I can just picture satan having a real good belly laugh over this tongues subject.
It's really not that hard to put together.
1. Tongues is the least of the gifts (I believe this is because while all the rest of the gifts are intended to edify others, tongues is intended to edify ourselves).
2. Paul wishes that we all would speak in tongues (but he goes on to say elsewhere that we won't all do it, which puts to rest the idea that anyone who does not speak them isn't Spirit filled).
3. There are different kinds of tongues, and they serve different purposes (one for prophecy to an assembly, another to speak to God in private, one to expose unknown mysteries, and yet another to speak to others who do not understand our language).
4. Time and place are EXTREMELY important considerations in the correct the use of our tongue(s) (using the wrong one at the wrong time leads to dissension and chaos)
5. Paul would rather us NOT speak in tongues than to do so incorrectly (because it gives people like Roger ammo for their heresies)
6. Saying that a legitimate, bonafide tongue used at the right place and time is the work of a demon is blaspheme of the Holy Spirit and will NOT be forgiven.
And now, for the rebuttal from the sadly uninformed....
