He was. That's why I feel bad for him now. His theories were always a nose-thumb at God for his ALS.
You have no idea where this man, who suffered horrifically with ALS, now is. He was an atheist. That does not make him angry at God (that is your theory) ... It means that he did not believe in God. There is a difference between hating/being angry at AND disbelief.
He was a brillliant man and you all are hating on him a day after his death ... that is what is sick ... the hate in the heart. Jesus told us not to hate and not to judge.

I was surprised to wake up today, get on the Internet and the first thing I see is that Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76.

Stephen Hawking dies aged 76 - BBC News

He was an inspiration to me because even though he was disabled, he didn't let that stop him from doing what he wanted to do. His body was stricken but his mind was still so strong and held so much knowledge. I think that's very powerful and definitely says something.
He was an insperation to me, too. But his life scared me. To be disabled and live without a hope of once receiving a glorified body if not being healed would for me be a life not worth living. Although I do fairly well at work and at the Universitiy, everything I do I do for Him and the for the hope I have in Him. You can try to solve the mystery of the world's creation, but without God the existence is meaningless. For what purpose did he live, to prove that we don't need God to understand our existence?

If I couldn't lean on God through my trials.... Poor man. I hope he found faith before it was too late.

Wait, back up,no one here has said they hated this man. He did not believe in God,he said that himself. Why would he want to go to heaven to be with a God he never believed in or served? No one is judging Hawking. But his own words he didnt believe in God and he lived his life apart from God. Those are facts, that is not judging. The Bible says if you do not accept Christ as your Savior you suffer eternal punishment. Its sad that he chose the path he did but it was his choosing, not Gods.

Stephen died because God showed him the truth of what he has been looking at. God revealed all things about the universe and its nature to Steve, and it sickened him to death. It is now what you think. Steve is even now wearing his spiritual body dancing and singing praises. Now he knows fully even as he has been fully known.

I know this because God revealed to me at the very same moment. I am after all a witness to the spirit of our living God. there is no movement of the spirit that i do not feel and know and see.

The darkness you see, this is our sin. look at it. billions of lightyears of it. even forcing the universe as large as it is apart even further. as we continue in our sins It is my sin, your sin, all sin of all man kind, and all of it forgiven at the cross.
there are even black holes, these are Gods anus' sucking the darkness out of this corrupted universe, and sending it to sheole, where it belongs. Yes, sheole is Gods shit hold. HIs toilett. God shat out satan and all his followers when they fell. God is shitting out all our wickedness from this universe, all the black holes. DArk matter is what is holding it all together and that dark matter is all sin. This is the truth that Sickened Steve to death. He has been staring at God's waste and refuse and thinking, how beautiful it was, and we all do the same, we look up at the stars, and we exclaim how God put them in the sky, and made all things and how beautiful it is to behold, and indeed it is. Even Gods shit is beautiful but shit is shit. it is waste, God hates waste. this is why he shits it all out. God can not be adulterated. The pure can not be made impure. I knew Stephen died before all of you. I felt him leave and take his place in the body of christ. He is now married to our lord, as bride of Christ as all true believers one day will be.

yes, every beautiful spiraling galaxy including ours are all spiraling an anus of our God. That is the black hold at the center of all galaxies. But the beauty we see isnt the darkness. The beauty we look up and wonder at is the light. The lights. All the trillions and trillions of specks of light. They are all stars. They are all sources of energy. All support or supported life. All here are corrupt life. So now you see, this is the corruption. The creator and his perfect creation were infinite light. Perfect with no darkness at all. Satan lied to not only eve, but to all creation of God, and many many were deceived. Of course there are aliens. Not just on some worlds but on all worlds. There are either living or dying or long past gone. you think to yourselves, oh the dinasors prove that the earth is bla bla bla years old. You are right and wrong. What is a dinasor but another creation of God? just another member of God's body. Made in Gods image, and corrupted by lie. They too ate the fruit, nothing in this corrupt place did not eat the fruit, Except our Lord. The one true light that came into his self corrupted creation reaching out to call all who would hear so that as many as would follow could be saved. God desires none be lost.

If this is all true (the wikipedia write-up) He consciously rejected God. Unless of course he had a change of heart and cried out to God near the end.

Hawking stated that he was "not religious in the normal sense" and he believed that "the universe is governed by the laws of science". Hawking stated:
There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, [and] science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works.[SUP][319][/SUP]
In 2008, Hawking stated, "The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws".[SUP][320][/SUP] In an interview published in The Guardian, Hawking regarded "the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail”, and the concept of heaven as a myth, believing that there is "no heaven or afterlife" and that such a notion was a "fairy story for people afraid of the dark".[SUP][20][/SUP][SUP][134][/SUP] In 2011, when narrating the first episode of the American television series Curiosity on the Discovery Channel, Hawking declared:
We are each free to believe what we want and it is my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realisation. There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that, I am extremely grateful.[SUP][321][/SUP][SUP][322][/SUP]
In September 2014 he joined the Starmus Festival as keynote speaker and declared himself an atheist.[SUP][323][/SUP] In an interview with El Mundo, he commented:
Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation. What I meant by 'we would know the mind of God' is, we would know everything that God would know, if there were a God, which there isn't. I'm an atheist.[SUP][324][/SUP]

There are a lot of grey areas the Bible doesn't cover. There are instances each day where people die in parts of the world where they have no access to the Bible and never heard of Jesus or the concept of sin, Heaven, and hell. It's one thing to reject a concept after it's presented. To punish someone for not even knowing a concept exists, though, goes against the love, grace, and mercy of God. Again, grey areas. That is why there is speculation, and none of us know for sure what happens when a person takes his/her final breath. People are unable to talk/move any part of their body, but their minds are still sharp. The Bible does say to honor God with our minds. Grey areas. Grey areas. Grey areas. Did I mention there are grey areas?
You think God isn't omnipresent? You think he isn't omnipotent? You think he doesn't reach every single person he has chosen? You think it's up to us, because he can't? Do you even go with that IRL? If your god is so ineffective why aren't you busy telling everyone you meet about him just in case?

