of course God's Laws are real and have created a reality that we must live-in
in order to survive - but who in the world is denying Christ's Holy Sacrifice, Salvation??? why is this even an issue? but we know, don't we, the wiley-one is working 'over-time' -don't worry 'saints', He knows exactly who are His and so do they...
Hi oldthenew,

I posted this elsewhere but thought it is relevant here and to your post. I don't know how many times we tell some people here that no one believes we are saved by the things we do ("the Works of the Law"), we still get accused of the same. I do not think they can see that it is only through the Law of God that we can see ourselves just as God sees us, as sinners in need of a savior and that all of our own righteousness is as filthy rags (Isa 64:6). It is only here as sinners, that we can see our need of help and cry out to Jesus "Lord save us we perish" (Matt 8:25). It is only in this conditions looking into the perfect Law of liberty (James 1:25) as our mirror that God's Law can be our schoolmaster that leads us to find Jesus as our very own Lamb of God that takes away our sins. God's Law shows us that all we can do without him is sin and that this disease is in us and that there is nothing that we can do in our own strength to save ourselves. It is only here that we can lay hold of the promises of God alone and by Faith alone completely depend on the Word of God to do what it says it will do that we see the love of God towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us and washed us in His own blood and that by His stripes we are healed and it is here that we love him because he first loved us (Rev 1:5; John 3:16; 1Pet 2:24; 1John 4:19)

People do not realize that it is only as we continue in his Word the very same way that we found Jesus by complete dependence on the Word of God to do what it says it will do in us by faith that we are His disciples (John 8:31). It is only here that we can see the God of Love and by beholding by faith we become changed into his image so that we can love as he has loved us (2Cor 3:18). Now finally we do not keep God's law for salvation but God works in us to will and to do of His own good pleasure as we have complete dependence and faith in His Word to do what it says it will do (Phil 2:13) and it is because we love Jesus that we follow him (John 14:15). Salvation is by Faith in God's Word alone. Only the Law of God can bring us to Christ that we might be justified by Faith (Gal 3:24). Do away with God's Law you do away with salvation because Jesus did not come to call the righteous but sinners (Matt 9:13) It is sinners that God makes into saints so that God can show the world "here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" (Rev 14:12). It is only as God writes His Law of Love in us as we walk in the Spirit that we can follow Jesus (Rom 8:1-5). Love is the fulfilling of God's Law and is the New Covenant (Rom 13:10; Heb 8:10-12).

God's Word tells us that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Each one of us needs to decide for ourselves do we want to follow God's Word or the teachings and traditions of man over the Word of God. We can only find God through His Word as we seek him and ask him (Isa 55:6-7; Jer 29:13; John 14:26). It is here he promises to help us and guide us and reveal himself to us.

It is God's Word that teaches that His 7th Day Sabbath is just as much a part of God's Law as the other 9 and God tells us if we break one of these commandments (10) we are guilty before God as sinners because sin is the transgression of God's Law (James 2:10-12; 1John 3:4)

These linked posts below are just for those that are interested. Everything some people have posted recently have already been answered elsewhere. They just close their eyes to God's Word and do not want to see. This is for those that Love Jesus and hear Gods Words.

The real Gospel?

What is the difference between God's Law and the laws of Moses ?

... Salvation is by Faith in God's Word alone...
This is a lot of rot and you go on to try to make a Federal case out of this statement!
There is a word for this - bibliolatry!

Even your attempt at Word play here does not wash...

Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone!

The word of God tells a story of God's dealing with man through a huge time-span.
It tells us that the fall of mankind changed things.
God made covenants of different types with individuals and nations.
The covenants with Adam, Noah, and Abraham were unconditional.
The covenant with Moses (and by extension Israel) was conditional on obedience - and they failed miserably...

The New Covenant changed everything because the primary parties in the covenant were the Father and the Son - to the Son was given the responsibility and burden of honouring and keeping the law perfectly unto death in order to be a once-for-all sin-offering for mankind.
We are the beneficiaries of this covenant not the primary parties to it!
As such we do not have the responsibility to the law as Jesus was tasked with.

Our responsibility is NOT to the law but to Jesus Christ Himself.
Paul as well as the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews makes it very clear that a new ethic emerges - love!
Firstly love for God, and secondly love for mankind!
Paul specifies the nature of this new ethic, especially as relates the New Covenant believer to mankind, by listing the fruit of the Spirit - all these one is to DO - there are no prohibitions here.
Paul summarises this emphasising that there is no law against these things.

