He died in His humanity, but spiritually He was never dead, else how could He have ministered to the imprisoned spirits, while physically in the grave? He also said He laid down His life of His own accord and had the authority to take it up again, so obviously He was not dead in the way we will die, knowing nothing until the resurrection. Dead Gods do not resurrect themselves. He is the eternal second Person of the Godhead. Eternal = undying.