There is NO gray! God is sovereign, with or without us. Jesus promised, "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." You are obviously gray.

The Lord is not!

As for unjust punishment? You think way too little about your sin. God says all have sinned and fallen short. The just punishment is separation from God, death, and hell.

I HATE THE MEDIOCRE MODERN CHRSITIANESE FAKE GOSPEL!

I mean... to deny Christians have different interpretations would be to deny there aren't multiple denominations. You clearly read at least part of my post in response to your question, but did you not read the examples I gave which illustrate my point? Can you really say it's a "copout" to say one Christian can read a passage and get something entirely different than another?

The clear copout is as I said earlier... Telling someone who disagrees with your interpretation (whether you're right or wrong) that they are an antichrist or that they don't believe in the bible. Even if the other person is in error and you are the correct one, you don't know the other person's heart. Being "mistaken" is not rebellion towards God or God's word. "Mistaken" and "deceit" are not synonymous no matter how much someone wants it to be.
Yeah, let's try this.

I read "clear copout" from what you said.

Hmmm, clear copout. What's that look like? I'm seeing a policeman outside, and he's made of 100% clean water, so he's clear. Clear. Cop. Out.

Must be right because that's how I interpreted. So, I've got truth because I can imagine a see-thru cop walking the beat? Orrrrr, maybe, just maybe, is it possible that even though I interpreted that the way I could from the words, I interpreted wrong?

Now, if I took that same phrase and including the context of what you were saying, I would not have come up with that "interpretation."

Funny like that, isn't it? A basic principle of (real) Semantics, that works in everyday life, and yet, even as supposedly "Christians," it is beyond some people's comprehension that the Bible does the very same thing, and even more so, since the words were truly inspired by God.

Moral of story: Taking God's word in context and taking the whole Bible as one big message by God -- everything he would have us know -- brings correct interpretation.

Otherwise we're just playing at making it say whatever we want it to say -- no mistake. It's a game.

You didn't have any knowledge of God until someone told you about Him. God is everywhere, yes. However, that doesn't mean everyone knows who God is. If the latter was the case, why does the Bible instruct to make all nations hear His name? That sounds redundant.
Romans 1 is saying your wrong.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[g] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

As I stated earlier, people with severe mental health issues aren't competent enough to stand trial. Not to mention the fact they can't understand the concept sin and the Gospel. If you're going to cherry pick, try to do a better job next time and read more than one partial post.
You say a lot of things. Very little of which lines up with what God says.

Try Constantine and the RCC circa: Council of Nicea 325 AD. The Papacy became so apostate they had an illegitimate (bastard) Pope. Corrupted the scriptures and sold forgiveness for sins. Along came the Protestant Reform: They carry on with most of the Catholic dogma. We are throwing off all that error and we let the HS interpret scripture.

It was considered a curse by the Jewish people of Christ's time to have your body burned in the city dump (Gehenna). Only derelicts, thieves and murderers had that to happen. Think of it as a disgrace to one's name or memory.
Yeah, you might want to stop studying the RCC's version of history, and try the real history. Constantine wasn't Catholic. He may well be the beginning roots of Catholicism, but it's kind of like trying to find out who started Pentacostalism. Just something that came out of a bunch of people believing the same way.

Oh, and just to be clear, Luther didn't start Protestant either. He actually just wanted the RCC to think over indulgences. He wanted to begin a discussion about it with his brothers. It's just that something happened to his 95 Theses that caused a riff instead of unity.

And as far as Gehenna goes? Truthfully, no one was "burned" at death. It's just that if you couldn't afford the burial there was no choice but to throw the body in the dump. Have you ever composted in vast quantities, including meat and bones? If you don't turn the pile over, the heat of decomposition will start a fire. Sure, composters turn their pile to avoid the fire, but who is going to spend their time turning over a large city's dump? That's why Gehenna was burning. No one set fire to any bodies.

Funny thing here. You think everyone else is caught up in traditions, but you seem to have fallen for quite a lot of traditions yourself by who you read.

Fun stuff. Try reading up on the Early Fathers/early centuries of church history. There are just as many miracles happening along the way then as when Jesus lived on earth, but the miracles happening were more about preserving God's word to form the Bible, then giving sight to the blind. It truly is cool stuff to read.

I'm particularly amazed how the Lord worked stuff out to get to the point where we have a Bible. You think Nicaea was the beginning of evil? I see it as the ending of it and the bringing of God's united word -- the Bible. True it lead to other things that weren't good, but without it, we could well be thinking Jesus didn't ascend again after all. He got married to Mary Magdelene and moved to Gaul and raised a family. lol

Honey, I'm a grownup. And in being a grownup, I read and study, and stuff like that. It's something to do other then read from "theologians" who agree with what I want to believe.

Try it. You can find out all you want about Hawkings, including his anger toward God.

And then take a step into being a grownup all by yourself and read what I wrote. No where have I said he's in hell.

(I am so glad I know enough young people that I don't think you represent what it is to be 20. I know plenty of people even younger than you with more maturity than you. You really need to learn how to be a grown up. All you've done on this thread is show forth YOUR hate.)

You have been faithful with little. You will now receive abundance to continue the work your heart longs to do. Thank you for serving Our God.
