Yipee! The summer fruit is here, in Australia!

Peaches, nectarines and plums $2 a kilo. Bananas $2, finally, after $14 since cyclone Yasi in March(?). Corn 9c a cob and rock mellons for 49c. Bought all these yesterday (except the peaches which I had last week when they came down to $4 a kilo.) Yipee! Slurp! Slurp! Crunch, crunch, crunch.

(Why do people put fruit in the fridge, and pull it out with all the flavour destroyed? And this includes all the melons and berries, which includes tomatoes?)

It is a mystery.
