Because Jesus told us to. All the apostles taught it, and we assume did it themselves. We KNOW Paul did it, immediately upon regaining his sight. We know that pretty much ALL of Christianity did it, up until somewhere during the "restoration", when someone decided that everyone up until that point had been wrong.

It is our physical showing of our following Jesus... it is our "death, burial, and resurrection" to become a new creation.

Oh, and, according to Peter, when we are baptized, we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit....
You didn't see where Peter "REPENTED" for "FORGETTING" what Jesus said when HE "fulfilled" water baptism?

I don't see where the thief on the cross was water baptized? "GOD is no respecter of persons!" You mean HE treats us differently?

that silly ol' Paul. I guess that being qualified/chosen to study under Gamaliel really doesn't mean that he was smart....

Good ol' forgetful Paul.

Did I say "Paul?"

IT WAS "PETER" WHO "FORGOT" (ACTS 11:15-16)!

I sure don't see any "scripture" where the thief on the cross was water baptized. God treats us differently?
I sure don't see any "scripture" where the thief on the cross was not water baptized. But of course I am not a prophet like you.

Peter answered them, "All of you must turn to God and change the way you think and act, and each of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins will be forgiven. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit as a gift

That's why.
YOU DON'T SEE WHERE PETER "FORGOT" (ACTS 11:15-16)? I DON'T SEE WHERE THE THIEF WAS WATER BAPTIZED! GOD TREATS US DIFFERENTLY?

BUT YOU PROVE YOURSELF TO BE "SATAN" (JN 8:44) WITH NO SCRIPTURE FOR "PROOF" (II TIM 3:16)!

Yes I agree.

For me it's a spiritual marker in a belivers life.

In the early church you confessed you were baptised.
No big show or testimony.

For me today that causes an issue.

Have to stand up and give a big testimony.

I also think that the church today places a burden on baptism.

That burden being, stop sinning.

"STANDING UP BEFORE "MEN" GIVING A "CONFESSION" IS REQUIRED OF "MEN" SO THEY CAN TALK ABOUT YOU. GOD "LOOKS AT HEARTS" (I SAMUEL 16:7) AND GIVES THE "FREE GIFT" (ACTS 11:15-16)!

[SUP]15 [/SUP]And as I began to preach, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as he did on us at the beginning. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Then I remembered the words of the Lord, how he said John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

There is the verse, point out the words "repented" and "forgetting".

I made a joke which you did not understand

I said something about Paul and not even in reference to you

are you paranoid?

THAT'S ALL YOU CAN DO "JUDGE" (MATT 7:1) BECAUSE YOU SURE DON'T HAVE "TRUTH" (I COR 3:1-3)!

may I suggest an aluminum cap?

I hear they are all the rage in conspiracy circles

and I would also recommend the conspiracy forum for your conjectures

I don't see where the thief on the cross was water baptized? "GOD is no respecter of persons!" You mean HE treats us differently?
I don't think you actually believe that

I mean here you think you are a prophet and VERY special with dreams and new revelations

I don't claim that and neither is anyone else here but you

so, you might say God is no respecter of persons, but you don't really believe it

thing is, it is actually true and not a convenient thing for you to repeat when it suits you
