Can a mature Christian be pro-gay marriage?

There are a number of individuals within the Church that categorize themselves as evangelicals who are promoting gay marriage.

Many of them are younger Christians, and they tend to be gay or bisexual themselves. However, some churches, as we know, support gay marriage and even gay leadership within the church.

My position is that this is one of the issues which sort out true Christians and organizations that God is working through from those that are not true Christians and organizations that he is not working through. It is going to become plainer and plainer which people and organizations belong to Him and which people and organizations are in rebellion against Him, despite their claims.
I am opposed to gay marriage as are a large majority of people Christian and none christian alike. having said that I disagree with your statement that it it an issue that ''sorts out'' which Christians and organisations God is working through.
none of us have the right to judge others in that way. People can be wrong in their thinking and still be christian. It is up to God to direct them. There are many who are not living as God would like them to be. Because the sin in their lives is not obvious to others does not mean they are perfect.

Well, you are missing God as he is in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Yes, he is love. But he is also just and full of righteous wrath. Explain Revelation for me, you see God's love for those who are saved but his justice for those who sadly never called upon him and were judged and thrown into the lake of fire. My walk everyday is transformed, I just don't understand is what is your beef with what the Bible says about these characteristics of God. No one is denying that God is love. God bless. :)
My beef is not about the real characteristics of God....

My beef is with you and the woman you are defending, who outright stated "saying GOD is LOVE all the time is a false teaching"

What you 2 cannot get past is the fact while God is Just and full of righteous wrath, he STILL IS LOVE, even though he judges with righteous wrath....until that revelation goes past your ears and into your heart you will continue to believe silly communicated distorted Bible knowledge like, your own righteous wrath of SIN keeps you from Sinning. This is works based conditional salvation and taught no where in the Bible.

The fact is that it is grace that instructs us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age...not your own anger towards your own sin.

You both seem to think in human terms on this topic. You seem to think that God cannot love a person straight to the lake of fire, you seem to be trying to push a theology that suggests GOD is ONLY LOVE when he is not full of righteous wrath towards sin. Then he turns back on his love...

This is were we split ways. You say its not possible for God to be love and wrath. what is pathetic is neither of you will ever come out simply say this, but it is what you believe.

I say that while God hates sin and things are an abomination to him, and he will one day pour out his wrath on those who rejected his Son, Jesus Christ, and then he will judge those with righteous anger, he does so while loving them and with a broken heart because he does not delight in the death of the wicked and wants everyone to repent and live.

Your entire defense and her statement, completely invalidate and frustrate why and who Jesus went to the Cross and for.

The God of the Old Testament sent his SON who ushered in a New Testament based solely on Grace.

Are you also helping your pastor to stop the fornication, gluttony, gossip, strife, divisions, control and religious attitudes that Christians commit in churches, or are you just fixated on making sure the sinner knows where they are headed, without cluing them onto the whole Gospel, that when they come to Jesus they are a new creation are no longer a sinner and got their choice regarding sin back?

Anyone that consider themselves a Christian, and supports a politician, through voting or finances, who is—among other godless things, in favor of abortion, gay rights, or same sex marriage, will some day be judged for doing that. I pause here to stress a very important subject. As Christians, we should constantly perform a self-test to evaluate our relationship with Christ. I know of no better subject, except perhaps abortion, to determine if we have the spirit of Christ living in us than our attitude toward homosexuality. Homosexuality is an abomination to God, and as Christians, we cannot view it otherwise. As Christians, we should never accept that which God does not accept. Furthermore, as God has compassion for all sinners, which includes all of us, we should do the same. Where would any of us be without compassion from a loving God? We will all be judged, and rendering judgment on others, is not for us to do. All people are God’s creation, but we are not all God's children; if we were, Satan would be childless. Nevertheless, none of us will escape reaping what we sow. I do not understand the homosexual lifestyle, but it was not created this century. It brought destruction to Sodom and Gomorrah thousands of years ago and America is approaching the precipice of of the same judgement. The following verses expose the first case of wheeling and dealing in the Bible.Abraham is attempting to persuade God not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah:

And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

Genesis 18:23-33

That is a wonderful passage. Abraham is trying to bargain with God. Abraham was careful not to overstep his bounds, but, at the same time, he was nudging God a little. Of course, from the onset, God knew Abraham would not find ten righteous people. Sodom and Gomorrah brought God’s wrath upon themselves, and after God sent Angels to rescue Lot, Abraham’s nephew and his family, he erased Sodom and Gomorrah from the face of the Earth. God will not tolerate wickedness. Sodom and Gomorra did not get away with it, and, neither will America. God knows the future of America and we can attempt to bargan our way out of His judgement, but it will not change His mind.

