A shotgun is probably better for home invasions. Especially if you live in an apartment with sheetrock walls. Your neighbors would probably appreciate not being hit by stray bullets
Actually you can get handgun rounds for defense that will not go thru sheet rock but have about a 90% kill ratio....Glaser Tips

Only if you use birdshot in your shotgun. Buckshot penetrates walls much too well.

Actually, an AR-15 loaded with highly frangible "varmint" type loads is LESS likely to penetrate several walls than buckshot.
I just cannot get past those smoking hot, pesky, current U.S. issue 109 SS Green Tip Armor Piercing Penetrators

There is a video, floating around youtube about this. Some guys at a test range built a couple of walls. 2x4 covered in drywall. They shot it with 9mm and .45 acp. Both sailed right through. They also tested some 193 ammo with an AR 15. None of it penetrated through the other side. Most ball ammo for 5.56 is heavier in the rear of the bullet than the front. When it hits anything, drywall or flesh, it yawls and keyholes.

I have about 5k of the lake city 855. I can't get it to shoot better than a 6 inch group at 100 yards. I guess it's ok for defeating soviet body armor. I shoot it up so I can reload the brass. 69gr sierra over BL C2 gets me less than an inch.

I earn comfortably above minimum wage.

You weren't even clever enough to find a way to use my entire post to insult me, so you clipped off two thirds. So how much does Taco bell pay you these days anyway?
Around here Taco Bell pays $8.25/hr more than unemployed pays.

If I worked at Taco Bell I'd be losing the
fight against poverty, now wouldn't I?
Although I'd rather work there than eat there.
Alas, I'm merely a self-employed peon
who answers to no one but his clients.
But enough about me.
So what is it you do for all that money you're pulling down?
My first guess would be government bureaucrat.
Second guess would be customer service or administrative.
You know, something parasitical.

So, all the gun control laws that are necessary, were already passed a long time ago, and were fully in effect?
Apparently they're not being enforced

The problem wasn't enforcement, the problem was intergovernmental communication.

IF the military had properly communicated his felony conviction in a military court to the FBI so it could be entered into NCIC enforcement would have been a non-issue. Civilian courts (state and federal) automatically report all felony convictions and the military is SUPPOSED TO.

IMHO the USAF should be held financially liable for the costs incurred by their negligence.

I have no problem holding a tight group shooting the current issue rounds through my Ruger Mini-14 and or my AR-15 which is chambered for both 5.56 and .223.......Not saying this is the case with your weapon, but if it is not chambered for both and states both on the barrel it will not shoot the 5.56 ammo very well.....it could also be the twist ratio of your barrel.....or possibly a bad batch of ammo (powder loads inconsistent maybe)

I also shoot some hot little ballistic tips for deer (cough cough head shots cough cough) and have no problem with that either out of my Mini-14 scoped....

Uh..... isn't it you and me who bankroll the Air Force with every dime they spend? Aren't you simply saying that we need to cough up more taxes because they did not do their job?

Judging by how quick you are to insult and abuse others you must not be very successful at whatever you do. Happy people tend not to engage in that sort of behavior.

I strongly don't belive we can consciously just point towards liberals only , democrats along with republicans are on the same train. The republic has been hijack by individuals that do not want the people to have a say in thee future of america.

The Republic that the founding fathers envision is not what we are witnessing today. From birthday parties in the white house for popes, to endless wars with countries that are miles away that can't even defend themselves "syria".

Presidents that clearly run for office stating they are for republican party , then later in the run for presidency stating look at the power we have over the democrates over the republicans the power is incredible .

In these times thee only one on our side is God , Keep our eyes on Christ.

you must have at least a 1/8 twist... mine likes 60gr so far.. I haven't tried anything heavier. We are limited to "no fmj" at the range I frequent. I have some TSX's that I want to try... haven't gotten around to them yet.

That is a huge part of the problem. I remember in the Clinton admin, they bragged about how many felons had been prevented from purchasing a firearm because of the background checks. That's a good thing, but how many of those convicted felons were put back in prison for violating their probation/parole by trying to purchase a firearm?

NONE...

, I'm not buying that theory.
I can play a GTA game all day long and I don't have a desire to go shoot people. Hollywood is just entertainment. No one who is it already insane watches a violent movie and has the impulse to go shoot people.
That is very true and I agree, but here's my thinking who is making that claim? I don't think Willie was saying that you go play GTA V then go into a blind rage state and a murder spree, more suggesting that the violent content we feed ourselves from the shows we watch, the games we play, the music we listen to, hour after hour, day in and day out, from cradle to grave may have an effect on how we think. Is that the "cause", no of course not, but I think to tell yourself it as no effect at all is a little naive.

No I'm not going to listen to a song, be "taken over" and kill because the song/game/movie "made me" that's silly, but I can tell you I would listen to certain music on my way to fights or "problem solving" when I was younger to get pumped up and ready to hurt someone. I'n my experience it defiantly had an effect, but honestly I think that is more what Willie was taking about, you can't just take his point, turn it into a straw man version you can easily dismiss and think that refutes his real point. Can I ask you if you truly feel feeding yourself nothing but violent content on these levels from all angles really has no effect on how we think or see things? I'm not saying at all that it's the "thing's" fault that these kind of take place, you don't play a game then kill someone because of the game, but if the game can't be blamed the the gun can't either.

That particular rifle has a kreiger 1/6.5 barrel, 20 inch. It shoots everything like a lazer, except 855 ammo.

I have a daniel Defense, 1/7 16 inch. M855 seems sloppy compared to 193, but I use that to shoot steel.

I have a bushmaster carbine with a 1/9 twist I keep in the truck. It seems to do the best with 855, but it still seems the 193 is tighter on paper.

I buy the military ammo for plinking, and so I can use the brass to load something that actually has some accuracy to it.

Only Studies have shown the exact opposite. People who listen to music like death metal are actually less likely to be violent.
I can listen to a Cannibal Corpse album and not feel the need to go on a murderous Rampage

Some people are just sociopaths.
One of his classmates was interviewed and she said he was in high school.
We should have stricter anti-bullying laws as well.
I would suggest legislation that puts known bullies on the terrorist watch list

How autistic of you.
