Trump is often called "dishonest". Why? Well, all I have found is that he buys things inexpensively, and sells them (usually after extensive investments of his money that results in improvement to the property) for a substantial profit.
Is this dishonest? Yes, or No, and why?
Some will say he has no right to make that much money. No legitimate reason for this feeling.... they just think he shouldn't be allowed to.
Others will say that he sometimes gets his taxes way down by negotiating with City officials, and that is dishonest. Is it?
Don't you sit down with the Auto salesman, and negotiate a lower and better deal for yourself? What about contract work on your house. Do you not shop for the best deal? And don't you hold them to the terms of your contract? Or do you say, "Yeah, you agreed to put two coats of paint on my house, but even though you tried to get away with applying only one, I'm going to pay you anyway."
Or, you offer something online for sale. A man comes to look at it. He thinks it is the greatest thing he has ever seen. But you never liked it, and are glad to get rid of it. Do you, then. set out to tell him how lousy you think the item is, and refuse to take your original asking price?
I have heard of people who will buy an item at a thrift store for maybe as little as .75 cents. They then put it on E-Bay...... where they see the same item is fetching $10 to $20 for other sellers. So they price theirs at $15. And it soon sells.
That is a 2,000% profit for, basically, doing nothing but putting the item online. Perfectly legal and fair. But if Trump makes even 500% profit on a deal (after usually putting in a lot of his own money to improve the property), the same person will call him dishonest.
Well, he sometimes gives an inflated presentation, and lets other people believe it, some people will cry. UH, that's called smart business. Madison Avenue was founded upon, and operates deep within that very basic principle...... and America LOVES to be sold thousands of products that way through TV ads of sexy women or "cool" men selling totally unrelated and irrelevant items.
So, are you as honest as Donald Trump........ or would you see yourself more like Hillary?