Christian principles are meaningless unless they are defended and uncompromised. We cannot justify abandoning our Christian principles to support the lesser of two evils among politicians. God is going to decide who rules America; he also is going to decide our fate based on our adherence to his word. Republican politicians fail to realize that without the support of true Christians, they will not regain power. Moreover, they should not get support from true Christians unless they share their Christian principles. I will leave you with a serious matter to ponder: Do not jeopardize your relationship with God by becoming overly involved in worldly things and ignoring his word.

Yes there is a reason the bible uses the word "Abomination" to describe men lusting after men and women after women......

Proverbs 6.16-19
There are six things which the Lord hates,
Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
[SUP]18 [/SUP]A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that run rapidly to evil,
[SUP]19 [/SUP]A false witness who utters lies,
And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Yes homosexuality is a an abomination to God, so are the 7 above...

So which is the church more full of today, Homosexuals or the above 7 things?

When Christians narrow the sin focus and begin stack ranking certain SINS over others, it is usually to keep from having to give up their own secret SIN.

The 7 abominations above run rampant in today churches, yet I see no one addressing this and always beating up the sinner engaged in homosexuality.

I think that when Kaylagirl said that saying God is love all the time is false teaching is because in her experience she was seeing an over-focusing on that aspect of God's character to the rest of who he is. Instead of rebuking her, you should ask her why she believes that. I never denied that while God has righteous wrath he is also love and I don't think Kaylagirl is denying that. I never said that my righteous wrath of sin keeps me from sinning. Though God has given me a holy anger to hate sin both in myself and others but not them anymore. Sadly, I still sin. I see no works-based salvation in what she posted, I have read a lot of her posts through the years. God bless. :)

You are absolutely correct to point out other abominations, however, the proposed question is: can A CHRISTIAN BE PRO-GAY MARRIAGE? I do not believe i was beating up on anyone. My intention is to point out the responsibility of Christians to avoid becoming too involved in worldly things. As i stated, it is not our responsibility to judge anyone, only God has the right. However, we can, and should judge ourselves and do so in forceful manner. You listed seven things God hates, but homosexuality is not among the seven. God has the right to hate whatever he pleases, but we certainly do not. In the eyes of God, sin is sin and not to be individually judged. The word abomination means "one that is a source of utter disgust or dislike."
If you have sympathy for Homosexuals, i join with you in that sentiment even though it does noting to diminish God's judgement against homosexuals. It is not sympathy sinners need it is redemption; and that goes for all of us.

I appreciate very much you taking time to respond to my opinions.

You cannot support Gay Marriage or Abortions, or smoking weed, Cigarettes, drinking etc etc.

The Word of God tells all of us, Our Temple ( Our Bodys) are made by God. Then Tbe Bible further states, anyone who destroys The Temple of God; God will.also destroy that person also

So you exercise daily? Mostly eat home grown vegetables? A little meat. Never eat at restaurants. Make all your own food. No frozen. No microwaving. There's more I could ask, of course.
Many people who talk like this often have areas of their life where they are guilty but make excuses for it. Doesn't stop them from trying to force it on other though.

Also so show me where God forbids drinking. Not drunkeness, but all alcohol.

First off, "Destroying Your Body" by design as cigarettes, Illicit drugs, or anything you are willing to get High on or a "Buzz" is not the same thing as eating unknown infredients in Meat or foods which could harm your body eventually...like comparing Apples and oranges and a rather weak argument..

Next; you asked where in The Bible does it forbid ingesting Alcohol...here is one of several verses...Proverbs 1 verse 20: "WINE IS A MOCKER; STRONG DRINK IS RAGING; AND WHO SOEVER IS DECEIVED THERBY IS NOT WISE".

No doubt you'll say "Jesus Drank Wine and Tge Last Supper.....And Jesus made Wine at The Feast of Cana...

Two kinds of wine..Fermented Grapes (Alchohol) Unformented Grapes ( Grape Juice).

So Jesus Drank unfermented grape juice at tbe Last Supper...and Made Unfermented Grape Juice at the wedding...end of Story..

She was killed by The Fire and Brimstone that fell from heaven, and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah
