This tells us exactly when Jesus will return, he returned when summer came. The only thing left to figure out is when did summer come.
Jesus was speaking rhetorically. The idea is you'll know the season of His return and not the day or hour; it has nothing to do with the four seasons.

We have two things mentioned in the bible about the second coming of Jesus.

1) The day of the Lord - no light in it, darkness only.
2) The day of Christ - Christ descending from heaven - our blessed hope that brings comfort.

I agree, the season was summer and it's talked about in Amos 8. 8 being the number for new beginnings.

What part wasn't fulfilled, I'm asking, I don't know what part you may consider unfulfilled.
Matthew 24:30 was this fulfilled when Jesus rose from the dead? Because the disciples kept waiting for Jesus to come back even after it, epistles of Paul and Peter both make it clear.

Have any of you read Amos?

Amos 8:2 KJV
And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the Lord unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.

SUMMER fruit has been gathered and then the END of Israel comes.

Matthew 24:32 KJV
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

Do you think there may be a correlation between these 2 verses?

Jesus said there would only be 1 sign given, is the sign of Jonah the same thing as the sign of the Son of man in heaven? I think it is unless there are other sciptures that say otherwise.

Matthew 16:4 KJV
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Only Pre Tribbers believe in a secret coming rapture and they even have the ''Secret'' part of the their teaching wrong. The secret aspect of the rapture originally meant that no one knew the teaching until it became 'revealed ' by those who started to spread it. It had nothing to do with Jesus coming secretly.
ONLY POST TRIBBERS AND MID TRIBBERS BELIEVE WE TEACH A SECRET COMING RAPTURE. THE SO-CALLED SECRET IS A FIGMENT OF YOUR SUSPICIOUS IMAGINATION.

There NO SECRET to it. These verses scream loud and clear, that our Bridegroom is coming before God Pours out his Wrath upon the Earth.

Matthew 25:1-13 (ESV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.
[SUP]2 [/SUP] Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them,
[SUP]4 [/SUP] but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] But at midnight there was a cry, ‘
Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.
[SUP]8 [/SUP] And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
[SUP]9 [/SUP] But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’
[SUP]10 [/SUP] And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.
[SUP]11 [/SUP] Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’
[SUP]12 [/SUP] But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
[SUP]13 [/SUP] Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Why did he tell people nearly two thousand years start WATCHING? Because if you are Expecting the Bridegroom any time, you will KEEP READY, because it is the NEXT major event in Prophecy that will be fulfilled. NOT the Seven Year Peace Treaty Covenant, NOT the Pouring Out of the Wrath of GOD on the World, NOT the Mark of the Beast, NOT the Beheading of the Tribulation Saints, NOT the TWO WITNESSES, and NOT THE SECOND COMING. The CALLING OUT OF THE BRIDE OF CHRIST TO GO TO THE WEDDING OF THE LAMB IS THE NEXT MAJOR EVENT ON THE PROPHECY CALENDAR .

NO SECRET AT ALL.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 (HCSB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

NO SECRET AT ALL.

Revelation 3:10 (HCSB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] Because you have kept My command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come over the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

NO SECRET AT ALL.

Titus 2:11-13 (HCSB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people,
[SUP]12 [/SUP] instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age,
[SUP]13 [/SUP] while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing {NOT THE SECOND COMING} of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

NO SECRET AT ALL.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (HCSB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air {NOT THE SECOND COMING described in Zech 14.} and so we will always be with the Lord.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] Therefore encourage one another with these words.

NO SECRET AT ALL.

The so-called Secret is ONLY in your mind, because you have kept your eyes closed to the plain Truth in the Scriptures.

Exactly, and didn't the sign of Jonah specifically come to those wicked "religious" leaders ~ 66-70 AD?

The sign of Jonas is death (entering the mouth of the whale) Three days buried (in the mouth of the whale) and Resurrection (out of the mouth of the whale)

When was "wheat" gathered in ancient Israel? Some might be surprised that it's in the Spring. Titus arrived and surrounded the city in April, 70 AD. Just prior to his arrival all the Christians in the city fled by divine orders to Pella and thus the "wheat was harvested."

As you expertly point out, the harvest of the "tares" representing the end of Jerusalem (the main prize), was the fig harvest. Figs are harvested in Summer, August more specifically. On the 10th of August (9th Av), Titus broke through the final wall and torched the temple and city. The second temple was destroyed on exactly the same day (9th Av) as the first temple.

