Hi folks! I'm joining because I have received dreams three nights in a row telling me to be involved in a chat room!

Back in 2010 I told God He could send me dreams; this was after I'd seen a TV interview with John Paul Jackson. He had said that God wants to communicate more with His people at this time, and He is happy to send us dreams. I thought, "That's what I want! I can talk to Him in prayer, and He can talk to me through dreams!" So I said, "Please send me dreams!" He did, and I soon learned that I needed to write them down or I forgot them. So that's how I became a dream logger!

Now, after several years practice (and with JPJ's list of symbols to help get me started), I'm pretty good at understanding dreams. I believe that God wants me to join this chat site so that I can help people with this stuff. And sometimes I might be the one asking for help!

Welcome, Yes the Lord gives dreams & visions to people as the scriptures says. Make sure you test the spirits and get conformation from the lord to validate it's from him.

God has been sending me prophetic dreams since I was a tot but I did not know they were prophetic until they started coming true when I had moved across several states to a new home with my folks & two older brothers in the summer of July before starting my fifth grade in the fall.

The thing is... those dreams were just for me. I do not care to share them much because that would be talking about me too much. They are not dreams/nightmares that exalts me, but to christians on the outside looking in, when it does not apply to them, they have a tendency to be skeptical even more. The conveniency of a dream coming true after the fact.

And that is the problem. Not every dream/nightmare is prophetic. The ones that warned me of future sins, I have finally learned to ask the Lord for His intervention to lead me away from it.

Dreams that reflect my current spiritual status has a way of ministering to me too in how much I need the Lord as my Good Shepherd.

But future events? Once it comes true, then you new you had a prophetic dream. Sometime it is literal.. but most of the time, it is symbolic. I had a dream when I was a tot of someone I loved had died, and the light faded from her hair and I saw her for who she really was. The odd thing was.. I knew her, and yet I also knew I had not met her yet.

But nobody else will believe that. It is not important for me for any one to believe that. I just know it is true. Because of the unusual oppression that I am under, God sent those dreams to let me know that He is still Lord and that He will help me through even that, even though because of the oppression, I could not be close to any one to really love them on a personal level because of the oppression of my enemies. I kept my distance... to protect those I would have loved dearly.. or so I would think I would in the Lord; I do not want to boast of love when love cannot be boastful.

Anyway... if a believer has a disturbing dream, the only thing I would suggest is take it to the Lord in prayer and ask Him for help to understand the dream and if it is prophetic .. to intervene to lead you away from sinning or evil or whatever.

So do not be surprised when people are silent or not exactly enthusiastic for sharing dreams or being receptive of them.

I just give thanks to the Lord for being my Good Shepherd that He had to give me those dreams for how bad my life would be now, but it is okay for He comforts me and keeps my head and sights on Him and the things above.

That's one good reason why I'm glad to be here now! At last, I have some people I can consult! I don't personally know anyone who also receives dreams from the Lord, and at times they've been really confusing and off-putting. But now I have some people with whom I can discuss things!

Indeed, that you have not found many people with your "gift" is not odd at all,for this is God's plan for only a fare few,not everyone is given the gift of dreams or the gift of interpreting dreams, all have their "individual" role for God,though as some have suggested with either clear dismay or warning,it is wise to "consider" whom the dreams are from for true enough God gives dreams for a useful purpose that results in helping someone,or being warned of something, where as satan gives dreams of one's desires and bear no good to anyone but himself,I sincerely hope your dreams and interpretation of dreams is of God,for I know such things are a "heavy burden",so feel free to speak more on this in a thread, but keep in mind that not all here are very prone to believing such things understandably because we have had false prophets and dreamers having dreams and interpretations "Not of God" so just take things one stepday at a time,anyways....
Welcome here you can discuss with bible smart people and possibly make new friends, hope you like it here!

now how did I guess you'd be here, why sneer at possible "actual dreams and interpretations of dreams from God?
I understand everyone's immediate "doubt" because of past, false dreamers, but are we not to be considerate of the 1 out of millions that may be given "True" dreams and interpretations from God?

