Satan has been working hard to destroy the food chain of every nation on earth. Having all people suffering malnutrition would work well toward his goal to destroy humanity, or at least neutralize us to be unable to promote the gospel. There are plenty of necessary factors requiring maximizing production of food. Small farms are not efficient enough to feed a world of hungry people. The people are there, we can't change that humanely, so we have to grow as much food as possible. It takes wise use of our arable lands, permanent croplands, and pastures. We need a variety of food resources including cattle for protein, fiber, and mineral nutrients.
Huge areas of the USA are used for cattle grazing (pastureland) because of situations like where there's only an inch or two of suitable soil over rock. Practically all that acreage is fit only for grazing on native grasses supplemented by seeded pasture where enough rainfall will support it.
I say that to explain that even though producing meat on range/pasture is definitely inefficient, it's the only option for growing food on most of our agricultural acreage. Most planted annual crops require irrigation and costly weed/pest control that is still hazardous to our health. English walnuts grown in California require 5 gallons of water per nut. We have lost a huge percentage of many types of crops due to drought and flooding recently, while pastures resume production much quicker. The idea is to grow a variety of foods so that when protein rich crops fail, meat is available, and cows can be moved around. Protein source foods are generally more expensive to grow, using a lot more resources like water and soil nutrients than required for cattle. Filling a water tub with drinking water for cows has negligible impact on our fresh water supply compared to growing rice or soybeans, which are lowering the water table from east to west coast.
Support food diversity rather than boycott it.
