The bible tells us that the flesh and the spirit are always at war, there is no such thing as reconciliation in this life. The flesh will never concede defeat, we put to death the DEEDS of the flesh by following the spirit, we never put to death the flesh and the battle will only end when out body dies.
True that, the Spirit and the flesh are contrary to each other, and war for control of the person, and the flesh will never change, and can never change, and Paul said,in the flesh dwells no good thing, and it is always like that until we put off this stinking, good for nothing, flesh,so Paul said that he serves the Lord with his mind, and only by the Spirit can we beat the flesh, for a Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, and will crucify the flesh with the affections, and lusts.

But with that being said,I have to say this which may surprise some people at first, but then it will not.

I am thankful for being in the flesh even though it is sinful, for it is because of the flesh that we can be saved, and get chance after chance to be right with God because of our shortcomings.

Angels cannot be redeemed because they are a being that is one in essence, with no separate components as people.

When Lucifer rebelled to do his own thing, and caused some angels to follow him, they tainted their whole being,so they cannot be redeemed for there is no way for them to put off the sin from them.

So while the flesh can condemn us,in a way it also saves us,for we can always repent of what we did wrong, and receive the truth, and do right,a privilege the fallen angels do not have.

But people get chance after chance, because of the flesh, for all sin resides in the flesh, and they can put off the flesh, thus getting rid of the sin,and their soul is saved.

As long as we are in the flesh we have a fighting chance to be saved, for we can mess up,and mess up,and still clear the situation up and be right with God.

The angels cannot for when they sinned there is no way to put the sin off them, for they are one being with no separate components as people that can out off the flesh where the sin resides, and their soul can be saved.

Not understanding the new creation in Christ is why man has come up with this lose your salvation doctrine.

When we don't understand what Christ has actually done on the cross and resurrection and that we too were crucified with Him and raised from the dead with Him and that we are one with Him for eternity - the things of the true spiritual nature of the believer becomes a blurr.

Then we exchange the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ for a behavior modification program to try to pretty up the flesh. Only by walking by the spirit can we not fulfill the lusts of the flesh to do "it's" desires.

I encourage all believers to ask the Lord about this truth. He will be faithful to you. Ask Him - "What does it mean that I am a new creation in Christ? 2 Cor. 5:17 What does it mean that I have been created in righteousness and holiness? Eph. 4:20

What does it mean that you Lord are one spirit with me? 1 Cor. 6:17

Your life will change because the Holy Spirit loves to reveal the things of God and of the Lord's work on the cross and resurrection. He is called the Spirit of grace and He rushes in pure delight to reveal Christ to us.

amen we walk in victory over the flesh, "we crucify the flesh" by following the spirit its the only possibility, is us following the spirit

john 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

john 8:31 -32 "
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

romans 6:16 -18 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

1 tmothy 6:3 -4 "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4He is proud, knowing nothing...."

2 john 1:9 "
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

john 8:47 "
He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.John 7:16-17 "Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

deuteronomy 18:18 "I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him

John 12:48-50 "
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. 49For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.john 4:24-26 "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.26Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

john 8:24 "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

I think a major point here is this scripture does not guarantee we will remain in Christ, but if we do, during that time there's no condemnation.
Stephen

The word in "en" states in the definition that it's a fixed position.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

My understanding of the flesh / spirit being contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye wold is that if/when we are walking after the flesh, we cannot be walking spiritually (in light of the Spirit).

On the other hand, if/when we are walking after the Spirit, we cannot be walking in the flesh.

That is why it is so important that we periodically stop and consider what is the fruit in our life at any given time.

If fruit of the Spirit - hey! keep on keeping on.

If works of the flesh - hey! turn your heart back to the Lord Jesus Christ and get back to walking spiritually.

As we abide in the Vine (our Lord Jesus Christ), the Husbandman (Father) works on us as branches, and cleanses us.

John 15:2 every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

The word "purgeth" is the Greek word kathairō which means to cleanse of filth, impurity, make clean by purging (removing undesirable elements).

This is something Father does within each believer, beginning at the moment we are born again and continuing throughout our whole life. Father removes those things from our lives that hinder our growth, and He purifies us.

I believe it is much easier to take a self inventory at any moment of any day and check to see if we have fruit of the spirit evidenced in our life rather than continuously have our minds focused on sin. Any time we leave the abode of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we are living in an abode which Father has described as "sinful". Not a good place to live (imho).

If we lose sight of who we are as a child of God in order to pursue the things of the world belief system and what their trust is in - we can't expect to inherit the blessings of God's promises to us while we are on this earth.
... and that person would go to hell if they leave earth in that condition cause they turned away from the Lord.

That ain't living in faith and anything that is not of faith is sin.

We are saved by grace THRU faith... no faith, no grace.

God has made His salvation available, but people do have the right / ability to turn away and many do.

Besides, Jesus tells some in the end that are doing this to depart cause they are workers of iniquity.

I know, I know... the false OSAS garbage will come after I post this but that doesn't count cause it's not biblical and is a man-made doctrine.

Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
That's funny... that's the same thing the false grace TV preachers say!

They be speaking in behalf of the devil, that old serpent.

Looks like there's nothing new under the sun.

