Ginger beer

5 ml tartaric acid

Method

Make a syrup by boiling together 1 liter water, ground ginger and sugar for 15 minutes.
Place in a large container and add 4 liters water, raisins, cream of tartar and tartaric and yeast (if using).
Leave at room temperature until raisins have risen to the surface.
Pour into bottles, close securely and store in refrigerator.

Missy, thanks for posting this. Have you actually made this? Have you tried it with fresh ginger root? I can't wait to try it! Love ginger!

I rarely drink soda, but when I do, it's root beer. I like A&W and Mug, but I hate the Barq's brand.. Root beer keeps it's fizz pretty well, whereas orange, grape, mountain dew, etc, don't..