Glad you shared this, after all if your dreams be from God no need to hide such things, though I understand that many dismiss such things as 3 people here clearly did...such things are not so "easy" to discuss though I don't understand "why" after all if we "claim" to be for God then what's a little forbearance if we have "Faith" because whether such things are true or not we "should" be not swayed.

Dream interpretation books are just people's opinions of what dreams mean. I would advise you to stay away from dream intrepretation books. Sounds to close to the occult. Use the bible for help with interpreting dreams. Ask mature Christians about dreams you have. They can provide great insight into what a dream might mean. Sometimes when God gives a dream the meaning will be so obvious that you will just know what it means. Welcome to Christian Chat!

You might like this one: in one dream, God called me "Bullwinkle"! He did this because I had been just like Bullwinkle, well-meaning but clumsy!

Guess what - every once in a while God introduces another animal into my dreams, and tells me what it means! So I'm gradually building up a menagerie of animal symbols. For instance, a scorpion is a symbol for a gossip, because there's a sting in the tail. Get it?

Anyway, you'll be pleased to know that I don't feel the need to read dream interpretation books. I'd rather
a) search the Bible for pre-existing symbols,
b) have Him teach me some new symbolism through dreams,
c) learn some new symbols through chatting with other dreamers!

Is it possible to have symbolism that doesn't occur in the Bible? Yes it is! I'll give you an example: in the Bible dogs are only negative symbols. But today you, or someone you know, could be symbolized in a dream as a dog, and with a positive meaning! Here is why: a classic, modern use for dogs is to help the shepherd look after the sheep! It's a superb symbol for portraying pastoral activity. And yes, I have seen it in at least one dream.

I have also seen a family I know, a family of dog people (you know, people who have dogs as pets) portrayed as their own pets! And those very same people were portrayed in another dream as cats, because I'm a cat person! (I'd rather have cats than dogs) The key meaning in these cases is that we care about our pets, and we feel that they're part of our family. So sometimes God might depict the people we care about in this way. He loves being creative, and symbolism is a very creative thing, so God loves using symbolism!

It pains me to tell you this but well, those sort of things aren't of God,they are reflections upon you own mind and heart, for they have meaning to you and may cheer you but they are not "Useful" as I stated before God sends "Only" dreams that are of importance in that from them one "can" help someone or warn people of a dire circumstance, not a barrage of symbols or dreams of being creatures or the like, they are either manifestations of your own mind and heart or are of satan in an attempt to give you your heart's desire through dreams, giving you things in dreams for he hasn't the power to make them reality, for he gives nothing good "Truly" to anyone he seeks only for one to be "distracted" by such dreams and seek him for comfort instead of God for he doesn't "Care" for you but he doesn't want God to have you,I hope you will not be upset from this post and that you will seek out the bible,God's word for "Truth" instead of simple symbolism because I am no prophet but it is simple to foresee what is next if you have not been asked to do so already satan will ask something of you something that will seem harmless but wicked,be vigilant for now I shall ask of God to be with you,for satan only attacks anyone when they are "aware" that they have been tricked,so I would suggest that you look through the bible for scriptures that are uplifting and powerful so you yourself can keep satan somewhat at bay,and try thinking on things of "innocence" like kid type shows,or listen to gospel music anything that is not hateful or sinful,in order to clear your mind,I shall be praying for you through this impending time that satan will seek you out again and he'll wonder about why you don't answer so quickly,Put your faith in God and trust that he will protect you!

I think you are making a dog out of his thoughts and beliefs, which is a little unfair. Understanding dreams can be massively important, if you get to the point of that understanding.

As for the reason symbols are used, when we wake out of the dream state which is often in a non-physical logic or language (energetic), our mind interprets it through it's own vast store of imagery/symbols. What people normally do is take those symbols literally, which is exactly the same as taking parts of the Bible literally.

A simple way to put dreams, is that the answer is always sideways.

We dream every night, how do you know satan hasn't attacked you, how do you know God hasn't spoken to you? If one wants to remember their dreams it is very simple. Before you sleep every night tell yourself 'I will remember my dreams, I will remember my dreams'.

