What's homiletics?
The art of preaching and writing sermons.

I think that poster meant hermeneutics, which is the study of Bible interpretation.

The above post, which had NOTHING to do with my post proves that you have gone to seed on a working for dogma and at every turn will do nothing more than try to prove your invalid points.....how about use your head, lose the dogma and address my post with something that is applicable.....for the record....you can post verses ALL the day long out of context to try and prove a self help guru working for dogma and neither you or your false buddies will change my mind that salvation is based entirely upon faith dia grace and that said salvation is eternal based upon the applied blood and imputed righteousness of Christ.

Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

1 Corinthians 4:1-7 So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, “Do not go beyond what is written.” Then you will not take pride in one man over against another. For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

Romans 12:9-21 Love Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

See how that works out or you when you stand before God.....but Lord...that is what the commentaries said....

My bible states that I have the Spirit of God and do not need a man to teach me anything....maybe trust the Lord, get saved and you will not need the commentaries that lead you astray.....
So, by claiming you "trust the Lord", you think you don't have to prove anything?

No, that won't do.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Since the only thing you've proven is you don't trust me at all, I'm going to show you the same courtesy.

BTW, you eisegesis isn't acceptable. EG said there's books out there to prove your beliefs, so you shouldn't have no trouble finding a few of them.

Since yer the preacher in this group, I want to read this from you, and not yer buddies, ok?

All this proves is that you can cut and paste, and almost 1.5 billion Muslims believe that Allah is God....see if you can figure that point out without Googling, cutting and pasting quotes from those who agree with your false dogma....
Oh, yeah, I suppose yer right.

Well, it shouldn't be hard to top my posts then, since all I'm doing is cutting and pasting from a Bible site.

It should be real easy for you then?

ignore him

hes as blind as the silly commentator he follows

so far hes shown zero understanding in any post ive seen from him

and has no desire to actually learn....
That's what I'd do, just ignore the blind guy.

Especially since you can't prove the bling guy is wrong.

You can't use a bible book to prove anything.

At least I haven't seen you do it yet.

AMEN........some of his comments reminds me of another past member who took exit 666 off of Route I-44 into that sleepy little town called Banville........
It shouldn't be hard for you to accuse me of anything, since the last several pages shows you doing that to others.

I suppose you have to do something to steer away from your challenge.

Funny thing....You know when your trying to take a nap in summer on the cot outside and the same pesky fly will buzz around and occasionally light on you only to be waved away to come back like 10 minutes later when our about to doze off again.....kind of like the workers for, sinless perfectionists and all who teach salvation can be lost.....all they do is buzzzzzzzzz around and annoy the kerdoodle out of everyone.....they never prove a thing other than by their own dogma that they are not making the cut and or have no understanding of context, verbiage and or verb tense.............52927-52931 ^^^^^^^^^^^^

What's homiletics?

That was a new one for me also?

Here is what the Dictionary says about it:

hom·i·let·ics

[hom- uh- let-iks]

NOUN [(USED WITH A SINGULAR VERB)]
1.

the art of preaching; the branch of practical theology that treats of homilies or sermons.
I do not agree with it, because I think it is a Spiritual Gift:

Romans 12:6-8 (NIV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
[SUP]8 [/SUP] if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

My Mother-inlaw said it best, "Some people think they are Gifted by GOD to Teach, when God actually called them to Plow."

Salvation - repentance, faith, works

Lose any part of the three and ones salvation goes.
Repentance - to abide in willfull rebellion and sin. Heb 10:26-27
faith - to cease to trust God saves you and the cross forgives you. Hebrews 11:6
works - cease to exercise love flowing through ones life. James 2:26

Repentance
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Heb 10:26-27
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? ......you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Faith
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Heb 11:6
We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. Heb 3:14

Works
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead James 2:26
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

False, false and that would be a false........Salvation is secure in Christ...your Jesus must be weak, ineffectual and unable to keep his word.....

Hebrews 10:26
Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary
26. Compare on this and following verses, Heb 6:4, &c. There the warning was that if there be not diligence in progressing, a falling off will take place, and apostasy may ensue: here it is, that if there be lukewarmness in Christian communion, apostasy may ensue.
if we sin—Greek present participle: if we be found sinning, that is, not isolated acts, but a state of sin [Alford]. A violation not only of the law, but of the whole economy of the New Testament (Heb 10:28, 29).wilfully—presumptuously, Greek "willingly." After receiving "full knowledge (so the Greek, compare 1Ti 2:4) of the truth," by having been "enlightened," and by having "tasted" a certain measure even of grace of "the Holy Ghost" (the Spirit of truth, Joh 14:17; and "the Spirit of grace," Heb 10:29): to fall away (as "sin" here means, Heb 3:12, 17; compare Heb 6:6) and apostatize (Heb 3:12) to Judaism or infidelity, is not a sin of ignorance, or error ("out of the way," the result) of infirmity, but a deliberate sinning against the Spirit (Heb 10:29; Heb 5:2): such sinning, where a consciousness of Gospel obligations not only was, but is present: a sinning presumptuously and preseveringly against Christ's redemption for us, and the Spirit of grace in us. "He only who stands high can fall low. A lively reference in the soul to what is good is necessary in order to be thoroughly wicked; hence, man can be more reprobate than the beasts, and the apostate angels than apostate man" [Tholuck].remaineth no more sacrifice—For there is but ONE Sacrifice that can atone for sin; they, after having fully known that sacrifice, deliberately reject it.

That's 5 that agree with each other, and with me. All of them from different denominations, and different centuries.

Speaking of lukewarmness:

Revelation 3:4“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation.15“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Being puked outta Jesus's mouth means being out of Christ.

'He who overcomes' is those that make it, those that don't, don't.

So are you going to explain yourself with a bible book? It's just cut-and-paste.
