Dear friends, relatives, and countrymen, but mostly relatives...
...When your niece goes and sits by herself at the table in the corner, do not deliberately pass up the seats at the main table where everyone else is sitting and where your niece would have sat if she wanted to sit by people, and instead sit right next to her in such a way as to prevent her leaving (i.e. escaping) the corner where she is sitting if she doesn't want to be around you, which she obviously doesn't, for the purpose of keeping her, quote/unquote, "in line." You are not endearing yourself to her, nor are you are not building her character. You are cornering a nervous creature of tempestuous character. I had to pray very hard for grace (which is equivalent to your safety) in the face of this trial.

Lovingly, your crowded niece.

I get where you're coming from, but it would've been even sadder if they ignored and left you alone. Part of family is sticking together. This may seem a little harsh, but if for some reason time and circumstance would change to leave you alone, either by a family who doesn't love you or act like a family, or by the death/loss of one that did... Your perspective would change.

We always say to live in and not miss the moment, but don't lose sight of the greater picture and what's really important by getting too caught up in a single moment.

This is true. Now I'm not sure what to think of the situation.. I can totally relate to crosstweed's view, but you made a good point..

So. Super Bowl Sunday.

Who are you rooting for?
Honestly, I don't feel a connection to either team. When I lived on the east coast my favorite teams were the eagles and the steelers because I lived in and near pennsylvania. It was the rams for awhile when they were still here in cali and I even worked with the daughter of one of the ram's staff members. Now I have no team. :( The one team I don't like though is the patriots. Mostly because I don't like tom brady.

This is a dynamic that I've always found interesting if football fans, their like (or dislike) of a quarterback gets projected to an entire team. Kinda like the number of Indy Colts fans who switched allegiance because Peyton moved to Denver.

I learned which teams were playing in the Super Bowl from the boy I pick up for church. This kid is very enthusiastic about whatever he is into at the time, so all the way to church I got an earful of how he liked the Broncos and hated the Panthers.

Then right after church a friend showed me his phone with the score. He knows I don't care about sports... that was why he showed me it, being facetious.

So now, through no fault of my own, I know the Broncos are winning at halftime. Or at least they were when church was over.

In the meantime....

I'm not even a sports fan and this still made me smile.

There is a vast world of difference between being sad and needing comforting and being cranky and wanting personal space. Naturally I love my family and would be sad if something happened to them, and would look with greater fondness on the times we had together, good and bad, in hindsight. But that does nothing to alter the fact that they were driving me to a precarious edge at the time.

Uh, to be honest... If the Dallas Cowboys aren't there... I don't give a flip about football lol.

I just watch the commercials, and the halftime show. That's it. :)

This girl is really facing the camera - like the scary girl in The Ring.

Except with blonde hair.

And better legs. And not covered in stuff and a nicer dress.

I think I ate something bad.

And I'm from Canada.

no i'm not.
