follow me on this... I believe weed wasn't meant for smoking, because ANY kind of smoke in your lungs is bad. but we as humans, always find a way to pervert what God's created.. (just saying if you disagree with me on this, then go through your cabinet, because there's lots of things that can get a person high.) NUTMEG, can get a person high, if they smoke it,, but yet, it's used in food.I believe weed, was meant to be used in medicine, or even eaten, it is proven if eaten, it won't harm you. I personally wouldn't do any of it. BUT it's just a way of looking at things. (I am not condoning weed at all)

Do you think this grieves the Holy Spirit? Do you think it's a sin? Sometimes I smoke weed and it makes me think about God and the world, rather than becoming mindless.
Do what you want dude. The bible is silent on the subject. Although for your overall health I would recommend moderation.

Its all in your head buddy, If the good lord wanted you to abstain from cannabis he woud have mentioned it 774,746 or so words in the Bible. If you want to reward your overly sensitive conscious and give it up by all means and perhaps you also had legitimate reasons to quit, regardless It isn't a spiritual issue and to make it one without backing from scripture wrong.

not that I don't respect words of wisdom from a teenager. But my point is that I feel my personal relationship with the Lord has increased dramatically after laying down the bong.

My age doesn't effect whether or not what I said is correct. "I feel my personal relationship with the Lord has increased dramatically after laying down the bong" I might "feel" that my algebra scores went up when I stopped eating celery, doesn't mean that the cause I'm assigning to it is the real agent of change. All I'm suggesting is for people to withhold moral judgments about something which the bible is silent.

<< Isaiah 8 >>
New International VersionFear God
11The Lord spoke to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people. He said:
12“Do not call conspiracy
everything that these people call conspiracyf;
do not fear what they fear,
and do not dread it.
13The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy,
he is the one you are to fear,
he is the one you are to dread,
14and he will be a sanctuary;
but for both houses of Israel he will be
a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.
And for the people of Jerusalem he will be
a trap and a snare.
15Many of them will stumble;
they will fall and be broken,
they will be snared and captured.”
16Bind up the testimony
and seal up the law among my disciples.
17I will wait for the Lord,
who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob.
I will put my trust in him.

What does he mean by "both" houses of Israel? Curious.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

there is the scripture back up. God wants us to look after our bodies.

That is true. And sometimes the best way to take care of one's body is to take medication. Sometimes that medication, as prescribed by a doctor, who was given his skills to heal by God, is in the form that for purely political reasons, and not for safety reasons, is illegal according to man's law, not God's. So we have to choose between following man's law, and allowing the body -- His temple -- to suffer, or breaking man's law, and allowing the medication God gave us to heal it.

Which do you think God would want?

I am not saying this is always the case. Yes, I am sure that more than half of the time people smoke pot it is purely for recreational, not medical use. And that is wrong. My point is that to say it is ALWAYS wrong is missing the fact that there are people who really need the drug, and they're not getting it because it is illegal, just because those who are making a profit off of its illegal sale are buying politicians to keep it illegal. That's certainly not what God wants.

Its medicinal use doesn't need to be inhaled through burning it.
In some ways I agree with you about the politics but the fact is it is very bad for your health. So if you treat your body as a temple don't be smoking anything.

If I could get it by not smoking it, I would. Unfortunately, it's not available in non-smoking form.

I have been plagued by migraines pretty much my whole life. I have a series of prescription medications I take for them. There's a daily Rx I take that is supposed to minimize their frequency and severity (and actually seems to ... when I went off it I got them worse and more often). When I do get the migraines, I take Tylenol, then one Rx, then a 2nd. If the 2nd doesn't do it.... 2 weeks ago, I had taken all the prescriptions I had, and it didn't go away. I started puking the pain was so bad. After I emptied the contents of my stomach so that I was just dry heaving, I went to the ER. They gave me something and sent me home. I went to bed, but when I woke up, the migraine was back, as well as the nausea.

A friend of mine had some pot, so I smoked some. It actually was the only thing that made me feel better.

Tell me honestly that you think God would have rather had me suffer, possibly die of a stroke from a swollen brain, than smoke that one hit of pot.

And if you honestly believe that, your god is a sick, sadistic creature, and not worthy of praise or worship. The God I worship is not like that.

I don't like the fact that my friend smokes pot for recreation. And he and I have had talks about that. But if he didn't, he wouldn't have had any on him 2 weeks ago, and who knows what would have happened to me. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Have you ever eaten a doughnut, neglected your vegetables, drank a coke or perhaps had red meat over white meat or fish? He who is without sin cast the first stone.
