These are so clever and cute, but oh, it hurts.

God used pigs as a symbol of uncleanliness (they ate refuse then} for thosands of years, it was only after we received the Holy Spirit to truly know about cleanliness without the symbol that we eat pigs. But to use pigs on the day we celebrate the life we are given through His Son, the key to God's plan of salvation for us, feels to me like spitting in God's face for how He taught all those years. Hurts. Maybe it means that we celebrate knowing cleanliness without the symbol?

Yup. You can call them "Acts 10:15 Piggies"

Acts 10:15 - Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."

Guess we shouldn't eat anything shaped like a human either, since that would represent cannibalism. Down with the gingerbread men!!

OK, laugh away and it can be trivial, mountains out of molehills and all of that. I can see that. You can see pigs without relating them to scripture. In fact, you can see Easter dinner without relating it to Christ.

But think of it like this. Easter is about God, and included is "love your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind". That is where our mind is on this Easter. What we do, all of our actions, goes into this.

Pigs are in scripture. We are supposed to learn scripture and learn how God used pigs in scripture. We are even supposed to be able to do what God used pigs to represent without using the symbol of pigs. How can we do that if we just make fun of the whole idea?

1 Timothy 4:1-6

4 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. 5 For we know it is made acceptable by the word of God and prayer.

Thanks, Ugly, that is scripture. And I didn't say we couldn't eat pig on Easter. I was deep in prayer and thankfulness to God for everything about this time when I reacted so. God had used pigs to teach the Hebrews. I thought that using pigs that he had trained people with on the day we especially celebrate all of God couldn't be part of loving all that God had ever done for us. I wanted everything about that special time to reflect love of God, and to me that included even how He used pigs for our training in the years before Christ.
