Coffee has taken on a whole culture for me, and it is not good when coffee is more expensive here in this country. It throws off my budget as I'd rather buy a coffee than a small meal. I would like to keep the coffee shop culture but throw out the desire for coffee. It really has inflammatory properties, should be tamed and kept at a minimum. I don't like that most coffee shops see me coming and have my drink basically ready for me before I open the door. NOT GOOD. I see it effects my pocket book. It's funny how God sent me to a country where a meal is less expensive than a cup of coffee. It think it is His sense of humor about waking me up to this addiction. Yuckers! I confess and realize it should go.

Dear Father In Heaven

Please be with my friend and help her with this issue with coffee. It is the cost that is hurting her the most plus she is concerned about the effects coffee may be having on her body temple and we ask that You would help her in this situation to make wiser choices with the use of her money and healthier choices for her body temple. I ask that You send the Holy Spirit to help her with this pet sin and that You would take control and whisper in her ear the right choices to make and give her the strength to resist the temptation when it comes. Please bless her in the work she is doing for you in the country she now lives in and help her to rest in Your arms of Love granting her the first love she feels she has lost with You. Revive her spirit and increase her trust and faith in You I pray in Jesus Name Amen.

Posted this in one of my blogs today but it fits in the Pet Sin category too so reposting it here... 11/7/14

Addictions....food and otherwise.....nasty little creatures aren't they? While I have made some progress in a positive way and 30 so pounds lost....It seems I am now spinning my wheels as compromise is starting to slip in. Not a good thing at all. I still have 100's of pounds to loose and it is far to early to see compromise creep in.

Whether food, smoking/nicotine, drugs, sex whatever the addiction...How far will we go to feed that addiction? Will we lie about it, steal to support it, sneak around and do it anyway?

How much do we really trust God to help us become victors over these bad habits that are ruining our body temple that God wants to dwell in? Do we really want the victory over these addictions?

Or are we harboring feelings of being deprived of something, that what ever the addiction it is really not that bad? I mean aren't we suppose to get some sort of enjoyment out of life?

Instead of trying to rationalize our pet sins maybe we should cry out to God to help us to overcome them instead...are any addictions good for us really? Sure it may taste good, it may sooth our nerves just for a moment, maybe it gives us a high that might be missing in everyday life and then the it feels oh so good......and then the let down...I look and feel horrible because I ate too much, I risk heart attack, breathing problems and now I have to use a machine to breath, I can't stop taking this drug, and now I feel worthless because they don't like me anymore I gave them what they wanted and now they have moved on to someone else..... Is any of this really worth it?

When will we see the potential that God sees in us? How can we have eyes that sees the finished product of perfection that God sees when His work is complete in us? Isn't this where our eyes of Faith and Trust in God comes in?

The war still rages everyday in our lives and satan an his evil whispers in our ears everyday to separate ourselves from God.....When will we see that our only hope and our only help comes only from our Father God who loves us with an everlasting love? When will we submit ourselves to the only one who can save us from ourselves?

Just how far will you go to keep your addiction? How far are you willing to let God take control of your life and save you? Do you hang on to the problem with everything you have or do you let go and submit yourself to God and allow Him to change you from the inside out?

Dear God

Help us to stop lying, cheating, stealing, sneaking around, compromising just to hang onto our pet sins of addiction of choice and let us release them to You. Please come into our hearts and our lives and save us from these things that seem to control us. Forgive us for being so stubborn and hard hearted, forgive us for not wanting to change, forgive us for sinning against our temple in which You want to dwell. Please help us as we are too weak and need Your help. Help us to hear Your voice saying this is the way walk in it. Save us I pray in Jesus Name Amen.

Mine is anger like trinity...I sometimes I would let everything bottle up inside about someone who hurts me or just plain annoys me..instead of handling the right way I would stay quiet and tried to avoid them..but then at the end I would start yelling at them...which isn't good...

Dear Father In Heaven

Please help AbbeyJoy with the anger issue. Father people can be cruel, annoying, hurtful, mean, and just disappointing to us and we have such a hard time learning to turn the other cheek as we are directed to in Your word. It is hard to let things go at times that irritate us and we come before You and seek Your help and guidance in this matter of anger. Help her to come to You when people do hurtful things to her and for her to lay this hurt and anger at Your feet. For her to learn to rest in Your arms of love knowing that You are in control and will settle all these issues someday. Help us to look forward to heaven when there will be no more sin and hurtful things happening to us and help us to learn to live as though we are in heaven here on earth. Thank You for Your love toward us in Jesus Name Amen

Sleep deprivation and laziness tend to be mine, usually tied together. I stay up too long doing something fun (CC, tumblr, youtube, videogames, ect) and so I go to bed late. When I go to bed late I wake up late. When I wake up late I have less oomph to do anything productive, so I lay around and go on watch movies or go back on the computer. Rinse, lather, and repeat.

Dear Father In Heaven

I know what it is like not to sleep, please be with our sister and help her to get more and better sleep. Give her motivation to work for You and help her to find her purpose in life. Sometimes we can let other things get in the way of really living life to the fullest and I pray You would help her to see her full potential in life and the purpose You have for her in it. Be with her and please guard and protect her help her to reach out to You and build her faith and trust in You I pray in Jesus Name Amen.

Watching videos of guys playing videogames (Game Grumps, Markiplier, Boogie, ect ) when they just don't use good language, and can tell smutty stories. I don't approve of it, but I still find myself listening.

While I acknowledge I have many sins, I do have one pet sin that I always go back to without fail... Its the one I try to avoid while working on all the others first...

My pet sin is lust. Most people think of this one as a guy problem but it is a big one for me... I justify by saying "I don't sleep around... I'm waiting til marriage... Blah blah blah"

Sure I'm waiting til marriage with my boyfriend but my thoughts/media I listen to/other little things I don't want to mention in polite company are out of hand!

And its embarrassing. My "favorite" sin that I use as an escape. Please pray for me!

I have always thought this was mainly a guy problem, but I'm hearing more and more women admitting to having issues with lust, so you are not alone. Lust is kind of like a drug of escape. It's embarrassing for any of us to admit that we have a problem with lust, but I admire your honesty and will gladly pray for you! :)
