Hello all to those people starting to get on in life now. Those way past their teens and 20's. Those into their 30's and fast approaching 40. It seems like just yesterday I remember my dad celebrating his 40th birthday.

That was about 30 years ago now wow!

Anyway I am probably going to meet my demise and not spread my oats as they say and I will probably die kidless.

Thats okay. I've accepted that. Although anything could happen. I mean, I could meet my wife tomorrow and be in the hospital in 9 months time while she gives birth. But by my own will, by my own doing I doubt that. But who knows Gods will and plan for our life? God is good so I know that no matter how bad, how low, how depressing things get, He will restore more to me than I lost. But yeh, that's after I die. Man sorry didn't mean this to be depressing.

Anyway, I guess what I wanted to ask is, do you want kids but don't?

I feel like if I don't have kids my whole life has been a vain pointless waste as that is the only reason we are here to multiply right?

Genesis 9:7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

Someone help me get my head around this! <3

I have kids! So...I don't think your life will be pointless. However if you feel that spreading knowledge and helping a child grow in Christ may I suggest becoming a Big Brother? Many young boys and teens have no male Christian role model and could use a man who loves God. This will help you with feeling less pointless because you personally didn't spread your seed. Cause so e other man did and has abandoned many of those boys with only a woman to guide them. So good Christian men are always wanted.

Don't have
Probably won't have
Bothered? A bit. If I don't procreate, my family tree ends here.

Aaand don't want. I like kids, but am not interested in raising any.

The verse the OP provided, "be fruitful and multiply", could refer to anything, really. It's not limited to just producing children, but also good works.. :) Doing the good work of the Lord, and watch it multiply. jmo

I have a 35 year old daughter and 3 grandkids. At your age it is likely that if you do meet your future wife she will probably have a kid or two of her own. God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. God is not commanding anyone to have kids as that is a personal choice. The suggestion of JeniBean of becoming a Big Brother is definitely worth consideration.

I don't have kids, and probably ain't gonna. Doesn't bug me much.

Gotta disagree with the OP's final statement. Biologically an organism is considered successful if its offspring produce offspring. Emotionally it can be a comfort to have children as it provides a kind of immortality, knowing your children will carry on your name. But mentally, spiritually and socially my success or failure as a person does not depend on whether or not I have kids. It's not my primary reason for being on this planet.

What is my reason for being here? To enjoy life on this planet, which (despite the imperfections sin brought) is still a pretty awesome place. To help others who are dealing with some of the troubles of this now-imperfect world. To make a difference in the lives of those around me.

So far my life has been fairly successful.

I thought we were all here to find new ways to eat bacon.

...or possibly to glorify God, whether it's by raising a family, or doing His work.

Nah, it's gotta be about the bacon.

Although it could be just a phase, like my freshman high school year when I realized I could buy frosting in a can.

I don't have children, but I wanted them very much. At my age, biological kids are not likely... but not impossible.

I would have looked at adoption, but my husband wasn't interested. I would look at adoption with a future spouse - or fostering, but I would prefer an older child(ren)....if he didn't have some of his own, or if he were interested in having a child or more children. It's in God's hands either way.... and I am content with that.

Ironically growing up I did not want kids. Once I got married, I wanted 1 child. I end up having 5 kids :)

I used to not want kids but I wouldn't mind. My main concern is just not having the maturity yet.

Ever since I was quite young I've wanted children. But first, I need to find a wife. Currently, I'm not financially stable, so I can't do anything about that. But one day (I hope in the not too distant future), I hope to find that special someone, get married, having children and share Christ with them.

If I have kids, I have a feeling they're gonna be the ones answering all the questions the Sunday school teacher asks. Lol

I have always wanted five children, but in reality that may not happen but I would love to have at least three. Although, in the end the decision would have to be made between my future husband and I and God ultimately makes the final decision on that.

I do want kids and I want to get married before I have them haha! I don't know when that will happen or if it will. The thing is, we shouldn't focus on that because it can lead to depression. Just go with the flow and pray. We are never really alone, Jesus is always with us!

I've also read that God sometimes gives us spiritual children. So if you want to leave a legacy or whatever, you can minister to children or teenagers, or even adults! If you can help even just one person, your life was not a waste!

Plus God didn't make us to only procreate. He wanted a relationship with his creation. That is our ultimate purpose in life, to worship our Lord and have a relationship with him.

And then asking questions the teacher can't answer, no doubt. Been there.

If I ever had kids they would probably drive teachers nuts like I did. Maybe it's a good thing I don't really feel I have to have kids.
