It certainly wasn't Moses,Jesus said"them of old time" not any "one person".
Hi Joe nice to see you. I do not think that Studyman is saying it is referring to Moses. He is saying that the scripture applies to all.

Does God really want us not to light a fire on the Sabbath and possibly freeze to death?

Or has man made it up and taken God's name in vain?

Of course not you have a preparation day before the Sabbath to get everything ready for your fire if you need one to keep warm.

You shan't even light it.

Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day. (Exo 35:3 KJV)

Do you seriously think not lighting a fire, by which means you keep the law, will get you into heaven?

Did you watch the video? I give you link how the car engine work dear, check it out

when you start your car, the spark plug produce fire, so simple logic dear

to make simple, start your car mean kindle fire. Unless your car is electric, it may not but not guaranty.I work with Electric motor ( washing machine) I see sparking fire but not significant.

The scripture you quote is in relation to doing work under the civil laws of Israel in the OLD Covenant. You do not have to worry about kindling (preparing) a fire if you have done your preparation before the Sabbath starts on the preparation day (thurday evening to friday evening).

Exodus 35
1,
And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD has commanded, that you should do them.
2, Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day it shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever does work on it shall be put to death.
3, You shall kindle no fire throughout your houses upon the sabbath day.

At the time this was given most work was conducted using fire were work was required to make fire (collecting wood, kindling making fire). This is why there is a preparation day before the Sabbath starts.

We are not living under the OLD Covenant laws of Israel we are in the NEW Covenant now and it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. All preparations must be done before the Sabbath starts.

Yep so like I said you believe the Car is breaking the Sabbath and you need to stone it and put it to death. Amazing.

You need to read your bible my friend seem you are only making up things in order to follow your tradition that break the Commandments of God.

ALL who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN WILL be LOST and NOT Enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

not the car dear, if you kindle fire, you breaking the law, not the fire or the gas stove.

When you put you gas stove on, you breaking the law, not the stove

when you start the car on sabbath, you breaking the law, not the car

Actually The text is a bit ambiguous. It basically can be translated two ways.

Matt 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

Matt 5:21 Ye heard that it was said to the ancients, thou will not commit murder, but whoever should commit murder, he will be liable to the judgment.

Hmmm?

Kindling a fire is reference to the work involved in doing so. There is no work involved in turning on a stove or starting a car.

True, we are not living under the Old Covenant any more.
All preparations must be done before the Sabbath starts.
So if we are not living under the Old Covenant, why are you still doing it and why do you keep posting about it?

Hi Jackson, where does it say gas stove and driving a car is breaking God's LAW in God's Word?

If you are using a gas stove (or electric) to do cooking or working (Ex 35:1-3) I agree as this can be done on the preparation day.

All your other applications are simply made up and not biblical as we are living in the NEW Covanant not the OLD Covenant in Israel.

Good luck trying justify breaking God's 4th commandment and committing sin come judgement day Jackson. God's Word does indeed disagree with you.

I am not living under the OLD Covenant I am living under the NEW Covenant's GIFT of LOVE through FAITH in God's WORD. Many do not know what the Old Covenant is and have been taugh to be believe it is something that it is not because they do not read Gods Word for themselves.

What makes up the Old Covenant in your view?

Happy do discuss this with you and share God's Word.

Nothing. It is ended. End off. Try to understand. God makes a New Covenant with man and you just ignore it. That is not a good thing to do.

Here are how the Ancient Aramaic and Latin are translated.

You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Do not murder, and whoever murders is condemned to judgment.'
(Mat 5:21 FCAB [Aramaic])

You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill, shall be in danger of the judgment.
(Mat 5:21 DRB [Latin])

These being prior to the KJV; should we use their witness in how we understand Matt 5:21?

And also an inscription was written over Him, in Greek and Latin and Hebrew letters: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
(Luk 23:38 LITV-TSP)

The OLD is the witness to the NEW. Your answer only shows you do not know what the Old Covanant is. If you do not understand what the OLD Covenant is how can you understand the new?

There is no ignoring. For GOD has said, "this is the covenant which I will covenant with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord, giving My laws into their mind, and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

If the laws are in our hearts and in our minds we will not be ignoring them. We will be doing them because they have become part of who we are through Christ through GOD.