Your teaching that becoming a Christian immediately places the burden of law-keeping back on our shoulders is false, a doctrine from the pit of hell in fact!
The Covenant God made with Moses is COMPLETELY set aside by the New Covenant!
There is no continuity here - the parties to the covenants are not the same, and the outworking of the two covenants are very different.
Mosaic Covenant - righteousness gained by COMPLETE obedience to the law.
New Covenant - righteousness obtained by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone as the sole and unique mediator of the New Covenant!

Because of the terms of the two covenants one cannot be party to both covenants simultaneously.
They are mutually exclusive - the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews explicitly emphasises this over and over again (and, of course, totally by the way, also repetitively hammers home which covenant he thinks is the better), and Paul in his Epistles to the Romans and Galatians in particular makes the distinction absolutely plain!

The centrepiece of the covenant God made with Moses IS the ten commandments.
And, in particular, the 4th commandment - that to observe the Sabbath - is actually the sign of this covenant!
All of it was given by God to Moses and the rest of the law is nothing more than an expansion of the ten commandments!
And none of it is now binding on New Covenant believers!
Why?
Because we are NOT parties to this covenant!

Hi graceNpeace,

I am not interested in your opinions and the teachings of man. I am only interested in sharing God's Word. I am not saying the things in your post that you are accusing me of. I am happy to share God's Word with you, but I know whatever I say to you will not mean anything. Love is the fulfilling of the Law because God does this work in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal mind) but after the Spirit. Do you know what the fruits of the Spirit are?

I love God's Word how about you?

There is nothing tricky and not lies and distortion about the Word of God you just need to pray and ask Jesus with an honest heart like the faithful Bereans. I share the Word of God. You share your opinions. God's Word says..

JOHN 12:
[SUP]47,[/SUP] And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
[SUP]48,[/SUP] He that rejects me, and receives not my words, hath one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Thanks for responding.

That answers my first question but I can't see how it relates to my second question.

Not being obtuse but to me legalism is works that we do in order to be saved and stay saved.
If it's not as a result of faith then is not like filthy rags?

Do you think righteousness transferred is the same as imputed righteousness?
If so can you quote bible verses that you interpret to say this is a false premise?

Bill
forming a legalistic means of salvation by proxy and claiming one is righteous because of what Jesus did but still lives in iniquity is very legalist, and that of a self-righteous mind set...This is what the Pharisees claimed of themselves in John 8; in that they were in bondage to sin, but still felt they were right in God's eyes and would abide in the house forever, but Jesus said to them that the servant of sin abides not in the house for ever... ....legalism is a broader subject than you perceive it to be...be blessed......

Hi graceNpeace

That is between you and God you are entitled to your view. We can only find the truth however as we seek it through the Word of God. We will never find Jesus trying to find it through the teachings of men. If any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, hath one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. Let God's Word be the Judge.

Billy, the word imputed is not a biblical term, it was a bad translation of the Greek. If you examine Romans 3 you will see the same Greek word translated as reckoned several times.... The idea of imputation by transfer of virtue was invented by layers during the reformation, and after 500 years of this myth it is cemented in the minds of billions like garnet bedrock, however it is not built upon the Rock of truth...... remember truth is not popular, and is not a driving force in the world...the correct translation is reckoned, accounted, or numbered among as based on what works one does, either the works of righteousness, or the works of sin....be blessed

No, that is not legalism, did you go to the same school as peter jens?

Legalism states I have to earn my salvation by the works I do. The Pharisees were legalists because they thought they earn ed salvation by obedience to the law.

The law could not judge them, because they thought they were perfect by the law.

1 Co. 15:34 tells us to awake to RIGHTEOUSNESS and sin NOT. 2 Cor. 7:1 tells us to cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit and be holy and verse 10,11 explains how to do this in a repentance not to be regretted of .

The flesh kings formed a legal transaction, vicarious sacrifice (of which is legalism), by which they can serve iniquity and still gain access to the kingdom, perceiving spiritually filthy feet can somehow walk upon the golden streets of glory without spotting it..

Does Ellen White ring a bell?

Your reference to the mark of the beast (Rev 14:6-7) is straight out of her garbage (I will not dignify her error-ridden plagiaristic writings as either prophecy or teaching)!
And hence the fictional creation of the "law of God" and the "law of Moses" to justify the Sabbath and Sabbath-keeping while labeling Sunday worshipers as having the mark of the beast - and hence eternal condemnation!

Shame on you!

Concerning Righteousness. The Word of God is TRUE.

