Let me ask you this. Something I usually do not do, but just for discussion's sake...

Man no. 1 follows the commandments because he loves God.

Man no. 2 follows the commandments because he fears God.

They both know God.
They both know Jesus.
They both do their best.

WHO IS SAVED?
neither.....

Fear and obedience are not required for salvation....belief and verbal confession are [Rom 10.9-10]

You can not claim victory in Christ, yet teach that a person has to earn salvation by works,

if you teach victory in Christ, you have true faith God will save you completely and chage you from the inside out and make you a holy person who is sanctified in him

which means you are saved forever. Because God will change you

to say anything else is to profess faith in self, and you ability to become holy, and not in God to make you holy

its amazing how many people proclaim faith in Christ, that in really only have faith in self
Did I just read Matt say that Jesus blood couldn't wash away certain sins?

God said do not err for if you hold unto sin,and do not get rid of it,you are not saved, for the blood of Christ cannot wash it away, and it will be on their record.]
This sounds a whole lot like you have to bath and save yourself because Jesus blood isn't able to do it for you...which is false.

God says to die to self. That is different than telling people they have to wash themselves clean.

Dying takes no effort on our part...it's admitting we are already dead and cut away the flesh to reveal the born again person God has made us to be.

Our past actions don't define us. Our sins don't tell us who we are. God does and we learn to overcome and walk away from the things of,this world towards His ways and His purpose for our lives.

If we stand still paralysed because someone tells us that we have to be sinless before we can be saved...we lose focus on God and focus on self effort and what we lack.

.instead we should focus on Christ and what He has already done and what He calls us to do. If we lack anything let us have faith God will provide and focus on walking with Him in love and humility.

Excuse me Meggido.

If you follow the two Great Commandments.

Are you not following ALL of the 10 commandments AND MORE?

YOU know what I know and what I don't know?
When did you give me the test?

The way you asked about Jesus' Law shows me that YOU don't understand very well what you are being obedient to and what the difference is between the Mosaic Covenant and the New Covenant.

I'm not here to teach anyone anything.
This could be looked up. Professor Google knows everything.

Romans 13.8-10

[SUP]8 [/SUP]Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For this, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” [SUP]10 [/SUP]Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

This sums up my belief.....

Faith in Jesus finished work on the cross for the remission of sins, His resurrection and ascension. Being sealed with the Holy spirit.

Demons knew of Jesus and even called Him Son of God...f0llowing God's commandments doesn't mean folks have a saving faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior..(even heathens follow God's commandments and expects a just God to reward and punish people for keeping of His laws.)

PLEASE SHOW ME WHERE JESUS SAID THIS.

I usually quote Jesus. It seems to me HE KNEW BEST.

Post scripture.
I've posted A LOT of scripture of Jesus saying that we are to follow HIS COMMANDMENTS.

Please do the same.
Thanks.

P.S. You might want to look up Romans 12:1
Romans 13:8-14
Romans 15.4
Romans 15:30-31
Romans 16:2-3
Romans 16:17-19
Romans 16:25-26 OBEDIENCE OF FAITH (in case you never noticed it)

You see, you must read ALL of Romans, not just the verses YOU like.

The life of the law of the Spirit of life manifests by our walking with God.

Enoch is our example. God was pleased with him...God took him.

No laws of control of behavior is needed. Law is to control sinful flesh. Spirit is our new nature.

We are what we eat...so we eat of the life of Jesus.

It's far simpler than the church fathers words.

Jesus commandments were summed up in one and you are too blind to see it[John 9]

You also seem to miss that Romans 10 was written to the ones who were still obeying commands to gain salvation after Jesus had completed his work. So in this case, quoting Romans 10.9-10 is the correct passage.

Sounds like two to me, but as long as YOU are happy...
I just hope you don't understand all of scripture like you understand the two great commandments.
(No wonder you don't really understand scripture well)

Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a]

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Did you say it was only ONE commandment?
You should read the N.T. again. I really mean it.

It's unfortunate for some here that the Church fathers do not agree wth you.

You can read all the books you want Fran...and stuff your head with all kinds of knowledge of the past.

But, life in the Spirit of God...walking with Him...needs no written "laws". You will out of your new nature act like Him

But, it takes time. People fall because mostly of wrong teachings...another reason..the flesh tempts one.

Eventually, the Lord will have His way. Because He is Lord.

Jesus requires more.

I don't believe you're living up to your expectations.
You've thrown some insults my way and I don't know why if you're following Jesus' commandments...

The Word is the final Word not the word of the church fathers...
I take them over YOURS.

You believe you know more than they did?
You think they weren't using letters?
You knew some of the Apostles in first person like they did?

Why say such silly things?

How long you figure it'll take?
I'm your age and was saved at 28.
Ain't got much longer...

I know that unforgiveness will make a block in ones path. Can't get past it.

That's worse than adultery.

BTW
Are you walking with Him?

I doubt it.