Nonsense Jason - you just don't like what is being preached about the saving grace and love of God and your church teachings are making you blind to what the gospel of the grace of God in Christ has really done for us. I encourage you to ask the Lord about it. He will be faithful to you.
no i dont like false teachings at all , you have that one correct. I used to think you were just unaware, but i notice you constantly pluck only what supports the gog, which theres a difference in incomplete doctrine, and false doctrine.

the grace of God didnt come like that, it came in the gospel of the Kingdom of God, through Jesus Christ. it doesnt change from Jesus to paul, pauls merely a servant preaching the gospel of Gods Kingdom like the other 11.

its definately not nonsense lol let me ask you a very simple question why do you avoid all of the true context?

for instance you will say like you did in the comment i was speaking to

" Jesus said hell be with us forever, hes not a liar" then wuote john 14:16, yet you omit verse 15 and 17? its really evident actually rather than nonsense.

john 14:15-17 "If ye love me, keep my commandments.16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

i already understand why you do this i think, im wondering though, why do you have to only quote 1 of the three, and certainly never speak if the context in verses 20-26

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.25These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Im wondering since its just "nonsense" why you instead say " jesus said the holy spirit will be with us forever he doesnt lie, yet very clearly a 12 year old can see that keeping His words, Keeping His commandments is a condition set BY JESUS not a "man made works false religion" that you so often explain when you go into the finished works speech

im really wanting to hear why you do that, why its necassary to only believe certain unconditional seeming verses?

isnt that when a person needs the special "grace goggles" that teach us Jesus was teaching the law 2.0 instead of the gospel? and we need to just ignore anything like the context He gave and just focus on inconditional grace as isnt taught in scripture with actual context?

ive tried to understand you often, and its always a big circle it seems like to me, help me understand why you do that.

Exactly, when they start claiming this... you know they have been indoctrinated by false grace teachers who do not understand God's Word because they are part of that group "Cherry Pickers R Us"

The consequences of sinning is very simple;

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom 6:23)

If we are knowingly sinning then we are not following Jesus and do not know God

"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." (1John 2:3-4).

We should be so happy that God has given us His gift of Jesus to save us from our sins

"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1John 2:1)

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1John 1:9)

Blessed be the Word of God forever and ever Amen! May God bless you all in His love

I think a major point here is this scripture does not guarantee we will remain in Christ, but if we do, during that time there's no condemnation.
This is why we should check the entire chapter. For it speaks of our freedom from bondage, adoption/sonship, and confirmation also of God's everlasting love for us, that NOTHING can separate us from His love.

Romans 8:15-17: "For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him (confirmation), that we may also be glorified together (confirmation also)" - because as children we will suffer but we will also be glorified. Confirmation of both happening to a child of God.

V11: "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you"

V28-30: Confirmation of future completion (glorification)

Only drawing attention to these, so I don't take over Bruce's thread.

- not that you are going to hell because you are sinning. Or that because they were sinning - that they are not born of God.
[h=1]1 John 3:9New King James Version (NKJV)[/h] [SUP]9 [/SUP]Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

Scripture confounds almost all statements made by this guy.

The Flesh is not at war with the spirit unless you want to be at war with your spirit. This is why renewing our minds to the word of God is so important.
More people who haven't read the bible:

Galatians 5
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

Romans 8
[SUP]6 [/SUP]For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. [SUP]8 [/SUP]So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

DCON, It's not me you take issue with, if you were to be honest with yourself. You are aggrieved by the scriptures.

Instead of understanding the word in its richness, you have failed to move on to maturity and understanding. Even the milk that you are on is going sour.

It reminds me of "Saving Private Ryan" - the first beach scene. You have landed on the beach, but now that you "think" you have landed, you take pot shots from the beach instead of taking the hill.

Your invasion is not a success. Your landing has achieved nothing. For unless you take out the enemy shooting from the top of the hill you are just cannon fodder.

I see a good thread and then the SINLESS one pushing his SINLESS rhetoric.....so, Chris....do you keep the law 100% of the time 24/7/365 days a year...YES or NO, Do you 100% of the time DO everything that the scriptures require to maintain a SINLESS state...YES or NO.....??

if you continue in your faith
col 1:23

Paul is telling the colossians how pleased he is hearing the good news of their faith.
He tells of how we are reconciled in Christ, holy, blameless above reproach, but this
only has value if you continue in your faith.

I do not know why people want to push becoming an unbeliever, falling away, losing
ones faith is impossible when Paul experienced many doing exactly this, as we do today.

It is simply not true this is an invented theology of man, this is Gods holy word speaking
to us, stay in the faith and you will be saved. It is this simple.

Not understanding the new creation in Christ is why man has come up with this lose your salvation doctrine.
Not understanding Gods message and listening carefully to His instructions and teaching
mean men ignore Christs words, change His message and end up with gnostic easy believism.

And there escape about losing faith, is all the cases of losing faith or the parables they never
had faith in the first place. Now this is odd because Hebrews clearly states those who have
tasted of God, the Holy Spirit

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age
Heb 6:4-5

What have these people got
1. The heavenly gift
2. The Holy Spirit
3. Understood the word of God
4. Powers of the coming age

These people fall away or "who have fallen away"

The writer of hebrews wants it very clear, these guys knew everything and fell away.
If you tried no one could make it clearer, unless you want above all else to believe this
is impossible, and then you will change whatever is written.

and if you pluck verses out of context, leave out parts of verses when you quote them, change the meaning to suit you, then you come up with a load of garbage. which is what you do every day.
