Amen and I have described this truth in the following manner....there are some things I am rock solid on and will never compromise....and then there are areas where I am weak that I fail in regularly.........it seems we all have a thorn or two in the flesh which keep us humbled so as not to exalt ourselves above measure.........
Even on top of that. Jesus gave up his dreams and his life to fulfill his purpose. Maybe the man in him wanted to make custom ornate furniture and live out his days in peace. No one really knows, but anything short of giving up your life falls short of the standard He set. The reality is that Jesus came so that we could have an abundant life and didn't have to do that. We get to have our dreams and goals and loves and desires. His grace allows for our lives to have joy too.

is it to blasé to say "My flesh is my thorn?
HAH makes sense hey............like one inspired said...there is no good thing in the flesh hey.....

New American Standard Bible
For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

King James Bible
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

I taught today that true, biblical Christianity can be summed up in putting everyone else first and ourselves last...I also said we all fail in some form or fashion because it is usually about ourselves.....

I think the problem is that people want to frame our relationships in black and white terms....when the reality is that there is room in God's grace to be smart about stuff. If someone keeps borrowing money from you and not paying you back a smart person quits loaning them money. Lol. People sometimes mistake generosity as sacrifice. The point is that things aren't as black and white all the time as people want to make them. This is why God gave us a brain. So we could determine for example the best way to love someone is to sometimes let them fail... and sometimes to pick them up and put them on their feet. And sometimes somewhere in between. I think this is how God disciplines us, helps us and loves us.

Mark 12:31
And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Matthew 5:43-48
Love Your Enemies
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Galatians 5:14-15
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

I wonder how many people who have posted on this post consider the other an enemy, and therefore devour one another?

The word Jesus used for love was Agapao which means of a person, to welcome, to entertain, to be fond of, to love dearly.

Amen to that.

I dont know about you but when I don't put others first and I realise that, I put my hand up. Say sorry to God and ask him to make me more like him.

Amen to that.....Anton Levey said true Satanism was the worship of self.....and that seems to sum up both Satanism and Christianity in two lines of thought...

Christianity-->Put God and then everyone else first and serve by love
Satanism-->Worship and serve self over all else

This is where you lose me, with the lack of flexibility. You assume that it's only one of two states. I suggest that the only fruitful work going on is us being works in progress to relinquish the truth that it is finished and you will not and cannot improve the perfect plan of salvation. Until you do, your stuck in delusion.
Oh so the words of Jesus is a delusion ? which is those who keep the faith to the end will be saved.. not hardly...

You will not recieve your final reward until the end... period.............. this is not a delusion,,,,, this is truth... its you who are deluded.

You should lay off the weed ;) ....salvation is a gift-->the rebirth of the SPIRIT.....and I asked you three times yesterday to answer a simple question that you swept under the rug in favor your own blindness.....the truth--->you answer correctly and honestly would in fact prove you in error...one more time...answer the following....not difficult to do...

Still waiting for you to honestly answer the question below...one you skipped right over....simple answer...you have three choices to choose from

Not quite.....you still fall short in the knowledge area....SO...simple question...see if you can answer it with two words without tap dancing all over the place....what tense is the bolded below?

The bible speaks of salvation in all three tenses....so....reject the truth......deny all you want....the verbiage of the bible overrides your opinion!

He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according

give us today our daily bread, lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Rom 12:3

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
phil 2:3-4

The danger is labelling everything that is for the benefit of oneself as evil is
blatently false. We need to eat, cloth, shelter, educate, earn a living, be a contributer
to our society, but these could all be called selfish goals or needs and so evil.

It is therefore miss-leading to use this over generalised language which causes more
condemnation and confusion rather than real help.

You obviously missed the point and would argue with a fencepost given the chance.....no offence Peter, but nothing you say carries any weight nor value with me.........

dc - I am sorry you feel the way you do.

"nothing you say carries any weight nor value with me"

So the word of the Lord cannot be brought by me. Are you the one to disown
anything I share, or say?

I do wonder about the stone wall approach. Jesus always talked with people,
and showed them the way to God.

Rather than properly engage you rather just refuse to respond. It is like non
engagement has benefits except it only describes defeat and emptiness.

I have met many different people before, but this is the worst strategy ever.

Let us get real. How do you know what satanism is or is not?
I know zero about this, because as far as I know it is not even a religion.

And sin is founded on over indulgence of the senses, and stopping any boundaries
of gratification. So you have the 7 deadly sins,
pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth

Pride - we need to honour our gifting, but not beyond its true measure
greed - we need to be content with Gods provision and use it to His glory
lust - we need to desire that which is appropriate and no more
envy - we need to rejoice with others in their success and realise the blessing
gluttony - we need to appreciate the food we have to sustain life no more
wrath - we need to know our rights and our mercy and forgiveness before the Lord
sloth - we need to work to bring good things about and not be shy of this work

So the problem with sin its extent not its focus.

The problem with pharisee hunters is they are not hunting to save people but condemn them.

My point stands....

You obviously missed the point and would argue with a fencepost given the chance.....

Biblical Christianity is to place God first, everyone else second and yourself last...you argued this and belittled my comment as you always do...I, as well as many others are sick of your inability to acknowledge the truth at the hand of anyone else but yourself....if you say something biblical and true I will be more than glad to acknowledge it and identify it as such.....until then...if all you can do is argue against the truth that is posted by a handful of men and women who post in the BDF then my second point stands.......like it or not......

You know what we can't comprehend? His Cross is His public display to mankind. The cross and His 33 years on this earth was His display to mankind of the love he has for mankind and the justice required for our sins.

But......He will remain a human for all eternity. The infinite God of all, over everything all the time.........became a human and will remain a human for ALL eternity. That is like us becoming a slug, that we created and we loved slugs so much we became a slug and died for them and will remain a slug for them for ALL time.

The price he paid for us is eternal. And I believe it will blow our glorified minds when we begin to grasp this in eternity.

God is love, the most self affirming reality of life, acceptance and desire to bring
life. The need for people to forgive themselves, to allow for failure and who they
are without being self judgmental is an important first step. Accepting God loves
you where you are, nothing is rejected, matters. God is not a fault finder, He
desires to show the way to life through the jungle of sin and despair.

Sin is the symtom of a lack of communion with God and walking in love.
The answer is to dwell with the Most High, to let His word be the meditation in
our hearts, night and day. In Christ and the cross we have our beginning, our
middle and our end.

He emptied himself of glory and then willing went to the cross....imagine....the Eternal Son who had known the Heavenly Father for all eternity crying out.....MY GOD, MY GOD why has thou forsaken me..........He who knew NO sin became SIN for us.......by HIS stripes are we healed and the Heavenly Father was pleased to seem him bruised for us.......what lowlifes we ALL ARE!
