How do we seek “Truth”?

Are we truly walking in truth? This thread is to examine what is the source of our belief. What is the foundation upon which we are built? Is it really “Truth”.

(John 18:38 [BWE])

Pilate said, What is “Truth”?.....
(Prov 3:3 [UKJV])
Let not mercy and “Truth” forsake you: bind them about your neck; write them upon the table of your heart:

(Prov 12:17 [UKJV])
He that speaks “Truth” shows forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
(John 1:17 [LONT])
for the law was given by Moses-the favor and the “Truth” came by Jesus Christ.
(John 1:17 [20cNT])
for the Law was given through Moses, love and “Truth” came through Jesus Christ.
(John 14:6 [BWE])
Jesus said to him, I am the way. I am the “Truth”. I give life. .....
(John 8:45 [BWE])
You do not believe me because I tell you what is “Truth”.
(John 16:13 [BWE])
When the “Truth”-giving Spirit comes, he will show you everything that is “Truth”. He will not speak his own message, but he will tell you the things that he has been told to tell you. ......

Every time I begin a study in scripture I begin with a question. What is the meaning of a word or phrase? What does the scripture teach? What does Jesus have to say about the subject. What is “Truth”?

When I was young I didn't seek out the truth. I didn't seek the meaning of words, but just believed what I was told. I took for truth what others had said was truth. I believed what my bible teachers and commentaries said was truth.

I did not go directly to God for the truth. I was not God's witness, but the witness of men.
I began to see glaring contradictions in what I believed in comparison to the Scripture. I didn't understand why until I began to read the scripture and believe it as it was written. I no longer changed or twisted the passages to match what I was taught. I let the scripture speak for its self and at that point all the man made doctrine began to be exposed. I discovered how much non-truth was a part of my theology.

Yes! Correct! The message is quite simple, but men need to add their 2 cents. This is why Jesus said," You make the word of God ineffective by your traditions". Those traditions were doctrines or teachings meant to alter the commandments of God This practice is still prevalent today by many churches. Systematic theologies approach the scripture from preconceived notions and alter the meaning to be in line with their view. Now some may have not had ill intentions and thought they were doing something good. Yet! Approaching scripture from, "I'm going to prove my idea's of what I think it says" is disastrous no matter the good intentions.

What is Truth?

I know what Jesus said.......

John 17:17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Now, I see this in two parts: The Living Word - which Jesus is, and His Written Word.

I have had people in the past who wanted me to alter certain passage to fit their agenda. They fail to see that the Words come directly from God and are not subject to alteration. The Words stand as it. However, the problem we face today is not simple. Translators will translate according to their systematic theologies and thus change the text to say a certain idea.
Case in point:
(Jer 17:9 [UKJV])
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

The Hebrew does not contain the words "deceitful nor desperately wicked". The original language contains, "the heart is very deep [as in ocean] and feebly sick" [as in weak]. So the translation should read something like,"no one can understand the heart because it is deep like the ocean and so sick and weak that it can't make the proper decisions".
The closest translation is the LXXE Brenton's Septuagint and Apostolic Bible Polyglot.
(Jer 17:9 [LXXE])
The heart is deep beyond all things, and it is the man, and who can know him?

(Jer 17:9 [ABPen])
Apostolic Bible Polyglot
[3 is deep G901 1 The G3588 2 heart G2588] beyond G3844 all things G3956, and G2532 man G444 is G1510.2.3, who G3748 shall know G1097 him G1473?

Deep
G901 (Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries)
G901 βαθύς bathus (bath-oos') adj.
1. profound (as going down)
{literally or figuratively}
[from the base of G939]
KJV: deep, very early
Root(s): G939
Compare: G899

Feeble
H605 (Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries)
H605 אָנַשׁ 'anash (aw-nash') v.
1. to be frail, feeble, or (figuratively) melancholy
[a primitive root]
KJV: desperate(-ly wicked), incurable, sick, woeful.

The Word of God is alive and is sent forth from God to accomplish His will and does not return back to Him empty, but achieves what ever He sends it to do. The Word of God became flesh. This is why it is so important to hang onto every word Jesus spoke. This is why it is so important "Not" to change Jesus' Words to match some mans doctrine.
I have determined for myself not to believe anything unless Jesus teaches it or alludes to it. This is how I spot the doctrines of men and demons. The doctrines of men will usually conflict with Jesus and the doctrines of demons will always conflict with Jesus.

But! Can we spot the deception? That's where the problem comes into play. There are many false teachings in the church today and many can't spot them because they equate them with scripture. A verse is twisted just enough to give it another meaning and is accepted as truth. Deception always rides on the back of truth. A con man can't con you if he does not present truth with the con.

Alright! Just bare with me here because I'm going to split hairs.
The Word of God is "ALIVE". If you do a search on Word of God, Word of the Lord and other associated words you will see a dynamic of a conscious entity on the Words part. For instance, "The Word of the Lord spoke to me and said". The Word moves about as a separate and conscious entity with intent and action. The bible on the other hand is just a book of ink and paper with recorded words of God, satan and men. The Living Word of God cannot be confined to paper and ink. However, when the Holy Spirit brings a text to mind and it flies of the page at us, we are experiencing the Living Word of God speaking to us. The Word of God is new and fresh every time it is spoken to us. I say this because a lot of people are stuck at the paper and ink level and never arrive at the Living Dynamic Word of God.

Which is why I made the distinction between the Living Word and the Written Word. The Holy is and will remain the Written Word of God. Why would you want to deny this? It makes no sense. Jesus Himself spoke that they testified of Him. The Holy Bible is far more than "just a book of ink and paper." Well, in my opinion only anyway.

Ok, given this and your other comment, you had an agenda when you Authored this thread. Fine, most every one does. :)

I'll leave you to it.
