I assume by yesteryyear you mean those who are dead.

Leonard Ravenhill is the only one I have had much encounter with. I am so glad he was one of the first preachers I listened to when beginning this whirlwind of adventure. I have a good impression of A. W. Pink. I have barely any familiarity with Spurgeon, but I like what I've seen.

Of the living:
Paul Washer
James White
Alistair Begg
Ravi Zacharias
John Piper
Albert Mohler Jr. (President of Southern Seminary)

I hope to learn more about J. C. Ryle.

Alistair Beggs the man:cool:brilliant communicator.

I shouldn't have to post this, since it would be obvious to most active users here, and besides I've always had my reservations for this favo thingy (though I never denied the fact that we all have 'em) but I'll do it for the sake of some newcomer who might wonder about my whereabouts.

Sometimes, I prefer to not listen to theology, and have a good life application sermon. Alistair Begg is definitely my man for that. I love how he rolls.

Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Psalm 100

3 Know that the Lord is God indeed; Without our aid he did us make: We are his flock, he doth us feed, And for his sheep he doth us take. 4 O enter then his gates with praise, Approach with joy his courts unto: Praise, laud, and bless his name always, For it is seemly so to do. 5 For why? the Lord our God is good, His mercy is for ever sure; His truth at all times firmly stood, And shall from age to age endure.

List at least 3 of your favorite pastor/teacher/theologians from yesteryear. (do not include writers/teachers in the bible itself)
Why do I ask? It helps us to get a rough idea where each is coming from.

Mine are in no particular order...
Martyn Lloyd Jones
Martin Luther (not King)
Charles Spurgeon.
Buddha
Ghandi
Guru Nanak
Yogi Bhajan
Rabbi Steven Blane
Rabbi Moshe Ben Maimon
Karl Rahner
Shoghi Effendi

(Jesus Christ) hehe.

Although I don't believe absolutely everything these individuals talk about (apart from one), I believe they all desired peace and love amongst human beings, through the realisation of compassion, mercy, forgiveness, understanding, patience, hope, love, joy, charity, meekness, restraint and understanding. And that is something very, very dear to me, something I always desire.

Nice thought, but not unless
God's will is done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Which won't happen on this earth...

Apologies, Crossnote, for the ADD :)

Right now, for me it's Luther and Luther and Luther.

Amazing I got this far without reading his writings,
and thank God for them.

you can borrow my boy-having-a-tantrum pic

Don't you want to scoop up that little one and cuddle him and remind him that 'the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God'?

I know I needed to be reminded of that this morning...

I do love you, my sister zone. ♥

I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.[SUP]9 [/SUP]Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For
Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
[SUP]11 [/SUP]let him turn away from evil and do good;

let him seek peace and pursue it.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

[SUP]13 [/SUP]Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? [SUP]14 [/SUP]But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,[SUP]15 [/SUP]but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, [SUP]16 [/SUP]having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. [SUP]17 [/SUP]For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil

I hope we both can behave this way Zone. My hope is great, for all, including you.
