I can not believe this is being discussed. Any child in the Fourth Grade knows this is not true. One thing that seems to be ignored is if the earth were flat, and the oceans are real, how do they keep from draining away off the edges? I can not believe this is being discussed, or that I just discussed it.
I used to think the term oblate was significant. It is actually 42 km wider in diameter at the equater than the poles of less than 0.5% so invisible on any picture of the earth. ( diameter is 12,700km across)
This came up because a muslim said the koran says the earth is like an osteriches egg which it certainly is not. They were trying to get round Mo thinking the earth was flat.
