Hi, I am a vegetarian. Saw some animal cruelty videos a few years ago and became a vegetarian instantly.

It's kind of like abortion, sometimes you have to see with your own eyes how violent and evil it is before you truly believe it in your heart.

I do eat eggs because I figure that it doesn't hurt the chicken in any way to lay an egg. I NEVER buy cage eggs though. I don't care how expensive the free range eggs are, I buy them. There's one brand here in Australia which claims that the chickens all roam free in a beautiful area, I think they even have a picture of the farm on the eggs casing. It's more expensive but SO worth it, I love supporting a business who are doing the moral and good thing.

Yes, I saw a documentary called 'earthlings' and I switched overnight. Its just awful what goes on and I know that the bible says we can eat certain meat but I don't think He ever intended it be done in this way. I gave up eggs because of the caged chickens :( and I don't like eggs enough to pay the extra money for the free range. Thanks for sharing! Its always great to talk to a fellow vegetarian :)

Coconut Milk IceCream is the bomb, acceptable for even the most strict vegans and it's truly healthy junk food. You can eat tons of that and never worry about getting fat

May I ask what is the reason you are a vegetarian? Is it for health reasons? Or spiritual beliefs? The Bible states that we may eat all things except blood, and we should call nothing unclean. It is your choice, but just wondering what the driving force behind it is.. health or faith?

After watching a documentary showing how animals are slaughter and used I literally cannot stomach meat anymore. I know that God said we can eat certain animals but I don't believe he is okay with us killing and torturing them the way they do. So I want no part of it.

Here in U.S. the term used for free range is only a demonstration by the producer that the animal has "some" time outside or not within a cage. It's very very loose interpretation. I'm glad you have a picture of the farm producing your eggs but here in U.S., I probably wouldn't trust such a claim. Also, a hen's productive egg laying life is only about 2 years while the average life span is 3 to 5 and I have a couple that are much older - a roo and hen that are both about 7 and I've heard of chickens as old as 12 or older. So when these productive chickens quiet laying "productively" or about 5 eggs a week or better, then they are processed into pet foods and/or other types of processing.

Super vegan here for health reasons... I eat nothing from an animal. I also eat no typical protein subs like soy products, beans, or other legumes.

Hi, I'm vegetarian and stopped eating fish and seafood last year but not quite a vegan as I still eat cheese and occasionally drink milk. I make avocado or mango soy shakes which are delicious. I've recently switched to flax seed milk (non-dairy and non-soy) which also work well.

Alas, I have no canned chilis, but I do have pepper jack cheese! :D

Ok here is my contribution on this :).

I have not eaten meat in years there was a time I was vegan.

But then I started back the dairy and the eggs and the fish as it was difficult to find things to eat.

But before returning to these things I used tofu the soft and firm.

Soft tofu - you can season it with onions add tomatos, sweet peppers etc and you can cook that like scrambled egg, you can also blend this up with vinegar etc and make a salad dressing, you can also use this in cake or other desserts.

Firm tofu - this you can season up like you would meat and you can cook it as such but what Ive loved to do is to bake it the texture is like meat seriously well more like chicken.

I have made eggless cakes, eggless muffins, eggless pancakes.

There is also a thing called foo chook (dried soya bean curd) it can be soaked and Ive heard can be fried like bacon Ive only seen it done this way I usually eat it with vegetables or in a soup.

If you are not a fan of soya or prefer not to use it you can use legumes.

I have made meat balls using lentil and chickpeas. I soaked and grounded them both. Added crumbs and seasonings and I rolled into balls and baked them. The texture was like meat :)

Thank you for that information. I have been a little scared to try tofu recipes because I'm a new vegetarian. But I eat fish and eggs and I want to faze that out.
