I have known the tern Creep or Creeps for years. This is the first time i have heard creepies or creepers..

I also use the term perverts or pervs too..
I do remember hearing the term "creep" but it basically meant "jerk" if I recall it right.

The sad reality these days is that you have to come in expecting that you will probably encounter the worst and guard yourself appropriately and then over time work up from there. On a platform like CC this may mean coming in not trusting anyone and viewing all interaction with a healthy dose of suspicion and then working up from there.

I was on another Christian forum and had this same experience. It turns out this guy had the exact same conversation about struggles and porn with all the girls he messaged. Maybe this guy has multiple accounts on different forums. The sad thing is that he is still an active member and very well liked by most on the forum. Nothing was really ever done about his questionable behavior. The few of us who did try to speak up and expose his bad behavior were the ones that ended up being viewed as controversial. In the end, it wasn't worth it to say anything because he is still active, well liked and those of us who did speak up found ourselves at odds with the rest.
Sad development

Man I am starting to feel really left out here. All I get in chat are foreign girls who are (ostensibly) looking for a boyfriend, but are really looking for a green card.

*Lynx slumps on the couch and sulks while everybody else has all the creeper fun.

For a while, yes.

Now because I'm so busy, I haven't had as many anymore because I'm not as involved as I once was :)
Plus they get confused with your name.

Uh is that shiney our light

or

shine your light

Then they think Oh,dear I don't need a complicated relationship.

They probably relate to "star" ,"staple gun" or,"hack saw"

I remember that person! Or bot, rather. She said I could ask her anything. But I didn't ask cause at the time I had nothing to ask.

There was this one guy, however. After the his and hellos, he asked me if I was struggling about stuff... and I said everyone does. He then started telling me about his struggles with porn and that's when I made my exit. I told him he shouldn't be telling me those things and told him to talk to a guy mod. I didn't stay long enough to find out if he sincerely needed help or if he was preying on girls in chat. And the thing is. He STILL is active in chat. I kinda almost forgotten about that incident. I should've reported it? But I was very emotionally unstable when that happened and I haven't been to chat since
Actually that's pretty common on here. Men PMing random women to share their sexual struggles of addictions.

I used to get that frequently too. Always Filipino women. Nothing like telling them you're broke to send them running.

I had a female friend on here, a few years ago. She was a married woman that had become friendly with another woman. His woman would frequently share her marriage troubles with my friend. But as time went on her comments got more and more questionable till she seemed to be hinting at having a sexual attraction to my friend. And hinted at a threesome with her. My friend cut ties with the woman after that, and the woman was banned shortly after.

True story. A lot of the PMs I would get in chat back in the day were Pakistani/Nigerian/Indian.

If people realized that your private messages can be read by the higher ups i am sure less talk would happen. This is a discussion forum. "Creeps" will appear. Best thing to do is when you are encountered by someone who makes you uncomfortable report it immediately.

Literally 5 minutes ago a newer CCer sent me a text asking about such things and what I knew about it. Are you a mind reader? /eyeballs you suspiciously

It may deter some, but I think most would still not be affected. A good portion of them try to quickly usher women off of CC to have conversations, suggesting they know not to say anything obvious or incriminating on the site and try to wiggle around it.

In my experience with female friends on this site, it's nearly impossible to get women to report even blatantly wrong behavior. Most feel guilty reporting people. Some think it's not worth the time, or they'll let someone else deal with it.

Part of that can extend from not caring ("let someone else deal with it"), feeling guilty, etc., but it can also stem from being told to simply put the offender on ignore, rather than the problem actually being dealt with.

Nothing puts a damper on trying to get help in an instance of harassment than being told, "It doesn't matter, just deal with it."

Elizabeth, can't the higher ups also tell when multiple accounts are coming from one IP address & their ISP? Because I often wonder how so many people get away with doing that. Or how trolls using the same IP address can keep coming back with a new ID.

They can. And at times they ban the IP (banning an ISP would stop potentially millions of users). But there are ways to have changing IP addresses and since the IP address changed they can't prevent the user from joining again.
Multiple accounts can be traced but they first have to have a basis for investing the potential problem. And sometimes they let things play out during investigations and case building.

I've never heard of anyone being told 'just deal with it' on this site.
Ignore is encouraged as an immediate solution, but that does not mean they won't deal with the person. Or in some cases a person may not be obvious enough in any one circumstance so they wait till they get multiple reports as it creates a stronger case for them being banned. Or there may be more to the situation than you are aware of.
Doing nothing still leaves a responsibility to the person with the complaint.
