Heaven isn't really a thing. It is the life laid out to us by the Lord.
ACTS 7
54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Manstanding at the right hand of God.”

No, we still have to trust the Lord. However, when we resist temptation, we get ourselves into a lot less trouble and need the Lord's help a lot less.
We always need the Lord's help.

He is the one who causes us to resist temptation.

He leads us to the point we realize resisting is the only thing that makes us happy.
I believe He does both ... Sometimes He works with us, as you say ... sometimes He does it for us outright.

If we don't make an effort to resist temptation, life will not be pleasant for us.
When I am aware of temptation I certainly do try to resist it. 'Resist the devil and he will flee'

Hi resurrection, don't know if you have ever done a word study on gates and
doors in the bible, it is truly fascinating. I did start a bit of a blog at one point
on here, but only got so far.

The thing about doors and gates is that they are used to keep things out,
including Jesus. But he persists and stands at the door gently knocking.
He does this because he is the way, the only way. If he did not keep
knocking we would be lost because there is no other way.

But he never forces the issue, just waits for us to get it. Then when we open that
door our lives are changed for ever. I don't know so much about the heaven bit as
soon as we let him in. I think of it as more as the getting to know the groom
bit before the wedding and before moving into his house in eternity. :)

Ive had so many dreams about doors over the years I have lost count.
But in each one, I have always been on the inside of the house or room in
question. I think also there is an element that we can open doors to the wrong things.
So for example sin was crunching at the door of Cain.

Yes he does.... he might come right back at ya... but he does flee when we resist.

amen and the more we know he flees when we resist...resisting isn't the key in this scripture it says " submit yourselves to God and resist and He will flee....the armor of God is our gear always. the mind is where we decide upon resistance. He has no choice but to flee if we are submitted to God and also resist. All authority is in the spirit of Christ in us. romans 6 " if one does not have the spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ" the spirit in us has the power to make the devil flee the more we believe what it says about the spirit being with us, the less the enemys effort has power, only because we are submitted to Jesus. submission to Jesus is by its very nature, resisting the evil one. evil is misidentified through the mind under law. righteousness is identified in the teachings of Jesus." submit youselves to God then, resist the devil and he will flee." Good post thank you for taking the time, God bless you

Interesting thought we enter into another realm/dimension a heavenly realm out side of our 3 dimensions where time and space no longer separates us from God. The awareness of God's intervention in our life. Heaven is a wonderful place.

John 14:

2"In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3"If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4"And you know the way where I am going."

Every time I bring this up, I get yelled at, but let’s give it another go:

I have explained to you folks that heaven is what our lives turn into when we repent of our sin, using this Bible verse as evidence:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

Well, guess what? I found another:

[19] Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to the LORD.
[20] This is the gate of the LORD;
the righteous shall enter through it. Psalm 118:19-20 RSV
' Heaven is what our lives turn into when we repent of our sin?' Your life may be Heaven but there are millions of Christians round the world who would disagree including those being under persecution for their faith.
