Why do you guys like to fight over the bible so much and call people names like liar? Show me in the bible where Jesus said go and keep on sinning. It's ok now? Chapter and verse?

ok is it a sin not to do good works ?
if you take that question all the way to its end...it is a sin for you not to give away everything you own. To completely sacrifice yourself for another. Thats what Jesus did. Can you do that? Can you give up your life? Walk away from your mother your brother and your sister? The reality is that Jesus did it so you wouldn't have too....not that you could anyway. You get to live out your life, find joy, find a mate, have children, play games and laugh and make memories with those you love. To compare yourself to Jesus is the ultimate irony.

There is one gospel and that the gospel of Jesus.

This is what I don't quite get. And it's not directed to you per se but is a general attitude to other things as well.

You mention two Gospels of which both cannot be right and only the correct one will get people into heaven.

This post is about denying sin, and responses have been quite heated and to be honest at times disrespectul and unloving in responses. Are future sins forgiven if you believe they are then that's not the gospel, if you believe they are not then that's not the gospel.

So whichever one you believe in if it's wrong you won't be in heaven and neither will those who follow your wrong gospel.

To me when we do that then we are judging whether a person is saved or not.
Thats not up us it's up to God. He is the ultimate judge.

We could take it beyond this post, does baptism save or not, should I eat this or not, do I observe the sabbath, should I tithe and so on. Yes or no to all of these can be differnt Gospels.

The truth is that all off us could use bible verses to support where we stand. If we have studied the scripture correctly as we see it we can still disagree. My textual criticism may be different from yours (not you EG specifically but for everyone)

As genuine believers who interact with each other we all have one purpose.

1 Corinthians 3:11
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

and the truth is the following (well to me anyway)

1 Corinthians 3:12-15
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

We will all stand before God one day, he will judge every word we have said or not said, every action taken and not taken.
Has everything we have said and done been with love, have we loved our brothers, been like Jesus and encouraging others to seek Jesus. Coming alongside the lost and just loving then with the pure unadulterated love that Jesus had when he died on the cross.

Just my simple thoughts.
Here is the difference my friend

You said the post is about denying sin.

Yes, We both would teach that we should deny sin, and learn to live a life of Christ.

The heat begins when one group say WE DO NOT DENY SIN, or think it is necessary (which is not true) and they say if you do not deny sin you wil not be saved.

They are arguing we love sin,, Yet they deny sin, which in reality, means they refuse to deny sin themselves.

The argument is against the works based self righteous gospel of saving yourself. vs the gospel of grace..

Again, I direct you to peters thread on is the cross enough.. You will see what the issue is..

This is a really great post. One question I have is: did Jesus consider the pharisees his "brothers"? Was he heated with them when he spoke to them? Did he use embarrassing adjectives to describe them?

The thing is, I don't consider someone who is saying that their good works will save them and telling others they must be sinless my "brother". I consider them to be just like the pharisees in Jesus day....and I will use whatever means at my disposal to expose them.
ah so what your saying is God exposed the pharisee but did he do it to make them repent and be saved or did he do it because he loved them like brothers ? just some clarity thanks...

I think he did it because he was on a mission to die for your sorry arse. But that is my opinion.

i guess thats my clarity for mockery then...
What...you think if he was nice to them and massaged their egos they would have demanded he be nailed on a cross? Lol

He schooled them about their religious hateful hearts and it made them angry.

can a person who is saved not do good works?
***By good works do you mean being fruitful (John 15) ---if we are attached to the Vine we will produce fruit---if we are unfruitful it is because we cease to abide in the Vine and we could be cast away as a dead branch---some will debate that if they are unfruitful it is because they were never saved----some would debate that you can't be detached from the Vine once you are saved----I always hope for the best, but prepare for the worst-----I never tell people that they cannot lose their salvation---I think only two people know if that is true-- You and Christ---with all the warnings in the Bible----having your name blotted out----better if you had not been born than to turn from the way of righteousness, ect. I always tell people to be faithful---if they sin---repent---and keep going...

Jesus wasnt afraid of that,, he was more afraid for there souls..

He might have it no question there,,, but dont you think his intension was to save not even thinking i must offend them to get nailed to the cross..

Mate are you on meds ?
