I answered this at least twice Stone.

You're quoting THE END OF JESUS' ministry.
By this time He knew Judas would betray Him.

However, at the BEGINNING of Jesus' ministry, Judas was saved.
How can we know this?

BECAUSE.
Jesus sent Judas out with the other 11 Apostles to preach and teach and heal.
Check out Mathew 10:1-15

Do YOU think Jesus would send an UNBELIEVER to preach and teach the WORD OF GOD???

Stop thinking everything I say is wrong because you love Dcon so much and just think about this.
Its His Word I love Fran. Dcon is my brother. For you to say that last sentence reveals your heart.

Um , it looks like someone telling others to "study up" needs to just take the half second of time and ACTUALLY READ THE BIBLE HERSELF because the given Scripture refutes her already:

I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ - John 13:18

This is in reference to what Christ knew and predicted in the OT, Psalm 41:9.

Now, foolish pride won't allow one to admit to ones own ignorance and blatant error here.

Some need to crack open their Bible prior to banging their keyboard, rebuking others in total ignorance. Unreal.

i think the problem is, and we all suffer at tims from it, we have a belief system, and interpret the word to FIT our belief, or our belief to fit the word, whether it be the gospel, a particular doctrine, prophesy or whatever we are hardened to,

I already answered. But to back that up. Jesus would not entrust Himself to any man for He knows what is in us.

will have to find for the exact quote.
OK.

Sounds good.

And why would Jesus entrust the Jews of His time to be taught by a non-believer? (Judas, Mathew 10)

How could this be?
If this is so, we have a problem with Jesus' common sense.

She really needs to read and re-read Scripture. One wonders if some crack open their bibles at all?

Perhaps being made aware that Jesus, YHWH of the OT already prophesied beforehand what Judas would do, and that Christ would then of necessity already know these things in time when he was incarnate. In fact being YHWH he was aware of all things prior the foundation of the world, being omnisicient and eternal in his being.

Pesky little facts like this, which are plain in Scripture of which she shows ignorance.
Why are you speaking to Stone about me?
I'm HERE.
Speak to me.

Gossiping on here all the time.
But you know the gospel much better than I do...
sigh.

Oh, so now she is saying because Judas preached, he was "saved". Unbelievable.

Here we have Jesus refuting her false teachings, once again:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Crack. Open. Your. Bible.

The Word is the Word of God. To hold a thought that is entirely wrong is the perversity spoken of in Acts that wolves bring into the midst of believers. Paul would never mince words at all.

It must be confronted with the hope of one seeing their error.

Truth can be hard but I've had many confront me and am glad for it. Fran should take some time off and study on her own. I did. Best thing I ever did.
Fran has been studying with me personally for close to two years.
What I see in this thread are a lot of heated arguments that cause a lot of misunderstanding.
If someone is wrong, it's hard to tell them if ten people are yelling at them at once.
There is no love in that.
It shows each person has their own agenda and that person will see that it is fulfilled.
The Holy Spirit would not allow you to be part of that confusion.
Think about it.

I comprehend your opposing argument quite well, however, I completely do not accept your opposing argument.
Thank you. We have 75% of the battle conquered...you understand the argument.

The flesh is born of the water, once, cannot be unborn or born again
The spirit is born of the Spirit (generate from above), once, cannot be unborn or born again
Except for the 'unborn' part, I agree. The born again experience is a one-time deal. It only happens once, only needs to happen once, and God does not allow it to happen for a person a second time. You only get one shot at it.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.[SUP][c]

[/SUP]It might also help to understand that in 1 John5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: γεγέννηται means to "generate one from above."

The word is in the perfect tense, which means that “[it] expresses the continuance of completed action.
The child of God is one who is generated out from the God remains generated out from the God; further, the
child of God is one who (because of his birth out from the God) is continuously believing
(Case for Koine - Timothy Carter)
Yes, being born again is a completed action that continues up to the present time. No one disputes this. And it will continue as a completed action into the future if you keep believing. That's what the Bible plainly says.

The author of your quote says the born again person is continuously believing. That has to be true. That's what secures the born again experience. But will that person always believe? That is the true question of whether or not OSAS is true.

The only fundamental disagreement with Calvinist OSASer's I have is I believe that genuinely believing people can stop believing. Calvinists believe if you stop believing you were 'not really' a true believer to begin with. They say if you had been a true believer you would not have stopped believing. I respect the argument, but I also respectfully disagree with it at this point in my doctrinal development (and personal experience--no not me, someone else, lol).

You sure do like to twist things :( I believe it was in reference to putting God in our debt by trying to add to our salvation by works

Have you not come to this thread and put yourself under fire by taking the opposing view as always

What I am trying to understand is why?
Fire hurts me none.

Incorrect doctrine hurts me plenty.

There is more than enough scripture presented here Fran to show your error. We won't hold it against you if you can humble yourself not to us, but tovyhe truth of what you have read. We all make mistakes.

I can only surmise you are in a lot of pain :(...unless you have changed your mind about needing works to be saved or to continue to be saved

NO!

I know what I say and mean it.

Persons here parrot what he says and do not seem to think on their own.

How could it be that you are all gathered here together?
When I'm not here you talk to each other and encourage each other in your INCORRECT doctrinal beliefs.

Let's see you, one time, disagree with Dcon, your pope, who proclaims and you follow.

You're not even CONSIDERING what I'm saying about Judas.
Read up on some theologians that say this.

You think I sit around and read the bible and make up my own doctrine like some here do?
NO. This is NOT the way to learn theology.
Theology is learned by studying with theologians.

You have much to learn Allen. Emotional attachments should never be greater than the truth of Gods Word. Stubbornness is rebellion. Love for God..all our heart, mind, strength, is primary. The second is to love others. To hold to truth in the face of opposition is loving others and in the case of Judas? It was at his expense so to speak. The same here.

Are you thinking it should be, I'm ok, you're ok. Just love each other and be happy?

would you die for that?

I'm leaving.
I pray that you all understand that we are to PRACTICE what we PREACH.

It matters not about Judas. It IS an interesting subject to discuss since different theologians have different beliefs.
But it's IMPOSSIBLE to disuss anything on this thread.
Think about WHY.
Because the word WORKS scares all of you too much.
Think about WHY.

Love to you all.

dcon and I disagreed last evening. I know he's wrong, (;)) so was not offended. Am teasing here.

Just study on your own Fran. Let Holy Spirit teach you. Let Him fill you with His Word and it will well up out of you as you speak.

I prefer to stick to the one true teaching of scripture rather than the differing ones of theologians......

for those who ARE saved have the assurance of salvation ...they have received the

gift of eternal life never to be forsaken or taken back:D

You start with judgment and you finish with guilt.
It seems you are the one in need of a better relationship with the Holy Spirit.
