    The Gun Thread

Back to the original tools this thread was about... I'm getting to know my recently acquired Smith Mod 60 .357.... it's a 3" barrel with adjustable sights. The guy I bought it from had put some wood grips on it, but also had the original Hogues. I put the Hogues back on it, and sort of liked...

I think I already did.... Actually, that's called "patina".... gives it character.

Here's my old Estwing. It's had a rather storied past. Our son left it out in the backyard, when he was a teenager and brain dead.... I was mowing the back yard, and almost ran over it. It had been out there for over a week, and was pretty rusted. Had to use a pedestal grinder with a wire...

This new 270 is supposed to be better against body armor than the 308, at range...which apparently the troops have been having problems with, using the 5.56.... you likely know a lot more about that than I do...

you ever hit your thumb with your Beretta? Just curious.... I have hit my thumb with my 22oz Estwing.... it left a mark. But that was years ago.... probably 1974-ish. Still have the hammer, though.

    Nude art - your opinions

I remember a LOOOOONG time ago, when Roseanne Barr was just getting started, she was on a talk show, and was asked if she would do nudity in a movie.... she said that the only way she would do it was if it was an essential part of the story..... or, if someone asked her to. Cracked me up...

    Nude art - your opinions

Too bad... I would have liked to have seen it. I find that the most interesting, realistic pictures are those that are "spontaneous" , or when the subject is unaware they are being photographed.... that is difficult to capture in a drawing, I imagine....

    Nude art - your opinions

Yes.... I've seen all of those in person, and the detail in his statue of David is just breathtaking. Even the veins in his arm are detailed. We just sat and looked at it for about 20 minutes or so... The Pieta was behind glass, so it sort of diminished it a bit, but it's also amazingly...

The military version of it does. I'm not sure about the .277 SIG Fury.... the pics I've seen of it looks like an all brass case. A little research is in order...

As an update.... I read an article about the Lake City ammunition plant that supplies nearly all our military ammo.... as we speak, they are adding a 450,000 sq ft facility that is specifically for the manufacturing of the new 6.8 x 51 ammo. They will make everything in-house. The report says...

I have the dies, and over 1000 bullets and probably 500-600 cases ready to load, but I don't reload the 9mm at this time, because I can still buy new ammo for about $11 a box. I'm holding my reloading supplies in reserve for "a rainy day" so to speak. I do reload for my .45 ACP, but I also buy...

I have some 22 KHornet brass that I've loaded maybe 5 or 6 times. I have some 38 special brass that I've loaded at least that many times. I'm on either my third or maybe fourth time on some of my 308 brass. 45 Colt, the same. I recently started annealing some of the Hornet and some 6.5...

Not sure what a slaughterbot is, but there's not much of anything that a .50 BMG with AP rounds won't "fetch"....

Yes, I've seen a few of his videos. He makes good ammo.... As something of an update, I just saw that the military is moving to a new cartridge, and a whole new "theology" for battle. They apparently have decided that the 5.56 is just not enough cartridge for what the troops are facing now...
