Has anyone out there found the best diet for helping control cancer? I have read that broccoli sprouts has the best chemical to fight cancer, and there is a nutrient in any red food that helps. Any suggestions?

Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. Cancerous cells are also called malignant cells. Symptoms of cancer depend on the type and location of the cancer. For example, lung cancer can cause coughing,

Turmeric. There is a doctor who has been touting for years that turmeric stops cancer in the body and just a couple years ago The American Cancer Society acknowledged evidence for turmeric as a possible cancer-fighting substance (see link below). The doctor's patients reported shrinking tumors and things like that and the doctor was not selling anything. I wish I had jotted down his name. Anyway, if you google turmeric and cancer you should find a lot of info on it.

Another food that is supposed to fight cancer is blueberries.

RedTent: Thanks for posting.

Broccoli is supposed to be one of the best anti-cancer foods.

There's another "nutrient" that is also supposed to really help prevent or control cancer as well, but it's not food. It's sunlight. Which, I've read, is one reason why elderly people are more prone to cancer, because they typically don't get much sun.

Here's a really good book on the whole subject:

Amazon.com: Knockout: Interviews with Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer--And How to Prevent Getting It in the First Place (9780307587596): Suzanne Somers: Books

(It's mostly interviews with doctors who are having success treating some kinds of cancer without chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and all that. And they share a lot about prevention as well.)

Of course, I would want the broccoli (and whatever other anti-cancer foods) to be organic, or else it kinda defeats the purpose. (Well that's the way I see it.)

It isn't the brocolli itself that they say helps anti cancer, it is the sprouts. I did a cut and paste from John Hopkins.

JOHNS HOPKINS SCIENTISTS have found a new and highly concentrated source of sulforaphane, a compound they identified in 1992 that helps mobilize the body's natural cancer-fighting resources and reduces risk of developing cancer.
"Three-day-old broccoli sprouts consistently contain 20 to 50 times the amount of chemoprotective compounds found in mature broccoli heads, and may offer a simple, dietary means of chemically reducing cancer risk," says Paul Talalay, M.D., J.J. Abel Distinguished Service Professor of Pharmacology.

New studies show that vitamin D is reduced and even can eliminate cancer. Your body naturally makes vitamin D when you get in the sun light. If you don't get a enough sun, be sure to take some vitamin D.

Read this article:

Vitamin D Council > Health conditions > Cancer

1. Many studies have found solar ultraviolet-B (UVB) vitamin D associated with reduced risk of breast, colon, and rectal cancer.
2. A randomized controlled trial with 1100 IU/day vitamin D3 plus 1450 mg/day calcium found a 77% reduction in all-cancer incidence.
3.Geographical studies have found reduced risk in mortality rates for 15-20 types of cancer in regions of higher solar UVB doses.
4.Observational studies found risk of breast, colon, and rectal cancer falls as vitamin D blood levels rise to over 40 ng/mL (100 nmol/L).
5.Mechanisms have been proposed to explain how vitamin D acts to reduce the risk of cancer from starting, growing, and spreading.
6.Those who develop nonmelanoma skin cancer may have produced enough vitamin D to reduce their risk of internal cancers.
7.Those with higher vitamin D blood levels at time of cancer diagnosis had nearly twice the survival rate of those with the lowest levels.
8.African-Americans have an increased risk of cancer in part due to lower vitamin D blood levels because of darker skin.
9.Higher UVB exposure early in life has been found associated with reduced risk of breast and prostate cancer.
10.Those diagnosed with breast, colon and prostate cancer in summer in Norway had higher survival rates than those diagnosed in winter.

Teas are good for helping most health issues, as there are different kinds for different issues.

Green tea is a powerful antioxidant to help avoid and control cancer (some suggest 4 cups per day)
Cranberry Juice
Beets
Ginger
Spinach

Make sure you research the dosage for these because too much of something is not always a good thing. Like nothing but eating beets all week for example :)

My mother used to have rectal cancer, and she had a christian friend who offered her "4Life Immune Support" Medicine. It really helped, in fact she doesn't need to take it as often. The only reason why she took it was because those who supported the product were christian, and she believed it wasn't going to be something "fake".

For me I often take it in Emergency when I can't see a doctor for a sever cold, or eye problem. I noticed improvements after 3 days, but everyone's body is different.

I don't go about advertising non-sense, this is something that has worked for me and my mom, but it's expensive. She was lucky we got some free bottles from a friend.

P.S. Have you tried Xango juice? Though I don't know of any cancer benefits it's packed with antioxidants. I usually drink it when I get the first sign of a cold or illness, which usually disappears quickly after drinking it. It's from SE Asia.

The other name for it is laetrile.
