I just got over a cold by doubling up on Vitamin C supplements. Even better if you can buy organic.

Interesting. Never heard that before. Please tell more. When was this "long time ago"?

When I feel a cold coming I usually buy a lot of OJ and pretty much drink it all. Usually get rid of colds pretty quick this way.

Problem is: Science has found no proof that vitamin C cures a cold.

It MIGHT work as a "buffer" (if you eat vit C all the time, your immune system might work better)
How long did it take for this cold to disappear? Are you sure it didn't just end by itself? :)

Vitamin C boosts the immune system which in turn allows it to fight off the cold more easily.

All citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C. Oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit, to name a few.

I never said it cured the cold. If it cured it I would never get a cold again. It helps fight it and all I can tell you is that it works for me. When I feel a cold coming on I drink a lot of OJ and it is usually gone in a few days or it never fully comes to a full blown cold.

Science isn't going to try and prove anything natural because they can't patent natural cures.

Well, then I'm abnormal then (what I am saying, that's not news :p ) , because no amount of oranges, orange juice or supplements ever helped for my colds.

I didn't used to think it did anything for me either, but mega-doses just seemed to start doing wonders when I reached middle age. I'm talking 'shock-cure' kind of thing, right when I feel something coming on. I heard that it was not good to mix C with Zinc because they 'cancel' each other out.

yes indeed citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C, though oddly enough yellow bell peppers are at the top of the list. Also Dark Green leafy vegetables like, kale spinach broccoli Brussels sprouts peas tomatoes.

Years ago a client who I was helping had a drug problem. He was wealthy, and known in the community, although most did not know of his drug issues. So one night his wife calls me and says her husband is in a stupor, and fading fast. I had known the family for years. I urged her to hang up and call an ambulance. She steadfastly refused. She could not stand the thought of having him found out. Crazy, but true. Anyway, with time being a crucial factor, I rushed over to their house, and mixed Ascorbic Vit C, DMG, and L-Glutamine and made him drink large amounts for about 15 minutes. He came out of it and was okay. Thank God.
