since all the media fuss about the aluminum in deodorants causing alzheimer's and the more recent claims of deodorant caused breast cancer , i thought some might be interested in this.

HOMEMADE STICK DEODORANT you will need: 1 cup baking soda 1 cup cornstarch 8-10 tablespoons coconut oil an empty cardboard toilet paper tube a sandwich bag or plastic wrap and a blender make sure the soda has no clumps mix well with cornstarch add oil 1 tablespoon at a time til a thick, playdough like paste is formed. place paste in sandwich bag and insert into cardboard the with one end filled flush to the opening of the tube and the other end forming a small 'mound' at the other. refrigerate til hard. use as you would any stick deodorant pushing up more for use from the bottom as needed. this process only takes about 5 minutes . other starches which may be used are potatoe, tapioca, or arrowroot. the starch absorbs moisture and the other two ingredients kill odor causing agents.

Thank you! I am so going to try this -- I just opened a can of coconut oil this morning, and wondered what I was going to do with it!

Cool, never heard of this.

There was a lady on TV that was addicted to eating stick deodorant. Hope she gets the recipe!

Thanks for sharing this :) I'm excited to try it out and make some of this, and although entirely edible, I don't imagine I'd try eating some of it but if I'm hungry enough....well, probably not ... LOL. Thanks again for sharing :)

Been trying it for over a month now - - it works great!

I don't bother with the tube though. That just got oily and nasty. I put it in a jar and keep it in the bathroom and apply with good ol' fashioned fingers.
