I have occasionally made ice cream out of bananas and raspberry, you blend it together, whip it and freeze it. It's good. I know fruit has sugar but come on it's bananas and raspberries. Raspberries from my yard and bananas from somewhere. I live in Pennsylvania, not the best banana growing conditions.

but you do not have the right to falsely accuse me

Nor do you.

to shut a member down on their understanding of any subject matter
is what is wrong.

I agree ;)

If I've got a subject matter or personal claims to address I will reply as I see appropriate.

Me, too! Man, you and I have so much in common :D

If you have any concerns about me or my posts, I encourage you to see a moderator or the owner who can illustrate to me themselves how I'm breaking any rules.
Gladly!

My point in this is....you are doing exactly what you are mad at us about.

I love health. I love fitness. That isn't going to change. Sorry!

Just because you read on it doesn't mean I didn't. Like you, I also know a lot about health. But, because of our different beliefs in what we should eat, we differ. The difference between you and I is....I don't care what you do with your life in health. But, you are getting so worked up over mine. We can just agree to disagree :)

Also......

i'm reminded of when paul said everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.

i was overweight. then one day, i started making better choices. i've lost 31 lbs. i didn't deprive myself of the foods i like. i still have pizza, fried chicken (hahahaha i typed friend instead of fried at first), and burgers, but i don't have it all.the.time. moderation is key :D

i'm still considered overweight, but i'm still aiming for healthy :D

All I know it that I'm in pretty good shape, that I had meat and dairy when I was losing weight, and I'm having it putting on muscle and good weight. And I would question anyone that told me not to lol. It's also common knowledge that certain professional athletes have lost energy and become injury prone after going away from those things(Hello, Arian Foster).

I've talked to shineyourlight many times in the past about fitness, etc. and seen her offer advice to others and it's always been good advice that pointed toward a healthy lifestyle. Maybe not the lifestyle others choose for themselves, but still a healthy one.

Yes! I luv frozen yogurt as much as I luv ice cream, but both have sugar. Soooo... there's that. :p
There's yogurt with less (or no) sugar, is there not? I was long been trying to locate some previous posts on someone making yogurt (wwjd? or someone else). Yogurt is one food i did not know about while growing up, but when i learned to eat it, i wish we could afford it more. So i learned to make, and how simple it is to make after all.. its the waiting time that takes a while.. some say 4 hr, others overnight. To make it simple, i stive to make at night to leave to grow and put away in the ref in the morning. The others of course like it w/ sugar, so i let them mix or add as they want, but i minimize my own sugar or put in some fresh fruit. That way, i dont feed the bad bac, as others say we do when eat too much sweets.

If you're interested in considering a substitute for ice cream, I'd recommend something almond milk based or as another alternative an ethical and 100% healthy choice to what you would normally consume is 'wot no dairy'. It is Dairy, gluten, soy and nut free – based on pea protein. It is sweetened with apple juice with no added cane or beet sugar. That should put you onto a good start. God speed.
i love almonds, if they were more accessible and affordable here... i have in fact tried almond milk, but honestly i could perhaps make that in a blue moon. in fact i wanted to ask others if any have tried to make yogurt w/ it, for those who cannot eat dairy for some reasons. altho to me personally, almonds are not that easy to get and use, just as coconut in all its stages, are. i mean, i hear coconut milk is drank by other ppl in asian countries, for example, but i did not know abt that for a long, long time. i thot it was just for cooking=). then i see more and more recipes of flans and custards w/ coconut milk instead of milk, so i see ppl are doing it.
as to milk, i only remember there is a passage abt goat's milk in Scripture, and would i buy that too if we could. but goat milk producers here are so few, like the nuns who produce pastillas, ube (purple yam) and other sweets. good for those with their own animals cared for at home so they can procure their own fresh milk w/o worrying if they were grass fed or what.

Healthy Choice makes a good frozen yogurt. I don't know the sugar content though. I can eat Dole Whip and yogurt without the stomach pain. Dole is non dairy so if we go to an ice cream stand sometimes I'll get it. Truth be told I don't like ice cream that much. When I had my surgery and they told me I wouldn't be able to eat ice cream anymore, I didn't care. About a year after w were out and I got this tiny kiddie cup I ate about half of it and got really sick, that did it, no ice cream, not worth it.

I've talked to other bariatric patients and a few of them had the same reaction. I can have a few bites of pasta but more than a couple of bites and it hurts, same with bread. I don't miss either one though. You stop craving it and that's good, it is for me anyhow.

Almond milk is a fantastic alternative to dairy. In the past i've used 'Inside Out', I highly recommend it. If you have any issues getting your hands on some, I'm happy to send a few over for you to try. If you're after a source of protein, I would go for straight up unadulterated almonds though, I always keep our house stocked up. It's a great snack.

nice, thanks laura. that wud be nice, but u dont have to. sometimes we do have various nuts at the same time, but the guys wud often consume when fried, roasted, boiled (peanuts) as if there wasnt some if its raw almonds or walnuts, for ex. it is nice to stock up, but i often have to find a way to incorporate in othr cooking so theyd be eaten-). even raisins are ignored, when i was glad enough with a box of sunmaid when we were in school n there was no othr snack.

I've been tested for gluten allergy, along with every allergy (food and otherwise) under the sun. I've tried no dairy, Fodmap, paleo, and vegitarian diets. My dads side of the family all have thyroid and stomach issues (grandad died of stomach cancer)
my one redeeming generic quality is a gene abnormality in my pcsk9 gene. Simply put, my body filters out all cholesterol 24/7
my bad cholesterol was 20, and the avarage level is around 90

i totally get that you want to help and I appreciate that :) my doctors (specialists and naturapath) have done everything they can at this point. I just try to take good care of myself and trust God with the rest

If people would like to bicker about the social responsibility of food and it's sourcing, go set that soapbox up someplace else. That's a different topic from what is being discussed here. This thread would move along just fine without all the social justice warrior garbage clogging it up.

Now by all means, please fire back at me with all the venom I've come to expect from a large swath of the membership here. Otherwise...shhh.
Actually YIG, it is related to obesity. We're stripping to the planet to make us fat. So it is the subject of the OP. Why? Because it is a physchological issue more then a physiological issue. So if you have the mentality to abuse our home, then you will be more prone to neglect and abuse yourself.

There is nothing wrong with having cravings for ice cream or whatever. For instance I grew up in the country where you hunt and raise your own animals for meat and they do manipulate the clips in those cruelty videos to make it look worse than it really is. God created animals for us to eat and for someone to say we shouldn't and it's not biblical is absurd. We have a small dairy that we buy our milk from and let me tell ya it's delicious and it doesn't have all the hormones in it to produce more milk. Yes, those videos of animal cruelty is horrible, but they show those to scare people out of eating meat and when you raise your own you know exactly what you are feeding them and how they are taken care of, but still it isn't right to pass judgment upon those that do eat meat. I had someone in high school who was advocating being vegan and judged other people as they were eating and as a result she wasn't happy and didn't have any friends. My suggestion is to accept people for who they are and not what they eat
Some of you here are blissfully unaware of what the bible says. God did not create animals for us to eat. Anyone who believe's that seriously needs to go back and read he beginning of Genesis.
