Remember exactly what you thought
when nobody knew how hard you fought
when they all ignored your tears
dissed your hopes, embraced your fears
Never forget how feeling this way
made you feel the need to pray
and hold on to the hurt you felt
when that crushing blow was dealt
When you held on as though your life depended
on seeing how this trial ended
and grabbed that hope you couldn't see
the desperate hope of victory
The jogger started to catch his breath as he flopped onto the grass for a much-anticipated rest. His mind wandered as he lay on his back, staring up at the sky and noticing the way the soft, puffy clouds mottled it so irregularly and yet so perfectly with shades of white and light gray.
He saw a small brown bird fly into his field of vision, and his thoughts turned to the wonder of flight. He thought, as had many people before him, about how glorious it must be to soar through the air
You really think you love me
you like what you can see
it is a nice illusion
but that isn't all of me
We all run so much deeper
than what humans ever know
they only see the little part
that we put on for show
But God can see the darkest parts
He knows us inside-out
the evil that's within our hearts
our every faithless doubt
And yet, somehow, He loves us still
extends to us His grace
His love
I cannot accept
"It's what I've become"
It's not to be kept
And given a home
The future can be
More spotless within
If I set it free
And take it to Him
And whether I'd like
To keep it or not
Oh God, please get rid
Of each stain and spot
And make me this thing:
The "me" in Your will
With good that You'll bring
And bad that You'll kill
And now I'm at peace
I can't bring you along
on this journey with me
because where I go
you don't want to be
I can't make you grow
as hard as I fight
I can't make you know
that it CAN be all right
You don't know what you've missed
you're too close to see
the things that you've dissed
are just what you need.
