Heya everyone.

Purely out of time constraints and convenience, I've started shopping for groceries online.

There's a gas station a few blocks from my home and they sell frozen hamburger, onions, lettuce, milk, bread and eggs, but not much else.

I also have a crock pot.

Anyway, I was hoping for any recipes that would work on this.

Perhaps something on how to make chili, maybe stuff that goes good with tuna fish, or any other possible ideas.

Keep in mind that everything besides from what is offered at the gas station will be either dry goods, seasonings and spices, or canned food.

I've Googled "best dry food products" and all I get is page after page results of dog food. :(

I would love any suggestions on what to purchase online along with what can be done with them.

Please and thank you.

Thanks.

I was really hoping for a Chili recipe with only canned products, spices, sauces, and other junk that can go good with hamburger that I would then put into a crock pot.

I tried this for Mac and Cheese:

The milk would bubble and boil over like crazy, burn black on the bottom of my frying pan, and not even cook the noodles correctly where they were soft.

I think I need a wife. :(

If you can boil water, you can easily cook a fabulous meal.

Just boil 1 or 2 quarts of water
turn down the heat to medium
add cube or soup starter [keep pan covered]
add chicken pieces (I always soak meat in water-vinegar just to wash off any dirt or whatever)
after 20 minutes add rice
after another 20 minutes add green veggies

I always top my soups with Italian salad dressing, olive oil, and Parmesan or Romano cheese

There are countless videos on you tube which show you how to cook. Cooking is my hobby and I know for a fact that many of these videos are excellent. :)

Hi Addison,

An easy way to cook chilli (con carne) is as follows:

1) Chop up the 2 - 3 onions
2) Open one can of diced tomatos
3) Open one can of kidney beans
4) Have a bottle of chilli/tobasco sauce ready
5) Next: Put a frying pan on the stove with about 3 table spoons of sunflower oil in it (NOT canola - that is cancer forming)
6) Turn up the heat to about medium
7) Fry the onion till golden and see through
8) Add the hamburger meat (perferably defrost it in the microwave for about 10 minutes first)
9) Squish the hamburger meat so that it is not just one hunk of meat but becomes more like mince meat
10) Cook meat till it it is no longer pink but brown ( rare meat is full of parasites)
11) Add the kidney beans and canned tomatos, stir through
12) Add chilli sauce to taste as well as a moderate amount of salt and pepper.

And ...you're done!
Serve with a slice or two of wholemeal bread and a bit of lettuce....it's easier than you think and the whole process should take about half and hour to 40 minutes.Enjoy!

If you google and keep getting same-themed results that aren't what you want, then google the same phrase used before, add a space then a hyphen (the minus sign) with the word you don't want on the results.

In this case, Google this:
best dry food product -dog

You then get results that don't have anything to do with the word "dog." You're really telling it I want to know about dry food products not related to dogs/dog food.

And, if that gets you other funky results, keep adding the other words you don't want in your results in the same way you didn't want dog in it, by minus-signing those words too.

And, if they go off and think you really want "dry products," then put in quotes the full phrase you want, ("dry food products" or just "dry food"), so they get those words have to go together.

There is an art to googling stuff. I'm a lousy cook, but I know how to google. lol

truly friends,

how hard is it to eat 'healthy' as opposed to 'unhealthy'???

we all will eventually come to an age that we just 'know-better' BUT follow our own
desires to satisfy ourselves at ANY cost...where do we draw the line and go for broke
and opt to respect and resurrect our TEMPLES?????

For an easy chili con carne (meaty chili) recipe you would need

1 lb of ground beef cooked and drained.
1 package of chili mix, or taco mix can work or combine cayene pepper, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic poweder, onion powder, cumin to taste about 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp per season that you may have. I've even used some Italian seasoning, sage, oregano too.
1/2 cup of onion chopped
3 to 4 cloves of garlic or less.
1 or more diced Jalapenos or serranos (optional)
1 can of tomatoes either crushed, diced or just plain sauce will do and I've used a can of spaghetti sauce as well it's just fine.
1 1/2 cups of water. and more water if needed
1 package of brown gravy mix
optional you can add some corn meal to help stretch the amount of chili and you can add in some pre-cooked pinto beans or red kidney beans either from a can or some you had made already and this helps stretch the amount.

Simply cook the onions and garlic and then add the cooked beef, add the seasonings and the tomatoes. mix in the brown gravy in with the water and add it to the pan and simmer until it's the right consistency for you.

Gourmet Tuna Fish

Add chopped pickles, onions, tomatoes and lettuce I like to put black pepper and salt on my sandwiches.

if the chili is too spicy, add avocado to reduce the spiciness and add much flavor
