I've been checking out different Study Bibles for the past few weeks. I like the way that the Reformation Study Bible (ESV) is laid out (great format with interesting notes and commentaries).

Does the connoctation "Reformation" presuppose that this ESV SB version is primarily addressed to Lutherans or Calvinists? Anyone here have experience using this particular Study Bible? Are there other SB's that you could recommend?

You might try instead a small library of several translations, a good dictionary, a Bible Handbook, a Bible Almanac, and a short Theology.

Is there a difference between the "Reformed" ESV Study Bible and the ESV Study Bible? The ESV Study Bible was the first bible to win the Christian Book of the Year award, and it's been recommended to me highly.
I had a Nelson Study Bible that I liked very much, it was very helpful. You might want to check that one out :)

I personally I like to get a side-by-side English/Hebrew (at least as far the OT) study Bible and compare between the original language and the translation. Of course that would mean I need to get me some learning in Hebrew, but I've planning to do that for a while :)

Who is "DAKE" ? Never heard of him. What is his Trinity View and what makes his view different from other so-called mainstream Trinity views?

DAKE
is just a man
that in his lifetime
studied and gathered as much info as possible
from every source he knew of
or every source he felt attributed his stances upon his own views
and then copied the original text of the KJV
but added highlights
like any other co-author would such as
THOMPSON CHAIN- JIMMY SWAGGERT-ORAL ROBERTS-NELSON
and many other do
which is for every verse written
they give their opinion to as what they think it means.

NOW
as far as the TRINITY goes
DAKES views are the same as any other person that believes in the TRINITY
I
MYSELF
see
COLOSSIANS 2:9
WHICH says in JESUS you have the complete GODHEAD in HIM
so
I believe
JESUS is the FATHER SPIRIT GOD-HOLY GHOST-WORD as 1 JOHN 5:7 says
JOHN 14:8-11 proves COLOSSIANS 1:15-17 JESUS-FATHER are same
MATTHEW 28:19 proves who "IN THE NAME" and that name is ACTS 2:38
I believe
in
ONENESS
but
I also feel take away DAKES personal trinity views
he is pretty much on the mark on generally most things

YES
most preachers like myself and those I know
have
atleast 1 DAKES BIBLE and like me I have 4 COMPREHENSIVE study BIBLES and CONCORDANCES

I read an article saying that Drake's belief of the Trinity is three separate persons each with their own spirit and soul .

In answer to your actual post, yes this Bible is geared toward Reformed and Calvinist Christians.

I'd suggest the archaeological study bible for tons of academic, historical and culture notes and articles. The life application study bible is good for more ummm..life application.

The thing about DAKE
is
as you read his version of the original KJV BIBLE
he has letters A-Z to emphasize important meanings.
and
if you follow his so-called 89 PROOFS of the TRINITY
there are examples he gives that when you look up for yourself have nothing to do with any name or form of GOD
I
trully believe he thinks that many will just assume he is correct and take it for that.
WHAT
I WILL POINT OUT
is for everything you read he has blocked off into sections pertaining to category.
AND
1 JOHN 5:6-7 which speaks about
WATER-BLOOD-SPIRIT these 3 can only agree as one
and
FATHER-WORD-HOLY GHOST these 3 ARE ONE
he has blocked off as all 5 to be the make-up as JESUS CHRIST
or
FATHER-WORD-HOLY GHOST-WATER-BLOOD = JESUS
so
for a man going well out of his way to prove the TRINITY
he undid it all in 2 verses of scripture.
SEE
when the HOLY GHOST gets ahold of you
you do as your told not as you want.......

Lets see now...I think I need a further clarification: Lutherans are categorized as Reformed Christians - as also are Calvinists. Baptists also? (Am I right so far?)

Okay then, I am aware that Baptists are 4square behind the KJV Bible, but what about the other two? Their formation preceded the 1611 AV KJV by some 80 years. Do Calvinist and Lutheran Congregations (here in the USA) have their own Bible (both German-language oriented and linguistically unlike the KJV)? Perhaps a derivative of Luther's German translation (circa 1520) or (for Calvinists) an iteration of the Geneva Bible?

Yet the Reformation Study Bible (the basis for starting this thread) is merged within the ESV translation. Is this an ecumenical move put forth by the Lutherans and Calvinists to facilitate entry of newcomers to their respective folds?

Some of the Baptist are German Baptists and have a connection to the Reformation. Most of the Baptists in America have more recent (as in several hundred years) origins. Not all Baptists are KJV only. Most of the modern translations draw from numerous denominations, including Baptists, Lutherans and Presbyterians. The Geneva Bible was one of the translations referred to in the translation of the KJV. I think that you might be able to get a translation of Luther's Bible from one of the Lutheran presses. I think that the reason for a Reformed Study Bible is because of the recent dominance of Baptist thought in Study Bibles.

Lutherans aren't really staunch calvinists. They came from the same time period, but have a different emphasis.

the dake which I have also teaches the gap theory which I don't agree with

EXACTLY
it is
a good reference BIBLE
but
DAKE himself
definitely
did his best
at persuasion
BUT
A TRUE BELIEVER and FOLLOWER of ALMIGHTY GOD
CAN
SPOT his many errors