I've had experience with premonition, lucid dreaming, dream reading (without literature). It helped me become aware of many things I was unaware of around me. However, I do agree with you to some degree that it a somewhat personal thing. I'm trying to think whether knowing a dream has ever helped anyone else? But still, it is creative and interesting to read. It is an expression. Like someone who draws art, or writes a song. It is pretty much the same thing, and probably comes from the same place, right? Is expression, Satanic?

Nothing in the Bible is more dreamlike than Revelations. I believe a master of dream recognition could maybe decipher it. But we live in a world that is against dreams and messing with them. Remind me who rules this physical dimension? Even healing the sick without a doctor is frowned upon, especially by religious persons. It's almost as if Jesus did not say, the thing's I can do, you can do also and greater things?

You leave out God in such a manner,"Wanting" to remember dreams, that is the obvious way to "Tell" without dream interpretation "Who" sent the dream or what inspired the dream for in the bible we are "Warned" of false prophets and those whom dream from their "Own" desires,as in God didn't send any dream to them but the individual tells people they did, where as in this case,if you "look closely" I actually "Defended" this newcomer, because I don't dismiss God's "gift" of dreams and dream interpretation, and I'm glad they were able to share so that I could "Know" what dreams they had,be aware what the "subject" of their dreams were, and even find out that they had conversed with an entity but the entity was clearly "Not" God,which is why I was "Concerned" so I posted a prayer request for this individual, and prayed to God outside the internet, and just recently awoke from one of the "Most" sickening and explicitly abominable dream that I've ever had from satan, which clearly states to me from satan that he is upset that I found him out,for I know of the scripture..."If satan is not against you then he already has you" well that fallen angel has not been seeking to trouble me lately for quite sometime, yet right after I warned this deceived dreamer of satan being the dream giver, and finishing not only a prayer request for this individual but after finishing "helping" an individual hopefully to no longer curse God,that once I slept for only around 2 to 3 hours,I received a completely offensive dream because satan is fearful and upset over me doing right for God and revealing to one he has fooled that he is not God,so thereby satan lost his grip on this individual,so I am glad for that,I'm not about to be ashamed of doing right for God,I am his servant, and I seek to "Help" all those whom come here for an answer to certain things, like with these dreams, and after considering them again I believe that the dream this person had of joining a chat site for 3 days was from God where as the other dreams of animals and clearly things of desire reflecting were of the devil for the most part,so if this has offended you then I apologize but I shall never apologize for telling the "Truth" which is what God wills of me.

I hear what you are saying, but I feel that it is skewed/biased in a way to your own thoughts about it, maybe based on a bad experience of some sort, and fear. I'm not offended, I'm just trying to be positive and welcoming. A new member comes in with his story, which isn't really offending anyone, and you cannot assume bad intention, you cannot assume bad self control.

For all we know, some people might come here and are genuinely gifted in a way we don't understand? I prefer to be glass half full, rather than glass half empty. How do we evolve and nurture a warm welcome place, where everyone is invited, even those with issues, or distortions, that we can help with, if when someone gives their thoughts which may well come from a good place (glass half full), we make assumptions and try to push them away (unknowingly)? It seems you are very passionate about this. Mix that with a little love too (casting out fear talk) and maybe what you have to say will be more helpful, or at least kind, as even if that is your intention, it comes across less so.

Peace :)

The dreams I believe were from God were more on the line of comfort and encouragement. God also gives dreams of warning as said in the book of Job. God has also given dreams about the future. You can read in about the story of Joseph in Genesis for instance. I don't think God gives dreams about you or the people you know being pet people. You already probably know you are all pet people so that is not something God needs to reveal. Even if you did not know they were pet people, how would that knowledge be useful to you? I had two dreams that I believe were definitely from God. One was so obvious I knew exactly what it meant. I wake up happy with that one. Another one I had was not too far before my dad died. It seemed to foreshadow death and it is a comforting dream. I have a hope of seeing him again in heaven because I know he believed in Jesus and also because of that dream.
