You mean is it wrong for you to date a guy who is 20 or 22 when your 16? Yes it is. Because your underage to date someone that old. I would suggest that once your 20 or 21, then think about dating them. It won't be wrong in legal terms then. Also you will be much more mature and ready for such a relationship.

Depends how much younger. But you're still in high school. Shouldn't really be thinking of it in the first place. Like others said as you become older and mature more than you will be.

Then that's not a problem at all. Again, though. God should what you're seeking first and foremost. Not some boy.

Does it truely matter to you, personally..what a total stranger on the internet says about the age difference? Will you take it to heart? Will you honestly listen and care? People fall in love (or at least think they do) and it matters NOT to them what others think. Ask 1000 people and you get 1000 different opinions. Are you truely gonna roll over in your sleep tonight after reading all of these responses and let them make a difference in your choice? Come on now....lol

Depending on what state you live in, it's likely that it's legally fishy.

However, I would have a problem with it ethically because a young man in his 20's is in a completely different life place than a young woman who is 16.

Now I know that some young people will say, "I'm very mature for my age," and that might be true. But maturity and life development aren't the same. A mature 16-year-old girl cannot understand what it's like to be a 50-year-old menopausal woman because she is simply lacking the life experience to get it. That's not a slam on anyone's abilities or intelligence.

Additionally, I'd be curious about why a 20-something young man is dating a 16-year-old and not a woman in his own peer group. When you get to age 22, you'll look back at your 16-year-old self and get how kind of slimey it seems for men that age to pursue very young women.

There is a trend in our culture for men to pursue very young women. There are lots of reasons why this trend exists. Part of it has to do with the pornification of the larger culture and the sexualization of younger and younger people.

Honestly, I would have some serious concerns. Additionally, I think you should maybe try to discuss this with your parents. I imagine they would be concerned about their 16-year-old daughter dating a man in his 20s.

the prob is they know and are fine with it and hey I know about this a 20 year old girl wanted to date me but she wanted to move to fast she wants to get married and have kids I am to young for that and lack the mind to do so I would say just date young men around your age but as well be carful they as well can be fishy I just don't trust guys in todays world.

To write what I'm thinking about this topic,
Let me tell to you Mohogany_1
that you can ask your parents first,
because it's yours that raised you...
And, to not spread any troubles here...
I'll keep my opinion from myself!

May be age difference can matter!

I think love makes a better difference. :)

(though I haven't forgotten to consider cross generation relationships) - that wouldn't be cool in one way or the other.

Look the truth is this is totally your call and if your totally Ok with it and its no probs with your mum n dad then...thats your call then. The actual age difference isnt an issue - its just four years. I think people are more on about the fact that four years when your 16 is kinda a bigger deal. Now please bear in mind that I'm 14, have never had a bf so...what do I know right?...so..this is just my thoughts and feelings about your question, that at 16 hanging with a 20 is maybe a bigger deal then if you were 20 and he was 24. Either way hope your having fun n life is good to you.

You are 16, he's 20 or 22. Legally, he can get charged with statutory rape of a minor. This is NOT your call, it is your parent's decision to make. You're a minor and until you're 18 they are your guardians. Zoii shouldn't be saying that age doesn't matter because it DOES matter here. You're a minor child, he's a full-grown adult..

Ladybug that's not wot I said. I actually said that at 16 hanging with a 20 is maybe a bigger deal then if you were 20 and he was 24.

Maybe put your own opinion across and resist incorrectly stating what other's opinions are.

Both the age and love may leave the big difference in any relationship.
