Well shucks, I guess I'm just the type who cares about people. I think the source of your confusion as to my motives is that I'm not prejudiced against Muslims as you are, so the idea that people treat them as fellow human beings is alien to your thought process.

Caring for people is not equal to awarding them for purposely causing trouble.

I seriously doubt this kid really had no idea that attaching a clock to a briefcase makes it look like a bomb. He intentionally caused trouble by doing it, got himself in trouble, and is now seeking compensation for making trouble.

Mom and dad might have been wise to tell young Ahmed that making things that resemble bombs is not good for one's international image.
What do the parents care? Making things that RESEMBLE bombs, but aren't actually bombs seem like a good path to creating hysteria, claiming discrimination and a civil rights violation, and filing a $15 million dollar lawsuit. He and his family will likely get something out of the deal even if they don't get the $15 million dollars.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of brilliant kids in America who will never reach their full potential because the cost of higher education in America is astronomical, and it's getting higher ever year. So many brilliant kids who do obtain higher education in America end up having to foot the bill (student loans) themselves or the parents struggle to pay for it. Where are their scholarships and opportunities? Guess what? They didn't even take a device resembling a bomb to school and create public hysteria. But, where are their scholarships and opportunities?

Clock boy's father apparently has a history of trying to make a name for himself as a fighter against 'Islamophobia'. This whole thing may have been a setup to achieve that purpose.
I think you are right.

You support his receiving money for being stupid? Says a lot about you.

No doubt you'd feel the same if he was, oh, let's say, a WHITE CHRISTIAN!

Yeah, right!

Not with me it hasn't. I hate islam even more so. I don't even dignify it with a beginning capital letter.

His name is Ahmed Mohamed, not "clock boy". Your attempts to dehumanize a child are pretty odious. if it were a christian being kicked out because he came packing a gun you'd be tripping over yourself defending his right to pack heat. Then you laughingly claim his religion isn't at the forefront of your mind.

The school is public and free so I fail to see how a settlement would be passed on to you. The United States is one of the least taxed nations in the developed world so I fail to see the cause for your protests of being "overtaxed". He is not going to get 15 million, but he deserves compensation for what the school did to him.

I can only speak for myself, mind you. But if a Christian kid brought a gun to school or a clock that looked like a bomb I would expect him to get the same treatment. I know if I had done something like that I'd be more afraid of what my parents would do to me than what authorities would do. It would be a Bart Simpson moment. :p

I don't care what his religion is, he doesn't deserve 15 mill. and a trip to the White House. Religion has nothing to do with it as far as I'm concerned.

This is one thing I hate about modern society, "You did something to me that made me feel bad...give me money!"

I don't think his deserves remotely 15 million or even a million. However he was arrested falsely, questioned without parents present and threatened by police and the school principle. There was also some documented bullying and harassment by students and even some teachers because he is a Muslim. It's not even the first time he has brought electronic constructions to the school.

A lot of people here are going to act like he "had it coming" or it was no big deal, and I guarantee as sure as my butt is pasty white that if it were them his situation they'd be suing faster than a cheetah on a caffeine bender. Actions need to have consequences and just because this kid is Muslim doesn't mean he is less entitled to due process and access to his civil rights.

Right! A toddler would be able to tell you that would look like a bomb.

I am happy to know that my twin brother did not try to sue the city of Long Beach, he sucked up with what happened to him, as something that happened..and moved on. He was 13 years old, and made a toy that looked like a rifle. He was big for his age, and looked like he was a full grown adult. He came to an intersection, and was surround by police! He tried to explain...but they ordered him down to the ground. The police after finding it was a toy, let him go! He did not scream "I have been offended, give me money!" He looked at reality, of what it must have looked like! I am joyed, for him for doing what was right! He took responsibility!

this kid gets an invite to the White House, numerous places in Silicone Valley, and others, yet the white kid, who was eating his Pop Tart, and some teacher thought he had bitten it to resemble a gun was kicked out of school.

Don't think we have to worry about islamaphobia with this clock boy...........white kids never got invites to the White House for their creativity.

In fairness it takes a little more talent and effort to make a clock that looks like a bomb than to make a poptart that looks like a gun.
