the keys to another, to a successor. If they are honest, they would have to admit that there is not verse in the Bible that teaches such a transfer.
My question to Catholics:
Why do you believe the Bible is the Inspired Word of God? What evidence do you rely on for you conviction that the Bible is the Word of God?

This forum has bitter and angry disputes on all the issues I mention, all Protestant affairs, and indeed the same issues have been responsible for congregations fracturing with monotonous regularity. You cannot simultaneously hold that the Eucharist is both real presence in flesh , spirit or just a symbol, and you cannot belong to a congregation that holds the opposite view to yours, because the other commits a profanity. Nor can you believe in both OSAS and at the other extreme believe that you are not saved until judgement, and how you live your life as a Christian will depend which views you mix and match from a VERY long list of issues! It is precisely because the evangelists have such shallow theology, that they fudge all these issues nor had good answers that I had to move on.

Then check out the history of the bible and see that it did not drop out of the sky. The first Christians were not bible Christians as you understand it because the New Testament did not exist yet, the faith was passed on by paradosis, tradition, meaning a " handing down" which is why Paul says " hold true to tradition taught to you by word of mouth and letter" , notice he does not say
Gospels, they did not exist at that time in common circulation. And it is also why the bible says " the pillar and foundation of truth is the church" , not the bible. So if you look in scripture to see where it says " to be true it must be in the bible" and you will look in vain, it is not there. Sola scriptura is an impossible doctrine in historic and logical terms, and the bible nowhere says it.

In short , open your eyes and study the shaky theological ground you walk on, don't worry about pointing fingers at others

It's one of the hazards, all these noisome, unrelenting people, but you have to expect that, when you're trying to get people to swap out the truth.

My suggestion is you study it. And see all that I said about scripture is a true reflection of history. Most Protestants don't seem to know where their New Testament came from , or how the faith was passed on in the early church, even though Paul says it.

So we regard scripture as it is, the inspired word. We just do not make the claim that all necessary truth is there, because it is logically historically and biblically unsupportable. Wherein the bible does it say it has to be in the bible? It says the pillar of truth is the church because that is consistent with history. So we read church fathers to fill in the gaps, to understand what they thought it meant, indeed why they picked the canon they did, and rejected others.

For example the didache is clear on the rite of baptism , ignatius clear on the need for a bishop to preside or empower.
The reason they did these things was that was passed on to them from apostles, before the New Testament was a book.

Study it . Learn something, see if it is compatible with your theology, don't worry about pointing at RCC

Simple truth is that you trust men more than you trust God.

Since you reject that the bible contains all the necessary truth you add to the bible and according to the bible you add to yourself all the plagues of the bible.

All the wisdom of man is utter foolishness before God.

Its a matter of my seeing them for what thy are.what they have done is shown that they are not God's church, that in fact they are far from God indeed that they are no better than their predecessors who murdered, raped and persecuted God's people...

it's doubtful he/she/it enjoys the heresies. moth.ther. was tormented all her life with demons, never had the assurance of salvation not even once in her life, and didn't enjoy anything about the heresies.... at least it's not likely --- she believed she deserved to suffer every day (she did deserve to, and she did),

she told her patients they couldn't have anything for their pain no matter how bad, because the suffering was from 'god'(her false god) and would use the suffering to somehow 'purify' them....

so she and those here who are still decieved by the rcc think that all the suffering they suffer at the hands of their priests and hierarchy and doctrines and demonic practices
is doing them good for
when they go to purgatory... like it will shorten the time they have to spend there...