1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Those who DO righteousness are Righteous, EXACTLY like the above Holy Inspired by God Scriptures teaches.
Those who knowingly and willingly commit sin are of the devil, EXACTLY like the above Holy Inspired by God Scriptures teaches. And ALL Scriptures are instructions to Righteousness. Those who have Jesus living inside of them have the Power and Strength to destroy ALL the works of the devil through Jesus who is in them. But woe to them who claim they know Jesus and that Jesus lives in them, yet these same freely choose to obey satan and continue to live in sins, never ceasing from them. What does Scriptures call those who can't cease from sin?

2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

Can you cease from sin? If Jesus were your Strength and Power against Every temptation, then that answer is "YES"
Can you cease from sin? If you continue to knowingly and willingly do those things which you KNOW is sinful and against Jesus Christ, but freely choose to continue to do that sin, and don't want to cease from doing that particular sin, then you will not cease from living in sin.
Can you cease from sin? Not if you believe it is not possible or you don't have to, then you will never attain it.
Those who Truly desire to walk in the light as Jesus did, can do it with His help. But who WANTS to "Go and Sin No More"? Who is willing to give up that sin that they so much love and enjoy doing? Cursed children. Not merely because they can't cease from sin, but because they freely choose to continue to live in sin.

Those who do righteousness are Righteous.
Those who do UNrighteousness are children of the devil.
Your Master and Lord is to whom you obey. Do you obey Jesus when you are tempted to commit sin, or do you just deny His Power and Strength to overcome that temptation? And why do you deny Christ, because you WANT to commit that sin. For who willingly commits a sin that they don't want to commit? These want to obey satan, and still think they are on the narrow and difficult path that leads to Eternal Life, they will hold on to any particular verse that they THINK allows them to continue to live in sin and still be SAVED.

Hi Dave, Did you read the OP 1st post? I understand so much gets shared here and one post after another is so difficult to read and follow. For that reason the same topics get re posted by new people because these are the same age old questions and truths we believers will always be needing to grow deeper in.

One of the major truths is to know the righteousness we have as believers was given to us. It is a gift from the Jesus Himself. What we do is receive the gift when we get saved and that gift means we are no longer unrighteous. We are now IN righteousness no longer outside of that righteous place that is called being "in sin"

The reason we are not guilty anymore so we won't be judged anymore is because we are seen by God IN His Son. He sees His Son's righteousness on us because we received it the moment we got saved and were made new creations IN Christ. We didn't earn it and we were not worthy of it. By grace through faith we received His righteousness. As we must receive all things from God in Christ by faith from now on. From now on we live BY the righteousness of faith., not the righteousness of works.

That is why we have been set "free indeed"

There is nothing "simple" about the doctrine of once saved, always saved. It's advocates rip verses out of context and apply a meaning to them that contradicts other verses.
On the contrary salvation is extremely simple and that is why people stumble over Gospel truth and the doctrine of salvation (we could call it Soteriology and destroy its simplicity).

Human beings have been conditionded to believe that in order for something to be valuable it must be complicated. But the Bible speaks about "the simplicity of Christ", and that simplicity is expressed throughout Scripture. Let's look at John 11:25,26:

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

How complicated is that?

Then we come to imputed righteousness. The one who repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ receive the robe of Christ's righteousness. Therefore when God looks at a saint who is "in Christ" He sees him as PERFECT as Christ! How do we know this?

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:5).

"Counted" and "imputed" mean the same thing. So to answer the OP, yes we who have believed are indeed righteous before God.

Then should we not be righteous in our attitudes, our behavior, what we say, and what we do? Absolutely. And that is covered by another simple Scripture.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; (Titus 2:11,12).

That is the reason the Bible says "His seed remains in us" Because a new creation was born when we got saved., and we are no longer in Adam., but now we are IN Christ. In Adam...all have sinned. In Christ... all are righteous. A transaction has taken place. A new life has been made each time someone gets saved. Even the angels rejoice!!

Lovely post Nehemiah. When I start looking at the meaning of "grace" I begin to see the truth unfold of what the gift of righteousness means. We are loved unconditionally and freely. We are given the gift of salvation and all that means in it's many facets. Our salvation is not based on our merit but based on His merit and worthiness.

There is nothing between us and God any more because the veil was ripped in two and now we have our Great High Priest that goes before us who lives after the power of an endless life. He ever maketh intercession for the saints. He never has to go back and make anymore sacrifices and neither can we. And because Jesus is God., He will never die. I love the phrase that Jesus lives after the power of an endless life and so we never have to worry He can die again and stop being our Intercessor.
