And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

An active and sincere belief in Jesus Christ as our atonement for sin will credit us with righteousness. Faith in Christ's work on the cross ... and a willingness to allow him to perfect us.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Righteousness is imputed to us by faith only, however those who have faith keep the commandments unless you feel our Father is kidding when He shares with us His will.

not sure how to answer this. I assume that the key is "what will bring righteousness" if so the answer is to believe in the only son of God, Jesus and Righteousness is imputed to us freely. Love for God alone brings righteousness and we love Him because He first loved us. Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for a friend.

Jesus is our righteousness.

Yes this. It's also the only active command. The others are: don't sin, don't sin, don't sin. You still sin if you do absolutely nothing. Much easier to focus on loving Him and then His Love makes you love others and draws you to do what He wants.
First thing that happened when I got born again was I so hated these girls in school who were gossipping lol and then I gossiped to someone else: hey she is bad, she gossips so much hahahahaha and I prayed the sinner's prayer and all of a sudden I could hug them, I loved them.

I shall keep the love feast set up by our Lord at the last supper, and instigated by His actions throughout His ministry, that is that; The same night He was betrayed, he took bread and broke it and shared it with his disciples saying "This is my body given for you, do this in remembrance of me" later He took the cup of wine and shared that with His disciples saying "Drink this cup, it represents my blood poured out for the remission of sins". This is done with reverence and self searching to bring all that is of us to Jesus so He can renew us and make us His, so the scripture is fulfilled which says "When we make His sacrifice an offering for our sin, He shall see His seed"

There are lots of places in scripture that show what the Lord did when he sat with His disciples to instigate this love feast. anything else, any other feast or days to keep or special commitments are made by men and are not from God no matter what name it is given or what meaning is put behind it.

If to you a day is special then to you it is, and your conscience will be judged by God in the last day concerning anything done in God's name.

He is coming quickly, and His reward is with Him

keep this command: cling to Him, and love one another just as He first loved you.

My Question is, Who here is brave, or foolish enough, to say they can go 24 hours without breaking one of these commands? or for that matter, 12 (unless we are in a deep sleep)?

Amen!....those commandments are from the law which Jesus fulfilled for us. Now we have new commandments in the New Covenant. Jesus loved the Lord His God with all His heart, soul, mind and strength and He loved His neighbor as Himself. He is the fulfillment of those commandments in the Old Covenant.

Now we are in Him and by His life in us we obey the new commandments and thus end up fulfilling the intent of the law through love.

1 John 3:23 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

and then you sleep all day so you can't commit a sin and you're called a lazy servant.
I once made a thread somewhere where a guy taught that everyone who commits sin is from the devil and you had to be sinless. My thread was: It works! I don't sin anymore!
I kicked the children out of the house.

Love one another as He commanded....so what does that mean?

Would involve being obedient to the moral law?

Yes.

The days are coming,” declares the*Lord,
****“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
****and with the people of Judah.
32*It will not be like the covenant
****I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
****to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
****though I was a husband*to[a]them,
declares the*Lord.
33*“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
****after that time,” declares theLord.
“I will put my law in their minds
****and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
****and they will be my people.
34*No longer will they teach*their neighbor,
****or say to one another, ‘Know theLord,’
because they will all know*me,
****from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the*Lord.
“For I will forgive*their wickedness
****and will remember their sins*no more.”

I have a Jewish ancestor who wrote a book on how he found out Jesus is the Messiah from the O.T. first.
When he got saved there was an instant total change. He was set free from his burden of sins. Amazing to read.

Which would mean for the christian the moral law is good to be obedient too. Christ the Lord, requires obedience from His children.

Amen!

I love the New Covenant law that the Lord writes on our hearts in Christ now as prophesied.

1. The law of love
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)

2. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
Romans 8:2 - for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death

3. The perfect law of liberty
James 1:25 - the prefect law of liberty

The Law written in our hearts is Jesus

Jeremiah said those who had the new law written on their hearts would know the Lord and would no longer need others to teach them. This is describing your union with Christ. One with the Lord you have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16). His Spirit dwells in you and teaches you all things (John 14:26).

The law of the Lord written into your members is your Father’s spiritual DNA. It is the seed of God birthed in you by the Holy Spirit. It’s Jesus himself.

How do you know he’s there? Because you are a new creation with new hopes and desires. You no longer want to sin. Your desire is to love God and others and that desire has nothing to do with old rules written in stone.

Christian, you are who you are because Christ lives in you. He is the new law written, by God, in your heart and mind

I don't think the text is only for Israel and according to some we are lost tribes anyway lol.