Are those passages related? I'm willing to make that bet.

I don't think Christians fleeing to Pella is the wheat harvest. When something is harvested, it is taken out of the field... the field is the world.

You just helped me understand the wheat and tares parable! It was SPRING time (spiritual spring time not literal spring) in Israel when the old testament saints were resurrected.

Daniel 12:1-2 KJV
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

[2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

It is not someones fevered imagination I have actually heard Pre Trib Pastors call it a secret rapture and how people will wonder where all the Christians had gone. The rapture coincides with the seventh trumpet it happens just before or during the outpouring of wrath. To say that there is no signs before it makes no sense when Revelation is full of them. Also if there is
no signs prior to the rapture why all the fuss about Israel becoming a state in 1948?.

The teaching of a Pre Trib rapture is a lie.

Corrie ten Boom wrote in her 1974 book Will Christians escape Tribulation that in China Christians were told not to worry because before the tribulation comes they would be raptured then persecution came and millions of them were tortured to death She said that later she heard a Bishop from China say we have failed we should have made the people strong in times of persecution rather than telling them that Jesus would come first. Corrie Ten Boom had personal experience with persecution. She was put in a concentration Camp for helping Dutch Jews to escape the Nazis She died in 1983

I wonder how many more Christians will find out too late that what they have been taught was a lie

It was also literally Spring time. Christ was taken off the Cross just hours before the start of Passover. Passover is in April. If you are correct about the OT resurrection, then this happened literally in the Spring.

The wheat and tares were the believing and unbelieving Jews. They grew up together. At the end of the age (70 AD), they were separated literally just before Passover. The wheat were gathered to Pella (His barn) and the Tares were trapped as in a prison inside Jerusalem where they were burned in August (Summer).

The correlating messages between these two verses is, to me, that sinners put off repentance from day-to-day because people think the Lord delays His judgements. But we see in other passages that today is the day of Salvation is the attitude we should hold according to Jesus.

In (Matthew 24:32-41) - What if the phrase until these things have happened has no reference to the Second Coming? What if their reference is, in fact, to the prophecy with which the chapter began, the siege and fall of Jerusalem? If we accept that, there is no difficulty. What Jesus is saying is that these grim warnings of his regarding the doom of Jerusalem will be fulfilled within that very generation--and they were, in fact, fulfilled forty years later. It seems by far the best course to take (Matthew 24:32-35), as referring, not to the Second Coming, but to the doom of Jerusalem, for then all the difficulties in them are removed in the first section referencing the second coming.

(Matthew 24:36-41) do refer to the Second Coming; and they tell us certain most important truths.

1). They tell us that the hour of that event is known to God and to God alone. It is, therefore, clear that speculation regarding the time of the Second Coming is nothing less than blasphemy, for the man who so speculates is seeking to dislodge from God, secrets which belong to God alone. It is not any man's duty to speculate; it is his duty to prepare himself, and to watch.

2). They tell us that that time will come with shattering suddenness on those who are immersed in material things. In the old story Noah prepared himself in the calm weather for the flood which was to come, and when it came he was ready. But the rest of mankind were lost in their eating and drinking and marrying and giving in marriage, and were caught completely unawares, and were therefore swept away. These verses are a warning never to become so immersed in time that we forgot eternity, never to let our concern with worldly affairs, however necessary, completely distract us from remembering that there is a God, that the issues of life and death are in his hands, and that whenever his call comes, at morning, at midday, or at evening, it must find us ready.

3). They tell us that the coming of Christ will be a time of separation and of judgment, when he will gather to himself those who are his own.

Beyond these things we cannot go--for God has kept the ultimate knowledge to himself and his wisdom.

The rapture coincides with the seventh trumpet
While I am still undecided on my eschatology and praying and studying it out, I must say that this is the view that I first thought of when I became Christian, I simply compared 1 Thessalonians 4:16 to the cross-reference 1 Cor 15:51-52 and I read about the last trumpet, then when I found the last trumpet and it said "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord" I thought it was just that simple.

But yes. There is no bulletproof view of eschatology, if there was, we would have no debate about it.

First fruits of them that slept, not them that will sleep.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
