I believe that you have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. The law of works will not save you eternally, neither will the gospel save you eternally, however, by coming unto a knowledge of ot it will deliver you as you sojourn here in this world Salvation=deliverance. We are eternally delivered one time, and the child of God is delivered many times as he lives here in this world, by following God's commandments.

If you never learn to separate the salvation scriptures, they will tend to teach salvation is accomplished by your good works., and that is a false doctrine.
“I believe that you have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.”

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1, 9-10, 14, 16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:12-13, 31-32, 51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’ll stick with faith in Jesus and what he has to say and promise I’m not looking for a “grace erase “ of my Lord and saviors word. You should consider what Jesus Christ says about being saved he’s much wiser than you or I

Re: We are saved by grace not works, so why are we to be judged by
Christ?

Masochism can be roughly defined as deriving gratification from being
subjected to physical pain or humiliation by one's own self and/or by
another person. i.e. pleasure in being abused or dominated, viz; a taste for
suffering.

It's been my experience that there are numbers of Christians at large whose
spiritual ideology is an amalgam of grace and punishment. There is no use in
attempting to talk them out of it because it isn't in their nature to be
satisfied with kindness while at the core of their being longing for the lash.

Sweet dreams are made of this,
Who am I to disagree?
I've traveled the world and the seven seas,
Everybody's lookin' for something.

Some of them want to use you,
Some of them want to get used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you,
Some of them want to be abused.

God's born-again children are judged according to their works in Heaven after the rapture. They are not judged at the Great White Throne Judgement. Only the wicked are judged at the Great White Throne Judgement.

Scripture would be helpful.

“For salvation. Faith is required for Salvation. Confession and repentance are related to faith, not good works.”

“What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
‭‭James‬ ‭2:14-18, 21-24, 26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Wise brother oyster , your offering a Symantec’s argument “ is it chicken or the egg which comes first faith is when you hear Gods word and accept what he’s saying then you know what to do like this

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, ( he told him about the flood and how to build the ark and Noah believed him Noah knew he would be saved now if he did what God said would save him so)
moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Noah was saved by faith , but if Noah had said “ I believe what you are saying I have faith , I don’t need to do it what you saying to be saved lord I’m saved by faith “

what would happen to Noah and his family if he tried to separate what God told him to do that would save him from salvation ?

Consider the examples of faith were given in the only full chapter dedicated to explaining the principle of faith

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

consider the revelation and testimony of Jesus Christ Our Lord

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Consider Jesus warnings in the gospel about bad works and judgement

“The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:41-43‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and good works and judgement

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me… And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. …Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:34-36, 40-43, 45-46‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s never any different for anyone Christian’s can have thier sins remitted “ good works are always found when we care about someone as much as we do our own self and they shouldn’t be seen as works truthfully if you love people your actions will tell the true story you’ll do good for them especially those in need

Faith is a seed when You hear Gods word and if it roots it grows into an action , a way

when we start hearing the word because it’s full of faith to those who will let it in

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If anytime someone says “ we really do need to actually obey Jesus and the gospel , someone says “ we’re saved by grace not works we don’t need to do anything “ we’re sort of not really grasping faith in my own opinion

“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We can’t seperate hearing and believing what Jesus said from faith is my point . And he actually does teach believers to do good because they care about other people and says it’s very important not to just say things but to actually do them

he says there’s a lot we need to stop doing and a lot we need to learn about doing he’s says that and says hear it believe me trust me and you’ll be saved

If we start listening to what the lord says about salvation in the gospel it makes perfect sense

If we start to rightly divide our eternal deliverance from our many timely deliverances we receive, as we sojourn here on earth, it makes the difference in believing eternal deliverance by our works, and believing eternal deliverance by God's sovereign grace, and not depending on our works.

Have you considered who the "us" is? It is those that have an "unction from God" (Chapter 2, verse 20-21), It is those who are (born) "of God" verse 19. They are also called "his little children (Chapter 2, verse 1).

I guess the audience to whom James is writing had not received the word and their souls were not saved.
James is preaching the truth of gospel

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46-49‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So James summarizes that point

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The same thing the lord said from heaven before he came and fulfilled it

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we refuse to hear the gospel there’s nothing that’s going to save us we have to accept the truth a couple sentences before that James says this

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:17-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hes talking about accepting what Jesus was sent to earth to speak in the gospel

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we won’t hear his word we can’t be born again , and when we start hearing his word we’re going to be taught by God what to believe and what to do and not do

A faith is when you hear what God says will save you or bless you and you believe what he said

This will always lead a man to do it because he believes it’s true if I want to be saved by faith I have to hear what Jesus said about salvation in the gospel and not excuse myself from accepting it

You seem to be big on “ who something is for “ the gospel Jesus preached is for these people

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s salvation hearing the gospel and believing what God said will save a believer , belief of Gods word is always going to save man without fail and rejecting his word will always condemn man without fail

This is off the subject but I think it's something that needs saying from time
to time.

Internet forums have given many of Christ's obscure followers a convenient
venue for sharing their time-won knowledge and experience with a
worldwide audience. For the world's sake (if not Christ's) I highly
recommend making an effort to compose legible posts; neatly arranged,
sensible, coherent, and tidy.

Excessive bolding, underscoring, and italics, lack of adequate paragraphing,
twitter spelling, unnecessary emogies, horrible grammar, confusing mixtures
of fonts and colors, and/or shouting with caps and oversize letters, makes
for tiresome clutter and annoying graffiti that leave a bad impression.

Some people's posts resemble the obnoxious placards of worked-up
protesters and political activists; yelling, shrieking, and sometimes even
spraying spittle. They are beyond reason and objectivity in their desperation
to be taken seriously. Apparently they assume that if only they shout loud
enough, make themselves irritating enough, and hold out long enough;
maybe they'll get their point across and somebody will finally listen.

I rather suspect that some people regard forums as a canvas for painting
their comments instead of composing them. Well; that might be okay for
outsiders, they can scrawl and splash and be as messy as they want because
their comments don't matter anyway. But for those of us who honestly
believe ourselves to be representing God's son; that kind of penmanship is
unacceptable because it reflects on Christ and makes him look like his
followers are desperate kooks.

Phil 1:27 . . Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of
Christ.

Nope I have considered who Jesus is and I trust that he’s the one to believe in

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

i don’t ever try to out think what God said and reason why it’s not true of relevant to everlasting life

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a I don’t have any reason to fear Gods word promising everlasting life so I don’t interpret everything away from whats there I am foolish enough to believe in Jesus and trust what he said will save anyone that believes and sent to all creatures in earth to believe and be saved

I don’t pretend that I’m going to figure out how to be saved because I know the savior and what he said and I believe him

so no I don’t play the shell game

There are six different types of "salvations" taught in the Bible.

Not understanding this, and not teaching it, is the reason we still have these questions.

James is speaking to his beloved brethren (verse 19) informing them that having a knowledge of the gospel can deliver them here in this life, not to deliver them eternally.
yeah another magical grace interpretation

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

…. in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to the gospel.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:6-9, 16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a that’s not about salvation either by the grace wand I guess

“unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil,”

If that’s salvstion no thanks I’d rather shoot for this

to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

We Christian’s should be Teaching six different salvations to each other ?

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned. ( it seems like that’s an either or proposition )
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‭KJV‬‬

I’m not really sure about Six different salvations being taught but would like to hear your thinking brother

My position is there’s only one salvation offered of God to Mankind and it’s found in the gospel

To clarify: there are not six ways to be saved to go to heaven.

There are six things we are saved from. All are applicable to the believer. But only one is "saved for eternal life".
