Veganism

Hi guys.. I am trying to adapt new healthy eating habits and I came across veganism.. I've tried a couple of recipes here and there and it feels great to eat that way but I have found it difficult at times to stick with it because as a Latina there is always meat and tortillas around :-(. It's so hard not to crave it. Any tips? I would greatly appreciate it

depends how strict you are.... but ill give it a shot

get spinach

carrots

potatos

asparagus

garlic

artichokes

olive oil (or butter if you cheat at bein vegan)

cream cheese (assumin you a cheater still)

render the spinach down in olive oil (or butter)and finely minced garlic

once its all cooked and rendered strain the oil or butter and save it

coat the other veggies in the spinach garlic oil or butter salt and pepper and they will taste great if you bake em (cut em how you want em)

the garlic spinach can be used with cream cheese and artichokes for an artichoke dip when you mix it (great for pretzels)

You know I think it's great. I did try to go raw vegan and it was hard so I did more cooked foods. I atleast want to get to a point where I don't crave meat or fast foods. Thanks for the feedback.. do you usually cook your meals ? And are you still vegetarian?

Hi Vi,

Welcome to CC! Don't you normally have beans around too? I cook my beans in the slow cooker so that they become creamy and break down a bit making them like refried beans.

Preparation is key to eating differently from others. I always have soups or stir frys or casseroles in the freezer for those days that I'm not feeling well and need a quick meal in a hurry.

I drink green smoothies for breakfast. Salads are great for either lunch or supper. Do you have any specific questions?

i did the raw thing for a bit too... wasnt worth it to me

i was a cook for occupation for long time... i actually avoid cooking every chance i get nowa days

still do cook but id say half my food i prepare the other half i unwrap (work up to 80 hours a week)
no longer on a diet of any sort
but crave better foods after denying myself for awhile

i enjoy veggies now but far from vegetarian

Think of animals being led to their deaths, and being raised for the sole purpose of being eaten, and what we would think if we were in their shoes :)

lol I didnt mean nothing bad by it... But that does help for me. I have never eaten a lot of meat. And, well, that was the main reason. Seeing farming videos with cattle just makes me sad.
