Nah, I don't. Theres a lot in Christmas that is taken from other cultures, i think the dats has a significance all its own to something else originally, we just happen to attribute it to Jesus's birth.

I don't have any proof, but if you asked a historian, I bet they could give you a better answer.

I don't think the specific day matters, just that we do celebrate the coming of our Messiah =]

the first chapter of luke tells the exact conception date if you know how to add it up ......6 months after the announcement of John the baptists conception or during the course of abia.........there are 24 courses for the priests every year each lasts 2 weeks which makes a total of 48 weeks then the sabbaths and feasts which add up to 52 weeks ..........learn which month the corse of Abiah was then count 6 months after youll get the conception day of Jesus then count 9 months and then youll get around about the actual birth month.............most calculate it on or around Sept 25-28th which would make the conception on or around the 25th of Dec.But you can count it for yourself
Holla
verses Luk 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
Luk 1:8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,
Luk 1:9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
Luk 1:24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
Luk 1:25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.
Luk 1:26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
Luk 1:39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
Luk 1:40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

Many theologians agree that Christ was born right around the time of the Hebrew Fall Feasts, the Feast of Trumpets in particular however there is no evidence to support this theory. Besides if this were the case, one would think that those wrote scripted the Gospels would not have left out such a significant detail if indeed it were true.

ive heard that Mithra and Osiris are just two of the many myths who were born on December 25th, and they were called sun-gods .. or i guess they were.

I do not care about the time and date our Lord Jesus Christ was born but I regret for Christians who do not celebrate Christmas because of the controversy on the date and other unimportant matters being mentioned. I consider Christmas is just like any opportunity being taken to inform the people that there was a Jesus Christ born into this world to save mankind from eternal destruction. For sincere Christian, we have to preach Jesus
Christ's birth, death, sleeping and eating time, rest time, ministry whatever things related to Him; just to remind everybody about Him.

True that. .. the thing is.. it is not because Jesus was born on December 25.. cuz first of all.. its not true.

for me christmas.. is one of the many special days of retelling Jesus' real story, how He came to earth and died for our sins.

If my memory serves me correct, the Egyptians believed that their Sun god, RA, was "born" on 12/25 so it's quite possible that Osiris would fit there somewhere...

Jesus was born September 11th, 3 BC between 6:15 and 7:45 pm.

It was 1st of Tishri. During Rosh ha shanah (Jewish New Year; Feast of Trumpets)

From what I understand, the only significance of the date December 25th historically is that it was an assimilation of a pagan holiday by Catholics in order to get the pagans to worship Christ. I don't think they really thought Christ was born on the 25th of December. I think it was just a convenient date for them.

dec.25 is the winter solstice, pegans ,witches ,baal worshipers, etc all knew those signs aswell all jews because those are important to the farming communities.
its important to know when the growing season starts and ends.
But God being the king of Israel coming out of egypt taught them a better way to see and interpret those signs ........but that is another subject
The point is that the winter solstice was important to the ancient folx.its the shortest day of the year.for sun worshipers it was an evil solstice, for moon worshipers it was a good day,but to both equally important
thats why the catholics chose it for Christs Birthday.

well. Christ's birth isn't as important as His death. So Yeah.
His death was the reason for His birth.... so we might as well celebrate the days of His death & resurrection!

The Winter Solstice begins on Dec. 21st.... not the 25th.

Dec. 25th may very well be the date of Mary's conception rather than Jesus' birth. This gets real close to the average period of human gestation.
